I have never experienced anything supernatural- not one single thing. I wish that I could.
Same here.

I feel it wouldn’t be right to ask for something clearly unusual to occur, though, given these words of Christ himself: “This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” (Luke 11:29)

🤷

It is a mistake to believe the supernatural is unusual.

Take heart. As one man said, “This is always already the ‘other’ world.’” “Natural” and “supernatural” are artificial distinctions for quasi educational purposes. Those words are far more a matter of intellectualized framing than of actual distinctions. And the reports are that at the highest levels of contemplative life, phenomena are considered a distraction, if not a barrier.

I have had several experiences. One of the houses that my dad rented had some bad mojo going on; there was a pentagram painted on the door of the shed out back, and when my sister and I were exploring the back yard for the first time, we found animal bones in shallow graves over most of the yard itself.

I heard my name called across the street outside at night more than once, something liked to tap on my covers when I was trying to sleep, and one got a definite sense of…ugliness, from the back bedroom of the house. Always ice-cold back there.

Insofar as a more spiritual experience goes, I had a dream once of the Virgin Mary, during a time when I was sinning a lot as a teenager and not really caring. She appeared in the kitchen, and she was crying. Her eyes were wide with sadness and grief, and she put a gentle hand to the side of my face…and I woke up.

The look on her face is still burned into memory, and it makes me want to double-up with shame sometimes. She was worried about me, really worried.

Well, unusual in my experience. I mean, St. Mary still hasn’t stopped by for tea and baclava, for instance 😛
But you have succeeded in choosing to believe she is the mother of the Son of God!
You’re not compelled to… Or are you? 😉

Haha, true.

But aren’t we discussing how “supernatural” experiences are within reach for everyone?

If compelled, then by the Holy Spirit 😛
