Maybe you need to see Jesus in your fellow man, not just in the Eucharist.Frankly when it comes to the Blessed Sacrament, I would have gladly taken you up on your threat.

Leaving a tabernacle open for a while before Mass may be “abuse” to some, but there are bigger issues to draw our swords over, especially if we’re going to be unholy jerks about it.
No, it’s not OK to verbally abuse someone to make a point. No, it’s not OK to leave the tabernacle open (unless it’s empty of the Blessed Sacrament.) No it’s not OK to leave the key in the tabernacle.
Again, just because others do it does not make it OK.
Because Christ is Christianity, then yes. Though I know that Christ did not boast of His actions. How did Christ teach people not to sell doves in the Temple compound? Was there Christianity in that?

Would that righteous anger have allowed me to drag the OP to the parking lot and throttle him for verbally abusing my wife?

Tell that to Mother Theresa, she saw Jesus in the untouchables.
That in the wrongs hands can lead us to step on the First Commandment. Raising the creature on par with God —can blur the distinction between the creator and the creature—to where it would be difficult to make the right choice of one over the other.

Much like to OP didn’t care about the results of his tirade, I wouldn’t care much about the results of mine either.
Seems to me —you would have been arrested for assault. Does not seem likely the authorities would take OP’s comments as verbal abuse.
AFter reading your original post and your relentless defense of your action, it is obvious that you wear this like a badge of honor. Just remember that Christ didn’t always praise the righteous if it didn’t include a heart of charity. From Heckesh: Have you ever gotten in trouble at your parish for doing what’s right? I have, more than once.
While you are quick to jump to rash judgment (the EMHC may have been doing what she was instructed), you assumed that it was intentional disrespect. From Heckesh: Would I change a thing? Nope. To this day it has never repeated.
From Cat: A soft answer turns away wrath. Violence in voice tone and actions (e.g., slamming things) is never justified.
But it appears that the OP is not open to any form of comment with regard to a better way.Well, hindsight is always 20-20. Atleast something was done about that matter.
Well, since you didn’t try another tact, you don’t really know. From Heckesh: I am almost certain her actions would be the common practice today had I not shook things up. The very sort of practice that is terribly difficult to eradicate.
More evidence of lack of charity. From Heckesh: In retrospect, I’m glad I did what I did.
From Heckesh: True. I would guess that most here who find problems with my response are likely the sort who lack the resolve to confront people who are deliberately treating the Blessed Sacrament in a bad way.
This is so much ****. Don’t presume to assume that my response is anything of the sort. And, since I’ve observed many of the people who have suggested a different tact are equally diligent about Catholic Teaching, Dogma, Doctrine and practices, you are showing further rash judgment, which is an Offense against the Truth and grave matter.Notice the focus on PC manners and not on protecting the Blessed Sacrament.
I agree. Whenever I accomplish something in anger, no matter the merits of the accomplishment, I recognize that it was not done in a manner which is proper. While it was possibly heat of the moment, righteous anger, coming to CAF to boast about it certainly is inappropriate, if not sinful.
Please. We are not judging you but we are judging your self-admitted manner of what you did and your continual refusal to self-examine whether it was proper. Even if I have confidence that I what I did was proper, I would be grateful that people gave me something to think about so I might do it better next time.Aha! Now the gender angle! Bravo! I wasn’t expecting that.
This thread has proven to be educational to me. I’m amused by the number of people condemning my action while judging me (a rather odd combination.)
What this thread has done in the positive is to shine a bit of light on yet another reason the Church is in the shape she is in today in the USA.
