Have you ever walked out on a movie?

…or rented a movie and shut it off only after about 20 minutes of trying to see if it would improve? We have! lol I thought I’d start a thread to hear of those movies that you thought were so horrible or boring, that you just couldn’t sit through it. It will be interesting if I happened to love those movies, however.

Here are a few of mine:

1)Three Can Play That Game (LOVED Two Can Play that Game but this one was terrible…the main character was trying to be passed off as 28, and she is in her 40’s…in addition to poor humor, and trying to force something, it stunk)

1. Little Children–way weird!
2. March of the Penguins–yes, it was good from a ‘I now know a lot about penguins’ stand point, but boring…I fell asleep…I think I was too tired to get up to shut it off…lol
3. Anchorman–just not well done

I’ll have to think of some more!

Whoever said they walked out / quit watching Anchorman has problems. That is one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen a lot of them)

I guess I have problems …this is a light thread–please let’s be kind.

I’ve never actually walked out on a movie before, but there was one I would have if it wasn’t for the fact that my former boss took a bunch of us to go see it and I rode with him so I didn’t have a car. That movie, was Freddy got Fingered. The worst movie ever made.

I have never heard of that one?

I have… I walked out of the theathre when I went to see Traffic and one dumb and really lame Adam Sandler movie but I don’t recall the name.

And I have walked away or turned the DVD off to a lot of movies at home.

Lately, I haven’t found movies that interest me as much as before and I’m a movie junkie.

Umm, let’s see.

“Face Off” - too violent.
“Incredible Hulk” with Eric Bana - boring and just a nowhere script.
“Fahrenheit 9/11” - too much hate, distortions and cheap shots (got my money back!)
“Chicago” - musicals are not my cup of tea.
“Anchorman” - And no, Bataar, I do not have problems.
“Lady in the Water” - Just too slow.

I agree on all…I have not seen Chicago, but heard it’s good, but I’m not one to watch musicals on tv…If I see a play, it has to be live…it’s just so much better that way.

high five to you on Anchorman…it had funny moments. I’m a Will Farrell fan…but not in that movie.

Yes, I walked out of “Blazing Saddles” when it got to the farts around the campfire…I’m not a “slapstick” humor kind of guy I guess.

Sophie’s Choice.

DD was 18 months old, and when it came to the scene where Sophie allowed the death camp guard to take her daughter in the hope of preserving her son’s life, the little girl screamed, “MAAAAAAAAAAA-MEEEEEEEE” – and sounded just like my baby. I handed DH the car keys and walked the two mles home!

I don’t blame you! I have not seen this movie, can you believe that? I mean, that’s been out for a hundred years…

Ah, I just remember one–I was watching on HBO a few weekends ago The Hills Have Eyes…oh my…horrible. Gross, and just bad acting…bad scenes…just a bad horror film.

I know PF is not everyone’s cup of tea…I liked that movie though. I mean, not my favorite in the whole world, but it was ecclectic…acting was great…it was out there, and odd violence.

We shut one off half way through that was about a really stupid arms dealer who thought he was some kind of a philosopher. It should have been funny, but it was just really, really stupid.

I can picture the actor in my head, but I can’t think of his name. It was the most ponderously boring “action film” we’ve ever seen in our lives. I don’t remember the name of it, either.

Let’s see…I’m notorious for falling asleep during movies…

With DH (while we were dating) I fell asleep during the digitally remastered Star Wars. (…and I remember the exact part too…where Yoda was training Luke Skywalker to be a Jedi.).

I also fell asleep during the Matrix (2 times)

And I fell asleep during Lord of the Rings.

As for objectionable films…I rented the “Postman always rings twice” expecting Lana Turner…I got Jack Nicholson instead.
So I turned it off.

Also wanted to see “Leaving Las Vegas” turned it off after about 5minutes.

LOL–You sound like me…I struggle to stay awake during action movies.

Leaving Las Vegas is not only boring, but depressing, and really strange …I didn’t finish that either. Good pick!

No. It wasn’t Michael Douglas. The actor was one of those skinny guys with wild curly hair - actually, he looks a lot like Gene Wilder - imagine Gene Wilder with a California accent, and younger, and harder-edged.

And the title of the film makes you think it’s going to be interesting.

I rarely see a movie in the theater anymore, but I have walked out a couple of times. I don’t even remember the names of the movies, it was so long ago. One time someone gave me a movie on VHS that was so bad that I stopped it, pulled it right out of the VCR, and threw it straight into the trash can, but that was because it was so profoundly stupid; it wasn’t morally offensive. I have turned off numerous movies when they have run on TV, but that was usually because they* were* morally offensive.

That was a truly horrible movie. I can’t believe we sat through that. I’m glad he got sued. I hope he’s living in a cardboard box under a bridge somewhere. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

(Although, the scenes with the bear were entertaining … )

Until you posted that description, I was thinking Lord of War starring Nicolas Cage. But now I am unsure.

A friend and I walked out of the movie “The Governess” because the sexual content was really bothering us. (Also, we didn’t think it was a very good movie–pretentious and pointless.)
