Have you had an Angelic experience?

When I first asked my Mom if she saw the angel also, about 2 hrs. after it happened, she went and told every Catholic I knew. >.<

Moms… gotta love em!

Here we are in the 21st century & people can still claim to have had visions of angels and expect not to be ridiculed. It’s pretty scary.

Over 64% of the participants in this poll claim to have seen an angel … the world is much more deluded than I ever suspected.

You have to consider the audience. I would wonder if this poll is hardly representative of “the world”. Rather it is a self selecting segment of the population with religious inclinations. I’m rather surprised that you’re surprised, actually.

And for the record, I have had all manner of metaphysical encounters: good, bad, and neutral.

well, I’ve had some paranormal experiences too (but it was junior high school, and I was high).
 
Yes, I have. I have had several experiences with angels. Mostly with my guardian angel. I am a Roman Catholic. 🙂
 
Yes, I think so. It is hard to explain, but when my Dad was dying with cancer I was fervently praying for having more time with him, I was asking for him to be healed or have the cancer go into remission so that he would be with us longer, I didn’t know just what I was praying for, but I just didn’t want him to go away from us, we loved him so very much.

One night I was so distraught that I had prayed over and over that he have more time here with us, and a bright white out of focus something appeared and asked me “Who are you praying for, yourself or your Dad?”, that is all that was said, but I knew immediately that my prayer focus should change and be centered on the will of our Lord. I had been very selfish in wanting to keep Dad here, when our Lord would give him peace, love and mercy.

My Dad passed on Saint Patrick’s Day, all of his family was there to lovingly bid him adieu.

I thought at the time it was an angelic experience, God only knows, anyway, it changed my outlook on things and brought me closer to my Dad and the Lord.

Actually you should not be surprised. LOL

And most that believe in angels would not mock you, they would more than likely feel sad for you.

In the last 5 years many a poll taken and studies done by Major Universities, major news organizations, Newspapers such as The Washington Times, etc…have shown an increase in those with supernatural experiences.

They have all been consistent in showing that over half of all Americans believe in or have had, a angelic experience. And the number is growing. So actually, it is you who are in the minority.

What I thought was interesting is that over 80 percent believe in God. Not every person who has seen angels are what you would call religious. My guess would be the new age movement, which is also growing, may have something to do with that.

Hey, I know I’m in the minority (there would be continual world peace if common sense and logic were a majority opinion).

Indeed, there’s all sorts of paranormal experiences that have been recorded. In some cases the people actually do see something (in one instance I can think of an investigation of ghost sightings over a grave yard discovered it was the interaction of chemicals in emissions from a nearby plant with electrical wires that went over the grave yard). In other cases it’s probably hallucinations. There’s all types of hallucinations; and many of them occur with very normal people. For example, the hypnagogic hallucination occurs just before people fall asleep, olfactory hallucinations can be caused by something as mundane as a viral infection, etc.

I also remember watching one of those haunted house stories. A couple who had just purchased a home they believed was haunted called in a team of ghost busters. The team was recording video in the house, and one of the team members were in one of the bedrooms when the mattress on the bed started shaking and loud noises began emanating from the closet.

The women (on the ghost buster team) tried to compose herself, but she became so frightened she fled from the room rather than investigating the cause of these unusual disturbances. I thought to myself flip that darn mattress over and open the gosh darn closet. It’s probably some mechanical devices installed by someone trying to devalue the property so they can buy it under market value (probably a neighbor or someone else who has a unique interest in that property).

Yet, not a single one of these so called ghost busters even considered any logical explanations (they immediately went to the most absurd explanation, and called in a priest to perform an exorcism on the house). Of course they didn’t bother to stick around and tell us how the ritual turned out.

It’s like in the years past, before the advent of modern medical science, people used to believe that the epileptic were possessed by demon spirits.

Today many point the power of prayer in healing the sick, yet even this notion is being debunked. Here’s a link to a recent article in Science Daily:

The study also says more than 90% of everyone says some form of prayer at least once a day. Do YOu? If not you are really in the minority.

dude, someone has to be right … it might as well be me 😃

seriously bro, you’re right & I am tolerant of all people in real life, assuming they’re not dirt bags of course. But this is the internet world, where you take a stand on a certain position and defend it through civil debate. I guess that’s why I’m here, to test my ideas and see how they stand against other ideas.

So far they stand pretty good 👍

I haven’t always been an atheist (obviously I was born a Christian like most other Americans). So I wasn’t always this confident in my position. You learn stuff in forums like this … not to mention it pushes you to research and learn on your own (so you know enough to have confidence in your position, which I believe is important in life).
 
Yes, I have and I am Roman Catholic. I also have a friend that has multiple Angelic experiences and she was Protestant converting to Morman.
 
a little history, my wife is from a large catholic afmily, I was raised in the Methodist church and ascended into the church at age 30 and after 8 yrs of marriage and mass and our first son being born. During those eight years of marriage, three of the six children in my wifes family took their own lives, the last her little sister just months after our son had been born. We have always had a deep sorrow over these things, but we have also maintained our faith. Five years ago I started praying the Chaplet of Devine Mercy for the benefit of my brother and sisters; if by chance they are in purgatory I wanted to be praying for them and also all of the protestant ancestors of mine. This past summer on the birthday anniversay of the younger sister, we were having an especially joyous time together, celebrating our family and remembering fondly my wife’s sister on her birthday. It was late, we were slow dancing, suddenly an apparition appeared behind me, I sensed it was not a negative force but a guide. Almost simultaneously my sister in law appeared to me to my right, above me, she said “I am okay, but I need you to pray for Mike and Liz, You will feel what they feel and know why it is important to pray.” Again, in an instant I was knocked down to the floor, I was sobbing like I had never before, I sensed such sorrow, not a sad, lost something or someone sorrow, just total grief of absense. My wife was grabbing me and shouting, I could barely hear her, I was consumed by the sorrow. My wife’s sister asked me to pray for Mike and Liz. Since that night I have dedicated all of the masses to them and continue to pray the devine mercy chaplet and for all the souls in purgatory.
