Thus the why this topic was posted, I suppose. I think when we get into debates with non-Catholics, that it is good for us to know the Bible. Not because knowing verses will win an argument, but because, according to Karl Keating in “Catholicism and Fundamentalism”, They may use the same words, but mean them in a different way. I am not saying Catholics should remember the Bible word for word, but I feel like it’s difficult to know God without actually knowing what he says. I know many people emphasise a relationship with God, and they are right. (Where they err is assuming that relationship is impossible without religion). But we Catholics, we have the Sacraments, the Church, the Bible. I have great respect for a Protestant that is serious about their beliefs, especially since so many Catholics are lukewarm about theirs. Anyway, just my :twocents:
