I have! I have been praying the Rosary before work every day, and absolutely love starting the day like this!! I used to pray it at night, and the tempation to skip here and there set in:blush: So, doing it before work has been such a blessing. I bought a cd and follow along with it–and meditate before each decade, on various prayer intentions or petitions–or offerings of thanksgiving and praise, and just marvel at the positive changes. One, is peace. I have been a little stressed with our house hunting–should we rent or buy–situation, and it all worked out beautifully after giving it to Mary to pray with and for me. I also notice that when I ask for her to pray for me to be productive at work, my production has really become better, and oddly enough, more effortless. Incredible! I always liked my job, but it just seems to be something I enjoy even more after praying the Rosary–and this has caused me to perform even better. I also offer up the prayers for many others…and have seen positive things happen for them…it’s amazing. (they must be praying the rosary too!)😃

I would like to know if you pray the Rosary, and if you have specific intentions for yourself or others, and have you seen ‘mini miracles’ through Mary’s intercession? I look forward to the stories!!!:bounce:

Whatevergirl, what a beautiful testimony!! Thank you for sharing!! 😃

Thank you for sharing your devotion with us!!!
When we pray the rosary, we actually pray for each others; therefore, we are being prayed by millions of Catholics out there. 🙂 That is awesome.

I see different changes but the most important one right now is the on-going process of increasing self-knowledge.

One Rosary a day keeps Satan away! 🙂

I don’t know why but I have never received any spiritual benefit that I am aware of by praying the rosary, and I try to pray it every day. I have received more graces since I have started praying the Divine Mercy chaplet however.

The Divine Mercy chaplet is awesome. Do you mind share with us on how you decided to pray this chaplet and what benefit you have received?

Thanks!

Without a doubt Mary has helped save me from myself through her intercession. I would not be who I am today without her aid.

i STOPPED praying the rosary for a while, i don’t quite know why, but truly i started to fall back into my old ways.

I actually only started praying it around November or December of last year. My director made suggestions for spiriutal reading and one of them was Faustina’s Diary. I wasn’t really into visions or hearing voices from God so I didn’t care to read it, but all the other suggestions I had read previously. I thought I would look up the text online just to check it out and I could not stop reading it. So I went and bought the book and read the whole thing in about a week. Then I started reading sections over again and started praying the chaplet.

As far as the graces. I have gained a greater appreciation of the sacrament of Penance and have become more aware of avoiding sin. I also have come to see the role of suffering in my life. It has also helped me with my meditations on Love which I have been exploring with my director for about 2 years now.

I do at least one rosary on my way into work (I have an hour commute). I started with offering a decade for strength to overcome sin, a decade for my wife, a decade for my kids, a decade for our parish, and a decade for whoever was on my mind that day - often our priest or a friend I had shared the faith with. Also do the intentions of the holy father on the triplette at the beginning.

When people asked me to pray for them, I would remember them with a decade. Sometimes I do an extra rosary for those added requests from folks - I really should do that more regularly. I was debating whether to do one on the commute home but maybe I’ll do the divine mercy instead.

The overcoming sin motivation was especially fruitful in that I have found far more strength to resist sin’s that held a lot of power over me before. I still have a looooong way to go, but the distance already traveled is very encouraging. I think I’ve kept this practice going for about 3 months now - in the past, I do not think I’ve kept a prayer commitment more than a few weeks. So that too is an improvement in my spiritual life. It has also helped me stay constant in morning and evening devotions as well.

There is a certain tipping point - at first I did not know the prayers real well (I’m a relatively new convert) and so I’d have to keep looking at my cheat sheet - which was not always possible if I did it during my commute. That made it difficult to get over that slow start to the point where I could concentrate on the mysteries more than worrying about if I was going to remember what prayer came next or if I was going to forget the words.

I used to listen to books on tape and at first I felt I was missing too much of my book to be praying. Now I cannot imagine missing the prayer part of my commute.

How awesome it is! I have come to see the same thing as you described above - both Penance and suffering.

Thank you, Joannm!

Hi revelations, have you read these following books by Saint Louis De Montfort:
  • The secret of the Rosary
  • True devotion to Blessed Virgin Mary
I’d recommend you to have these two books.

I had a fight with a very good friend of mine the other night, and I was very afraid that it had caused irreconcilable damage between us. I spent all day yesterday in prayer and prayed a full Rosary in addition to reciting the Memorare and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Later on that night my friend and I were speaking again and you would not have known that there were problems between us the night before.

Spending a whole hour in prayer for the Rosary really was a blessing. It’s actually something I think I want to continue for the rest of the summer (I’d like to say I’ll be able to continue it after that, but being a first year law student will make that VERY difficult…I’m not setting my expectations too high right now). The extra meditation really helped me grow closer to God and and more fully comprehend his love for us. I do wish that I was better able to pray it in a group of people. I’ve tried and everytime I get very distracted because I can’t go at my own pace.

I am a new convert and recently tried to start praying the Rosary on my commute to and from work ( I drive an hour each way). I got a cd to help me learn the prayers and used it each day for about a week. I have temporarily stopped until I can learn more about the mysteries, so I can properly meditate on them.

One point of confusion for me though, when you say you are praying the Rosary for someone or for an intention, how exactly do you do that? I want to add intentions to my Rosary prayers, but am unsure how to do so.

By the way, my cd also has the Divine Mercy Chaplet, the Memorare and several other prayers, so I can get a lot of praying done on the way to and from work.

Thanks in advance for any advice on adding intentions.👍

Welcome Home, mtnutt!
I think that we shouldn’t stop praying the Rosary until we learn more about the mysteries. We pray and learn hands in hands. Since they are mysteries, we won’t learn enough about them. But I understand your desire. As I mentioned to the username “revelations”, I would recommend you to use this book “Secret of the Rosary” by Saint Louis De Montfort who had such a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

For praying for the intention for others, add that at the beginning of the Rosary, between the Mysteries (after the Glory Be )…sometimes you can just add between the Hail Mary’s if you remember something else that needs to be included in your intentions.

I like to use the mysteries as reminders that fit the intentions - so similar intentions go with like mysteries. For instance, I might say, “The second Luminous mystery is the wedding at Cana, for my wife that our marriage will be blessed by the same Jesus.” or something like that.

Also, I think it was JPII who said to think of the “…Jesus” that comes in the center between the “Hail Mary…” and the “Holy Mary…” as the hinge on which to hang the mystery. It helps you meditate on the mystery more and keeps your mind from wandering. So, think of it as a “speed bump” and add the mystery to every hail…

“Hail…the fruit of thy womb Jesus - found in the temple. Holy Mary, mother of God…” So, mentioning the mystery helps center you on Jesus and helps you keep from getting into that mindless mode of not really meditating on the mysteries.

St. Louis de Montfort stated sinner who begins to pray the rosary will give up one or the other, either the rosary or his sins.

I follow the method I learned from The Marian Movement of Priests (you don’t need to be a priest to participate).
At the beginning of the rosary, I consecrate each member of my family (by name) to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Other people may name a person at the beginning of each decade.
A friend of mine said that when she prays the Divine Mercy, she says a different person’s name on each bead. “Have mercy on (name) and on the whole world.”

Thanks for the good advice. I will start trying to incorporate some of these suggestions.

Hi mtnutt

I started incorporating prayer intentions, etc before each decade, but when I’m following along with Mother Angelica on EWTN, or a cd…I just express it to Mary as this…“Mary, please pray with/for me on…[insert intention here] to God, our almighty and loving Father, on behalf of Jesus, His only son who died on the cross for our sins, and who lives and reigns with us one God forever and ever.” (and then I proceed back into the decade)

I usually pray for others, and also offer a decade to praise and thank God for His amazing grace. I think you will find your prayer time in this way to become more enriched over time…I have! It has been such a blessing…I don’t ever understand myself when I get away from praying the Rosary.😊

Yes, I am going through a crisis right now and have received immediate results after praying a Rosary and the St. Michael prayer.

This past Wednesday night, things were so bad that I had no dinner and didn’t get to bed until 2:00 a.m. in the morning. Had to get up for work with just 4 hours sleep. Woke up with a headache and an empty, sore stomach … knowing full well that I would have to face an entire high-stress day with basically no energy from sleep or food.

Immediately after praying on the way to work, the headache vanished, my tiredness vanished … completely. I was still hungry and found it difficult to eat all day from stress, but I was provided the energy I needed to survive, for which I am truly grateful.

What a beautiful testimony! Thank you for sharing this. You know, when I have prayed…I have implored Mary’s prayers, and sometimes St Joseph’s…and not that Jesus doesn’t listen–He most certainly does…but, when I ask Mary to pray with me, maybe you feel this way too–it’s like she is my mother. She is your mother, the way Jesus indicated such to John, during His dying hours on the cross. It is such a comforting feeling that Mary is praying for us, and I too have seen visible changes. I have gained a tremendous sense of peace over situations that I was totally nuts over…I have performed better at work, simply by asking Mary to pray for me to stay focused on Christ. It’s amazing!!

I really love your story.🙂
