Have your arm relaxing on pew inside the church?

So putting your arms on the back of a pew undermines Christ’s Mass.? So while the rest of us are awaiting the arrival of the Creator of the universe you are looking around to see who it is acting in a manner you consider improper. Now Now tell me- who is undermining the mass is undermining the mass?

If there’re standing room only in the church, and you are packed in like sardines, then yes it would be rude to take up that much space. I cannot think of any other reason for anyone to complain about this.

There are bigger fish to fry, folks…

I guess it would be all right as long as somebody didn’t try to hold his hand when the Our Father came up:D

for some people who are like me, disabled, it is good to stretch the arms if you get cramping of the muscles easily. i don’t stretch my arms out on the back of the pew if there are others directly behind me or right beside me because it would be rude.

i will do it occasionally if the seat next to me is free, and there are no others behind me in the pew. i try to sit in the very back because of my multitude of health issues.

Maybe if you had taken the time to read Cat’s statements which I responded to—you would know what I meant. She said all the distractions — which in essence is all the abuses that happen to the Mass. Therefore–by her —God is undermining the Mass.

In todays Church — we don’t have to go looking for abuses–they are prominent enough—that documents are written to suppress them.

It’s really funny I saw this thread, because last Sunday during Mass, I REALLY couldn’t concentrate on the Mass… I didn’t have anyone with gasp an arm on a pew around me. I had two screaming little kids behind me. I had a toddler’s rattle chucked at my head. I had their mommy’s car keys tossed into my purse. Oh, how I’d have welcomed an “offensive” arm draped over a pew… or a veil-wearing, Latin gerbil! 😃

I am sure the ladies who attend the Latin Mass and wear veils–will find that quite funny.

You guys make me feel like the church is a coffee shop now. :rolleyes:

I’ve seen young guys and old guys do the same. Just like they are sitting on the sofa – relaxing.

I hope I don’t see anyone raise their legs up on the front pew. 😛

Maybe that is how people do it in U.S; but from where I come from, we are in the Church, not in a theater.

For the sake of the talk, it is the position of the arm that I am talking about. It is not about if it is during the mass or not on this picture.

It’s a serious threat…there’s a non-denominational place of worship on the other side of town that has a huge screen set up with tables and soda pop and pretzels for its teen and young adult crowd. They call it their Worship Cafe… I guess this is just another way of having God bend His knee instead of ours. 🤷
