Hey everyone. I am having some issues with getting Colton baptized. His dad wanted me to wait until Colton was 3 because his dad did not feel like he was ready for it yet. He also wanted Colton to make his own decision about getting baptized. I wanted to get Colton baptized as soon as possible because he was not baptized as a baby and he is now 13 months old and I know it needs to be done as soon as possible. I know that I would be committing a mortal sin by not getting him baptized. Colton’s dad and I are not in a relationship but we plan to be in a relationship in the future. We have joint custody of Colton but each of us has an equal say as far as religious decisions go for Colton.
Anyway, I kept talking to Colton’s dad about getting him baptized because I knew Colton’s dad’s feelings on the issue and I did not want to hurt his feelings. Well, his dad did finally tell me to go ahead and get him baptized but his dad seems to think that I don’t care about his feelings in the matter. I told him that I do care about his feelings in the matter or else I wouldn’t have even talked to him about it.
Colton’s dad is a Catholic like me but he is not a practicing Catholic and he does not believe all of the teachings of the Catholic Church. I asked him if he would be at Colton’s baptism and he said that he would not be there.
So anyway, I would just really appreciate your prayers for Colton’s dad that he would come around on the issue and especially that he would attend Colton’s baptism. I know that he will regret missing out on this hugely important event in Colton’s life later on down the road if he doesn’t go. So anyway, please pray for Colton’s dad.
