I now have just over nine years of fighting three cancers. I love life, therefore, I would do it over. If I focused solely on this life, I would despair. Thus, I focus on the promise of the next life, which will be perfect. I roll with the punches of this life, as I am confident that God, and God alone, will bring good from it.
I never complain that life is not fair! Thank God life is not fair, or else everyone would have cancer and not just the few of us. All of my loved ones would have cancer, right along with me. Does that seem fair? No! This life and all of its inequalities seems like mercy and God’s grace received.
Suffering is part of life for pilgrims on this earth. We long for the day when suffering ends, but our hope drives us on. The door to eternal life will arrive very soon, and we will then scarcely remember the ills of this earthly existence.
As to the plight of others, try not to succumb to the human tendency to be more upset about their condition than they are themselves. Harboring this belief embitters. It disappoints. It distracts. Rather, do what you can to relieve the suffering of others. The past is out of our control and we all know what living there does to us.
Do not look left and right and see sinners and hypocrites. Look up and see the perfection of God. Do not be absorbed in this life, which is essentially staring at one’s feet while walking. Rather, look to eternity and strive for that goal.
You may help alleviate the suffering of others, but what about your own suffering? This thread is evidence that you are suffering. Change your views on suffering - particularly what you choose to do with your suffering. You may offer your suffering to God to help others! Ponder that for a bit.
