Having Trouble with Perfect Contrition

A little confused with Perfect Contrition
I’m confused as to how you know you’ve done it and if you can tell if you only feel that way because you can’t make a Confession

And if you make a Repent in Perfect Contrition and wait for you next confession
How do you know you’re covered(other than Trust in God to make up your imperfection)

Sorry if this post about my confusion confuses you I’m just eager for Confession but it’s dangerous out and all my churches are closing all services

You can only know from the signs given in Scripture. If you love me, keep my commands, the fruits of the Spirit, and so on. Continue daily practicing perfect condition and meditating on the Passion and living out the faith can give you more certainty. And by all means try to get to confession still, even if it means personally going to the door of a priest and asking for it then and there. By any means necessary.

How do you know you’re covered (other than Trust in God to make up your imperfection)

This is how. Pray to God to receive the gift of perfect contrition and trust in his mercy. God wants you to be in Heaven more than you want yourself to be in Heaven.

I’m confused as to how you know you’ve done it

Only God and yourself can know. Also, as time passes since Confession and you look back at the mortal sin that you truly repented from, and it seems less and less likely you will commit it again, then you know.

We can confess to God - we are expected to - and receive forgiveness of our sins. However, absolution is a juridical act of the Church. It is Christ, via His Church, absolving you in a 100% trustworthy and perceptible fashion. Perceptible as in perceived by the sense - in this case, our sense of hearing.

However, this has a huge “IF” attached to it in that you must be truthful and complete in your confession, as well as possessing a contrite heart. From the Catholic Encyclopedia (by Servant of God Fr. John Hardon, S.J.†):

PERFECT AND IMPERFECT CONTRITION

Catholic teaching distinguishes a twofold hatred of sin; one, perfect contrition, rings from the love of God Who has been grievously offended; the other, imperfect contrition, arises principally from some other motives, such as loss of heaven, fear of hell, the heinousness of sin, etc. (Council of Trent, Sess. There are people far wiser than I who speculate that no human can attain perfect contrition. That whole “free from any attachment to sin” is not something that happens easily or early in the Christian life. Losing the fear of hell can take a lifetime.

Here, priests are hearing confessions every day. Look at your Diocese website or call your parish tomorrow to arrange for confession.

Remember, God is not waiting to GOTCHA

That’s between you and god to know there isn’t one thing you can look to and check it off like ah I did that perfect contrition… Prayer, scriptures, commandments and pray for and trust in God’s mercy
