The only thing here I am rebelling against is you.
No, Tweety, it is clear you are rebelling against a great many Catholic teachings. That is why it is called “protesting”. 😃
One thing I am not is a liar.
I believe you Tweety. I think that you genuinely and sincerely believe it is ok to call yourself a Catholic and still deny the doctrines of the faith. I think you are probably surrounded by equally misled cafeteria Catholics who are not even as religious as you are.
Code:
I changed it because I was angry at folks like you. I am a Catholic who is a RCIA instructor, An EMCH. have taught some in our Catholic school, am Vice Pres. along with my husband in a club at Church.
You certainly seem to have had a great deal of success in your life masquerading as a Catholic. 👍
I do not always agree with some things the Church professes,
The problem, Tweety, is that the areas of disagreement you have are those that separate you from the Catholic Church. You have rejected the doctrines of the faith, and you are Protestant.
and am not ashamed to admit when I make a mistake about something or someone.
Really? 😉
Code:
My Priest and Bishop know me and know all about me. My life is not a secret. Also am in charge along with my husband for caring for the needs of some elders in our Church and community. I am a believer in Jesus have been Saved Been Baptised, etc etc. Attended BSF and taught there for 8 years. Anything else you would like to know? God Bless
I would just like to know that you are not calling yourself Catholic.

I commend you for serving in your Catholic parish, and for your faithful commitment and ministry to the people of God. I hope and pray that those around you who are also in rebellion with the teachings of the Church will see your fervent faith, and be inflamed to study, understand, and embrace that which they claim to profess.

Code:
maybe you feel this way because your baptism has been cheapened by the CC
Can you please explain what this means?
and you haven’t truely experienced regeneration in the heart? For those of us that have, such as Tweety, we know what it means to be reborn of the Spirit, for we have lived God’s grace as He has worked inside us to transform us into His likeness. Even in the darkest periods of my sin, He is there speaking to me to bring me back into captivity. He doesn’t leave me as some bastard child.
Are you under the impresson that the Catholic Church teaches opposite of this?

Actually, what you have stated here is very Catholic. It does not seem “cheap” to me at all!

It is regrettable that you cannot receive the genuine attempts of your brothers and sisters in Christ in a positive way. However, it is very hard for someone who has been victimized in the past to trust other people.

The ability to receive the Truth depends upon the condition of the heart of the one to whom it is given. As Jesus teaches in the parable of the seeds/soils, the heart that is ready to receive Him is the one that will bear much fruit. The fact that the Truth does not bring forth any good fruit in this situation is a reflection on the condition of the heart.

I don’t say this to you alone, Tweety, but it applies to all of us as a spiritual principle. As I have testified to you, I also was suffering from a similar hardness of heart, and got very angry and hurt when Catholics would tell me that I was outside of the Teachings of the Church. This was still the case only a short time ago when I joined CAF. I am pleased that they did not shrink back from the Truth, until I could come into it.
Guan,
You always have a way of speaking the truth in love.
It is love that makes so many of us tarry here.
So many of us can learn from your example.
A blessed New Year to you and yours.

*** “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ”***
** (Eph. 4: 15).**

I am not anti Catholic just do not agree on everything
Yes, Tweety, some of your beliefs and attitudes are quite anti-Catholic. Sola Scriptura being one of the main ones. Rejection of the authority appointed by Christ as another. I am sure you are not the only person in the pew at your parish with these anti-Catholic attitudes. The idea that you can call yourself a Catholic and reject the doctrines of the Church is, in itself, anti-Catholic.
Code:
and if you do Glory to you!
Your sarcasm is leaking again, Tweety. 😉

I know you don’t believe it is right to give Glory to any but God alone.
Code:
I do not judge you by anything.
Yes you do. YOu have measured elvis against your standards of love, kindness, gentleness, and humility and found him wanting.
I cannot be brainwashed.
Is that what you think people are who accept all the Teachings of the Church?

Is that why you are afraid to study the history of your faith?

Most victims of childhood abuse have been brainwashed, and it is only natural for them to distrust others, and have difficulty accepting ideas that may prove to be harmful. Children are naturally trusting, and when that trust is abused and misused, they have trouble learning to trust again. God can heal that, though. 👍
I at 38 had a life changing experience with Jesus, and have followed it since and I am now 72. I love Jesus iwht all my heart and soul and always will.
From your mouth, to God’s ear!

Have you ever considered that the feedback you are getting here on CAF is Jesus trying to lead you closer to Himself?
I do not teach anything contrary to Catholic teaching, that is not my job. I do not tell others to go against anything. Only teach them the Love of Christ.
This may go over in your parish, but it certainly is not the case here. In fact, you have advocated most anti-Catholic posts and ideas that are made here by Protestants. You validate your own and their rebellion against the Apsotolic faith. You go against the Teachings of the Church you claim to belong to. None of these actions show the love of Christ.

I can’t agree; he who strived to enter the gate and were able to enter because they completely denied self. Once in their in the gate, will they then turn around to strive to leave? “He who began a good work will complete it till the day of the Lord”
If you still commit sin, then you have not completely denied self. You denied self on one day for sure, the day you came to the Lord, but He requires that we deny self every single day of our lives if we desire to enter into eternal life. If we do not deny ourselves daily, then we are not worthy of eternal life with the Person who paid the terrible price to reconcile us to God.

Luke 9:23
Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

Matthew 10:38
And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

When we sin, we deny Him by our evil works. By choosing to sin, we deny Christ.

Titus 1:16
They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.

He denies all those who deny Him (by their evil works) before His Father.

Matthew 10:33
But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

Luke 13:23-27
And someone said to Him, “Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?” And He said to them, 24"Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25"Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open up to us!’ then He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from.’ 26"Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets’; 27and He will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you are from; DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU EVILDOERS.’(NASB)

Nope - just puzzled as to why your parish would allow such an anti-Catholic to teach catechumens.
I really don’t think they realize it. I think on the outside, she appears more committed adn dedicated than most of the parish. She says her priest knows her “feelings” but it may not be that he knows how deep her rebellion and hostility against the Catholic faith. If it is true what she says, that she avoids bringing out these dissident ideas in RCIA,then it may not be obvious to any of them.
It brings to mind Matt 7:15-20 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves.
By their fruits you will know them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
Just so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a rotten tree bears bad fruit.
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit.
**Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. **
So by their fruits you will know them."
It sounds like Tweety bears a lot of good fruit in her parish. She does not do it here on CAF, but to her parish, I am sure she looks like a dedicated servant of God.

People are not reborn because of a water baptism. Christian water baptism was not in existence when Jesus had his conversation with nicedemus.
Joh 3:22 After this Jesus and his disciples went into the Judean countryside, and he remained there with them and was baptizing.
Joh 3:23 John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because water was plentiful there, and people were coming and being baptized

Since Jesus instructed them, and authorized them, how is this not “Christian baptism”?

What kind of baptism do you think it was?

That was not very Christ-like to say you used scripture to insult a child of God? What Christian would do that? You should apologize to her; you just said people cannot read hearts then you do the exact same thing with that post and worse you used the Word of God to do it…shame on you, shame on you.
Mac, I think you are coming in a little late on this conversation. Tweety rejects Catholic doctrine, yet, she is in a position to teach the new converts coming into the faith. Many Catholics here on CAF have expressed concerns about what she teaches them. She is a very good Baptist theologically. This is of limited benefit to persons seeking Catholic instruction.

No one has read her “heart”. In fact, she seems like a very sincere, committed, fervent Christian serving in a Catholic parish. She does a lot for Catholics, considering that she has rejected Catholicism. 😃

that is very generous, I think.

“Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:”
How can you read this, and not get the sense that it is possible to fall?

Code:
The Bible does not teach about a single Catholic church and by no means did Jesus mention such a church.
Mac, you have been misled. In fact, the NT talks about only ONE CHURCH, and Jesus repeatedly talks about establishing “MY Church”. there are not “churchs” plural, but only one Church.

In the Bible, that Church is described as Catholic. The term stuck, and was used do describe the One Church founded by Christ for 1054 years.
Read the first 3 chapters of revelation to get a picture of how the Lord Himself watches over His churchs on earth within each is the true church of God from all walks of life, not restricted to one church denomination.
The communities addressed in Rev. were all Catholic.

There were no "denominations’. These are a man made condition that began about 1500 years ago. Jesus wants us all to be One.
Code:
Jesus told us the Father looks for worshipers who worship in "spirit and truth"; neither is visable and we know that within any congregation there are those who worship in spirit and truth and those that do not. This would be contrary to the Lords own teaching and the reality we see in the world of Christianity.
No, in fact, this is the teaching of the Catholic Church. 👍

Looking at what God is doing, though, from a worldly point of view, will not help us.

Worship in the spiritual realm is for God alone; any other type of worship of the spiritual nature will violate the first two commandments and the second one particularly. God tells us to honor those who are in earthly authority and even says that pastors who work hard at preaching and teaching are worthy of double honor, but that is at a human and worldly level not the spiritual level. This is why Jesus said the the Father is seeking worshipers who worship Him in spirit and truth.
Mac, I think you missed the mark here. The Apostles do not encourage us in behavior that is on a “human and worldly level”. The honor that we give to those who are over us in the Lord emanates from the spiritual plane. The source of that honor is their obedience to God. It has nothing to do with a human and worldly “level” but results from our esteem for their obedience to God on a spiritual level.

The worship in spirit and truth is the holy sacrifice of the mass.

You have done a great job of jumping right in there. God Bless you Told you I am always in trouble:thumbsup:
Yep, he sure did! I think he is a reincarnation of 2nd, or maybe just sent by him to defend you?

The only “trouble” comes from claiming you are Catholic when you reject the Catholic faith. Other than this, what trouble is there?

I really don’t think they realize it. I think on the outside, she appears more committed adn dedicated than most of the parish. She says her priest knows her “feelings” but it may not be that he knows how deep her rebellion and hostility against the Catholic faith. If it is true what she says, that she avoids bringing out these dissident ideas in RCIA,then it may not be obvious to any of them.

It sounds like Tweety bears a lot of good fruit in her parish. She does not do it here on CAF, but to her parish, I am sure she looks like a dedicated servant of God.
Sorry, but you can’t claim to be a Catholic while preaching a totally different message and consider that to be good fruit.

Unfortunately there are many bad RCIA instructors out there who are spreading falsehoods. I hear many of their students on CA Live and read their posts on this forum. It is a tragedy how some of these parishes will allow renegade pseudo-Catholics like Tweetymom become RCIA instructors. There really needs to be better screening process.

The fact that her views are welcome in her parish only speaks to the degeneration of Catholic doctrine in some parishes. My parish was a good example of how bad this kind of thing can get until we finally got a pastor who is on fire for God - even though our Bishop is one of the leading voices of liberalism in the U.S.

Our current pastor would never allow someboy like Tweetymom to pollute the minds of catechumens who are striving to learn the fullness of the gospel that is only found in the Church.

What gospel is that? Sounds more like the “not so good “good news””.
Why? Do you not really believe that Jesus wants to save you from your sins?
I would hate to think my Savior would ever forsake me; i didn’t deserve to be in His presence when He rescued me from sin and He knows when He rescued me I would still sin, albeit much less, but He knew what He bought and paid for with His life, so if He can save me in His death how much more can He keep me in His life?
2Ti 2:12 if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us;
2Ti 2:13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful-- for he cannot deny himself.

He will always give you the freedom to walk a away from Him. If you do, He will be there waiting, watching the horizon, knocking at the door, waiting for you to return.

I call my own “second baptism” heresy. :o
But that’s just me. 🤷
No, it was not. Neither was Tweety’s. One cannot commit heresy in ignorance. When one goes astray because they don’t know any better it is not a willful rejection of the Truth.

Although only one baptism is vaild, those who are baptized again do so because they don’t understand the apostolic teaching on baptism. Since they never received the truth, they cannot be accused of departing from it.

i would not worry too much about TweetyMom, I have been reading her posts and many others to get a good fell of things here. ** Each person should focus on their own salvation and relationship with the Lord,**
Have you considered that it is a bit cheeky for you to come to a Catholic forum, and immediately begin instructing Catholics how to express their faith?

Or, maybe this is not new for you at all? 😉
for I see many teachers here in whom shoes I would not want to be in on the day I meet the Lord. .
Can you please elaborate on this?

I missed a very important Scripture. 😊

1 Timothy 5:19
Do not receive an accusation against an elder except from two or three witnesses.
It’s also testimony to establish truth!

“And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”

"I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. "

“And if you are willing to accept it, John himself is El]ijah who was to come"

"and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”

I think we would differ when we get to the Catholic definition of Justification:

Justification is then a one time event imputed by the righteousness of Christ to the sinner

and unlike the Catholic doctrine where they mix justification and sactification as a process infused by grace and is continued on the sinners own virtue rather than through the shed blood of Christ. By it then a Catholic moves in and out of salvation by his own actions rather than on the merits of the Cross.
Can you please post a Catholic source for this? This statement is not consistent with Catholic teaching, and it sounds like it came from the writings of someone who does not understand the docrtrines of the faith.

It is actually a very slanderous statement.

Romans 6:8-23
Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. … For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace…But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification…But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you **derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. **23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We die to sin through baptism. Colossians 2:11-12 We are spiritually regenerated through Baptism. Baptism saves/justifies us.

Titus 3:4-7
but when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit, 6 which he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 **so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life. **

Washing which He poured out upon us means water Baptism. 🙂

Christ reconciles us spiritually to God through Baptism. We now have **hope of eternal life **and we should become heirs of the kingdom of heaven.

We must imitate Christ and live our lives to God, in obedience to His commands, if we desire to actually become heirs of the kingdom of God. We must be dead to sin - we must not commit sins (sow to the flesh), we must instead do works of righteousness (sow to the Spirit) Galatians 6:8 in order to remain dead to sin and inherit the promises Hebrews 6:12 at the end of our lives Matthew 24:12-13.

Hebrews 9:15
Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred which redeems them from the transgressions under the first covenant.

Ephesians 2:15
having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is,** the law of commandments contained in ordinances**, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace,

The “law of commands contained in ordinances” refers to the Sabbath restrictions, dietary laws, etc. Christ’s New Covenant frees us from these laws of the Law of Moses.

to be continued…

Dear brothers and sisters not many should become judges of ones faith or if that person knows what Grace is. Why oh why do I need to read what grace is when I already know/🤷
Your posts indicate that your understanding of grace is not Catholic (incomplete).
Number one I do not believe osas. I knoe that i am saved and that sometimes it is a daily struggle to stay there. It is not easy but praise be to God I’ve been working and know I have Jesus in my corner.
May His grace and light fill your corner, and draw you ever closer to Himself. 👍
