The strangest one I’ve ever heard is, “Do Catholics have to shave their pubic hair?”
I still laugh when I think of that one.
Code:
                            :ehh: :eek::bigyikes: :rotfl:
oh my! someone has had some kind of imagination. Did you hear that personally? oh my, oh my…
I think they were thinking of the Muslims. They do all sorts of goofy stuff, too.

Wow, thanks for the link. My response is…:bigyikes: once again. Learn something new every day.

Last night one of my RCIA students came in to class in tears. A couple claiming to be ‘ex-Catholics’ told her that we are an evil cult and that demons stand around the foot of every crucifix during Mass.
That’s too bad. People like that couple don’t really believe that about actual Catholicism though, they believe that about a caricature of Catholicism.

In Christ,
Nancy 🙂

So sad. Truly demons do stand around looking for an opportunity to pounce on members of Christ, but not at Mass!

PS: Catholic4aReason,Thank you for responding in that horrid thread on the site that Sir and I are becoming frustrated with.
You’re welcome, but I ended up unsubscribing. “Horrible” doesn’t come close to discribing that site. The foul language in common use there made my toes curl. I’m not willing to subject myself to that in order to find a thread or two to subscribe too. Also it’s hard to enter a conversation that’s already 11 pages long.

What took you to that site in the first place?

In Christ,
Nancy 🙂

I play a computer game called “The Sims 2” It’s actually quite a fun game based on the families (which you make up and control) that live in Sim City. I joined this site mainly to download usermade furniture and clothing but was drawn into the “war zone” because it’s the only place that people are allowed to discuss topics that could cause fights on the forum. Obviously religion does tend to do that on secular forums… I stay because I’m opinionated LOL! Naw, I stay to keep them “honest”. I can’t stand the idea that the Church is persecuted without any type of defense… I feel that it not only hurts catholics, but it can also hurt those would be catholics.

Whew! You’ve got guts. But this urisStar person is so completely irrational as to appear pathological. Her positions remind me of Jack Chick: so nuts that they make people look into what the Church really teaches because it is so obvious that *this *stuff can’t be true.

I had a baptist tell me of the fortune that the Catholic church has made selling holy water.

**The Pope is considered God on earth:nope: The miracles surrounding the saints are because in “reality” they are witches:eek: We have 2 Bibles:nope: And of course we worship statues:bowdown: **

Here are some of the ways that we have heresies in the Catholic Church.

This list is infamous and appears in quite a few places with only minor changes.

baptistpillar.com/bd0293.htm

I used to believe some of the things on the list. For example:
24. The dogma of Transubstantiation was decreed by Pope Innocent III, in the year…1215

By this doctrine the priest pretends to perform a daily miracle by changing a wafer into the body of Christ, and then he pretends to eat Him alive in the presence of his people during Mass. The Bible condemns such absurdities; for the Lord’s Supper is simply a memorial of sacrifice of Christ. The spiritual presence of Christ is implied in the Lord’s Supper. (Read Luke 22:19-20; John 6:35; I Cor.11:26).
  1. The apocryphal books were added to the Bible also by the Council of Trent in…1546
Those are things that I was taught as a protestant.

Here is what I would say. Second paragraph.
But, the Catholic Church didn’t come into exestance around 380. More like 33 or there abouts. Apostolic succession and the papacy already was around from the earliest. see catholic.com/library/church_papacy.asp

Fourth paragraph, Yet he doesn’t seem to be dealing with spiritual things accuratly as seen above. What does that mean about him?

Sixth, I am not an expert on the lady that he is refrenceing to but, I do know that people ussaly don’t get “aborted” from the church as he said, unless he/she has done something that the church expressly forbids (abortion mertis automatic excomunication). I have never heard of someone getting the boot for not beleiveing eavrything that the church belives (senator Kerry/Ted kennedy anyone) though they are not the best of catholics and need to be corrected.

Seventh P, there are two distictions between abortion and excomunication.
1, the baby from the abortion ain’t coming back period. The excomm. person can come back.
2.an abortion is 9 out of 10 time the mother thinking about herself (moms/dad/husband are going to be so mad at me for this “unwanted” chil) while excom. is to save all around from the evil influence of that person till he/she (hopefully) comes around.

Well, I hope this “script” 🙂 helps. I read one of posts and I already feel like I need to go to confession I mean. What an annoying (ignorant) person. If he acctually knew what he was talking about. The church started at 380?!? someone please introduction this dimwit to the ECF.
Loboto-me, Sir Knight… Good luck.

I know I’m a little late on this discussion… but, here’s my favorite “bookstore” moment…

Two years ago, I needed to get a gift for a friend who went through RCIA and was being confirmed… so I decided to get him a good Catholic bible. The nearest Catholic Bookstore was a good 30 minutes drive away, so as I was driving to it, I passed a “Mardel’s Christian Bookstore” in the city. So, I thought, “Well, I guess they might have one.” So, deciding to give it a shot (and hoping to save a ton of time) I decided to pull in.

I went inside and asked the cashier standing by the door, “Excuse me, could you point me into the direction of where your Catholic bibles are located?”

To which she replied, “Oh, honey… this is a Christian bookstore… we don’t carry anything like that.”

Haha. I believe my reaction looked something like this:

Lol.

If God was dead, Jesus Christ was no longer the head of the Church, and His Word had no life and all that stood was the roman catholic church and the pope they still would not be my choice of a god. But no one is taking them from you as you have chosen to worship a man and a building made by human hands.
alright, when we deciede to make the Pope and the church God, that will acctually mean something, till then try something diffrent.
I am here to give you the good news, God is not dead, Jesus is still the head of the Church and His Word is life and truth.
Wow. How did we miss that? is this guy serious? This is guy is about as idiotic as can be imagined. The catholic church has been teaching “God is not dea” before his heresy was even an ich in satans pants.
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved me, even when I was dead in sinsm hath quickened me together with Christ, (by grace I am saved and have raised me up,and made me sit in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward me through Christ Jesus.
Yeah, it comes through confession.
For by grace I am saved through faith; and that not of myself: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest I should boast. For I am his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God have before ordained that I should walk in them.
“Faith without Works is dead” James chapter 2
In the past I was a gentile in the flesh, who was called uncircumcise by those which is called the circumcision in the flesh made by hands; and at that time I was without Christ, being an alien from the commonwealth of Israel, and a stranger from the covenant of promise, having no hope, and without God in this world.
And he still is. Dang.
But now in Christ Jesus I who sometimes was far off am nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is my peace, who have made me one with Him, and have broken down the middle wall of partition between Him and I; having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain one new manm so making peace; and that he might reconcile Him and I unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: and He came and preached peace to me.
Didn’t Jesus say that not all that say “lord, Lord will make it to heaven but, the DOERS of the fathers will”. Stress Doers.
And through Him I have access by one Spirit unto the Father. I am no longer a stranger or a foreigner, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and I am built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whome I also have been builded together of an habitation of God through the Spirit.
Then why don’t you do what they tell you to do?
In Him I have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him, and for this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of my Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.
That’s great but, your still not doing what he wants you to do.
See I have chosen the best part, I have no need of the roman catholic church or her pope, for I sit in heavenly places with Christ.
No you have not chosen the best path as scripture shows.
PS: How does it feel to worship a building and a man with empty claims that is powerless? Jesus is calling and you chose man, so enjoy eace
When did we start worshiping buildings and men? I must have missed that in R.C.I.A. classes.

Does he actually look at what we are saying? Will someone please ask this (self-censor)…(three minitues later Self-censor) to acctually address some of these things that we say. If he is right he should be able to show us how we are wrong. Or is he just going to ramble on aimlessly?

Please, sit him down. Show him an argument for one of our beliefs and ask him, “If this is wrong, Show me how?” Don’t let him lead us. We should lead for a while. Tango music slowly starts in the background as I pull a rose out of nowwhere

I knew it all along. Ya’ll were just trying to sucker me in. How is it I never noticed? 😛 Nice to know that someone esle finds this so obsurd that it’s funny. I think we need to track these people down and start catapolting Rosaries at them. 😃

Oh my gosh Montie, you’re funny! I just had my first LOL moment today!

Well, Laboto-me and Sir Knight . I have joined the race with you and hopefully I will be of some use to so these poor people how to read there bible. 😃 Please pray that God will give me the right words to reach out to these guys as I shall pray for you.

I remeber watching the Movie Rudy once and I can’t help but, repeat one line and it goes like this:

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
Blessed art thou amongst women,
And Blessed is the fruit of the womb, JESUS,
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death,
…Hail Mother of Victory,
Pray for us.

Good to see ya there. Maybe another person explaining things another way will make a difference. Let’s see.
Montie Claunch:
Show him an argument for one of our beliefs and ask him, “If this is wrong, Show me how?” Don’t let him lead us.
That’s what I was TRYING to do a few times but it didn’t work.
