I liked this picture so much that I changed my signature picture to it.

A most beautiful heavenly sign.

It is a pretty picture. But:

The symbolism in the photo is wonderful. Since our one, holy, Catholic and apostolic church is led by the Holy Spirit, that photo expresses that fact perfectly.
 
How did you reach the conclusion that this was a heavenly sign? Or do you just mean that it’s a suitably symbolic image?
 
So if he gets canonized then, he would become St Francis II?
Actually, no. There are other St. Francis besides the one from Assisi. In order to be St. Francis II, there would have to have been a first Pope St. Francis.

I recall a dove refusing to leave Pope Benedict XVI, as well. It’s a nice thought that it symbolizes the Holy Spirit descending on the Holy Father, but the reality probably has a more prosaic explanation, as cited by tee_eff_em. 😉
