What is the similarity there? The sky is not like a wall…
He doesn’t really require that. If you ask for Grace to not fall into sin, He gives it to you, pretty instantly. Do this at the beginning of temptation, do not wait until you’re about to fall into it.I have studied it but no one has yet explained why God requires that we suffer before giving poor sinners enough grace to stop sinning.
Hm, that’s not good. We want to be like Jesus, who suffered. What is lacking in the Crucifixion? Our own sufferings. We can combine them with Christ’s sufferings.I don’t see the value in suffering.
Some people’s prayers are more efficacious than others, that’s why.If God won’t answer my prayers, why would prayer to her make any difference?
After the LORD had spoken these words to Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. Now therefore take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept his prayer not to deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.” So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did what the LORD had told them, and the LORD accepted Job’s prayer.
You are generally correct, but just noting that martyrs only need one miracle to be made saints under the current process. They are beatified without needing a miracle, by virtue of their status as martyrs for the faith. They then need one miracle to be canonized.Being elevated to sainthood requires two miracles to be attributed to intercessory prayer to the saint candidate.
Are you sure that you don’t just have a problem with the story because this lady got “an answer” and you yourself haven’t received the answer you want in your own prayers?I want truth and my life to be built upon facts, thinking /this/ is the best means to happiness, and that means pointing out errors in what I read (such as calling private revelation a ‘miracle’) and asking questions to try to uncover facts.
Well I’ll tell you, if I was praying for a deathly ill friend, and John Paul II appeared before me and proceeded to pray for my friend too, I would not hesitate to call that a miracle. I doubt that many people, other than you, would ever think that was NOT a miracle. That was no ordinary occurrence.I’m merely saying the author was incorrect to refer to that woman’s private revelation and the other woman’s medical care as a miracle.
Can you show me an authoritative source on the Catholic Church’s definition on what constitutes a “miracle”?This is Church teaching on what the word ‘miracle’ means.
