A better argument would be that Hell should not exist, because no rational being would choose eternal separation from God over eternal union with God.
Then why do rational people (highly educated bankers, doctors, businessmen, educators, etc) choose to do evil? Adultery, lying, stealing, pornography, child sex, cheating, tax evasion, environment destruction etc.

Hence your proposition that rationality is a discriminant between good/evil does not hold. Atheists can be rational as well depending on topics.

Rational beings do not always act rationally.

Catechism of the Catholic Church
1872 Sin is an act contrary to reason. It wounds man’s nature and injures human solidarity.

1730 God created man a rational being, conferring on him the dignity of a person who can initiate and control his own actions. "God willed that man should be ‘left in the hand of his own counsel,’ so that he might of his own accord seek his Creator and freely attain his full and blessed perfection by cleaving to him."26
Man is rational and therefore like God; he is created with free will and is master over his acts.27

what about this definition

A man is rational in his actions if they are performed in accordance with some sensible reasons which make the aim he pursues possible of attainment.

According to the above definition, our upper faculties can pursue subjective good. It seems to me then that it’s possible for someone acting rationally to be sinning.
