I’m not sure I get this. It seems to be the polar opposite of the op.

Which works for me. Baby seals are a plague, a nightmare, a cause of great social evil.😃
The were a staunchly pro-abortion in many ways, to the point that they felt it should be forced. But yet kill a baby seal and they went crazy.

Gotcha.

I think you are the only one who understood the barb in my first post.

Balut (fertilized duck egg) considers a much-loved Filipino Delicacy
That picture was sooo gross!
Eggs are not chicken embryos. They are not fertilized. If you have ever had the misfortune to crack one into the pan that has been fertilized, you would understand why we don’t eat them either.
Thanks for this info. I’m a vegetarian and I occasionally eat eggs, so Catholic 90s picture was freaking me out

Wow, this OP really backfired as I expected it would.
Well, starting a thread purely to “bait” someone is never a particularly intelligent tactic.

Until I joined CAF I never realized there were so many nasty Catholics. So many of the threads on here are intended to insult people who are different. I imagine if I stay here long enough this place will drive me away from the Church in search of kindness, compassion, and brotherly love. Since I revealed that I’m a vegetarian in my previous post, I suspect the OP will attack me mercilessly.

My first inclination is to say, “Grow up”. You need to distinguish heated internet discussion from “nastiness”. Yes, some posts are designed to be sarcastic. If you don’t like a post, report it; the moderators here are fair and will usually edit it if they agree. If they think it is intentionally nasty, they will admonish the forumite. You’ll notice that there are occasionally posters marked as “banned” or “account under review”.

My second inclination is to say, please don’t judge the entirety of Catholics based on what you read on an internet forum. My guess is that most people here wouldn’t dare say some of what they write, in the way that they’ve written it, directly to another person in a face to face conversation. Such is the medium of the internet forum. People tend to be bolder than in person.

But to address your concern about being attacked; you’ve prejudged the OP, haven’t you? I’ve never seen someone excoriated over professing to be a vegetarian. What rankles people and draws fire is when vegetarians proclaim that eating meat is bad for you, eating meat is offensive to God since it involves killing animals, etc. etc. In other words, when vegans become high and mighty and preach to the rest of us who do eat meat.

I will say too that if you’re depending on this forum to either inspire you to join the RCC or stay away from it, you need to get out there and away from your computer screen. Religion is not lived out there in cyberspace.

Now give us Catholics a big hug :grouphug: and we’ll all have some carrot sticks. 😉

**I am grown up, which is why I don’t run crying to the moderators every time someone is nasty. **

I don’t judge all of Catholics by the nasty ones here. I’m just pointing out the fact that this is how they choose to represent Catholicism.**

How have I prejudged the OP? Look at the title of this thread!

I am already a Catholic, but yes, I am looking for inspiration here. The CAF profile choices included under “I’m here for” includes “faith building” so apparently the CAF administrators disagree with you about the purpose of this site.

you need to get out there and away from your computer screen. Religion is not lived out there in cyberspace.

What makes you think that’s a possibility? What do you know about my life situation? If you’re able to “get out there” whenever you like, then thank God for being so fortunate. Not everyone is equally fortunate and some people who are not so fortunate thank God for the social opportunities provided by cyberspace.

Now give us Catholics a big hug :grouphug: and we’ll all have some carrot sticks. 😉
:grouphug: That’s what I’m here for.

Well, if this is your only faith outlet, I guess I understand and I apologize. For most folks, it’s probably not a good idea to get too wrapped up in internet forums.

I will say, though, if the “nastiness” gets bothersome, take a break or find another outlet. I doubt very much any of the originators of this website would intend it to replace other outlets for faith. Education, yes. Community, maybe. Better than spending time in prayer…I seriously doubt it.

It appears that so far you’ve escaped excoriation for professing vegetarianism. 😃
