Sweden is at the top here. Note that this is atheism+agnostism. There are statistics on atheism only there but they’re slightly outdated. Still they give you a general idea. The issue here is that the definition of atheism is quite broad. In America, for instance, atheism has a very negative connotation and people are less likely to identify themselves as one.

Also I updated the post you quoted slightly.
ā€œThese figures do not necessarily represent the number of people who are identify themselves as ā€œatheists.ā€ For example, in Estonia in 2004, 49% of people surveyed said they did not believe in God. At the same time, only 11% of people in the country identified themselves as atheists.ā€

Taken from the top page of that site.

Again, it’s the definition. You don’t sign up for atheism anywhere, you just stop believing. Some people call it not believing, some people call it atheism. What’s the difference between not believing in god, agnosticism and atheism in the sense of not having god? That was stated to be the issue in China.

but why do we not see this damage in societies that have high atheist percentages then?
It’s all relative.
You may not see 30,000 to 40,000 abortions a year as damage either, but Catholics would.

That’s definitely debatable, but this was not the point which brought me into this discussion. It was the statement that atheism is the cause of China’s problems which, as I have proven earlier in this thread, it cannot be.

No, you have not proven for I am not convinced.

I truely and honestly doubt that. šŸ™‚
Of course you do.
The things you mentioned are of God though, you should know that, you were a Christian once.
Now, you toss out God and you can pick and choose what you want to believe on subjects of morality. I bet you thing drugs, alcohol & premarital sex are just fine.
But when you follow your logic to certain ends, murder of Christians, which would further your cause, is some how wrong to you and you can’t explain why.

I’m just trying to get you to think about the possibility that God exsists beyond our ability to prove that he does.
Do you think there is a possibility that the tooth fairy exists beyond our ability to prove that it does?

You stated that places with more atheists have better living conditions, but it’s all relative. There are way too many factors to just toss that claim out there.

No, people have stated that atheism is the cause of the persecution of Christians in China, to which you haven’t been able to deny.

If the tooth fairy entered space and time, lived, died and resurrected, and this event was witnessed by hundreds, and those hundreds (thousands actually) were tortured and killed rather than recant their beliefs, while all the while documenting his life, death and resurrection for posterity, then, yes, I would believe in the tooth fairy (and so should you for that matter). 😃

Don’t you see that’s exactly what I mean? Just tossing out a claim that atheism is the cause of all of China’s problem is the same as saying it is the cause of all of Norway’s benefits.

I stated that one place had better living conditions, but that was to emphasize that atheism does not equal poor living conditions like in China.
Of course you do.

As a former christian I do now they are credited to god, yes. The fact that science may not be able to explain them right now does not give god the monopoly.

I cannot pick my morality, I haven’t been reset or anything like that. I removed my faith in god. End of story. I have the same morality. I don’t do drugs, I don’t smoke, I have premarital sex but I did as a christian as well, and I do drink alcohol. Too much isn’t good for me. How does this lead me to murder of christians? I do not follow this logic.
No, you have not proven for I am not convinced.
This means I have not proven it to you.

I’ll sum it up.
Btw, you mean like the slave labor camps in the utopia of atheist, communist, China?
This is what ticked me off. jam proclaims that the slave labor camps and all the misery in China is due to atheism (not only in this post but also in the following ones). Here’s why atheism can not be a significant cause to this:
  • Only 14% of China’s population is atheist.
  • Even America has a higher atheist percentage - where are the American slave labor camps?
  • Someone stated China is the way it is because they have no god, but Norway, named four years in a row of having the best living conditions in the world has 68% of their citizens with no god

(we at least have witnesses stating God did walk this earth, his name was Jesus, the Christ), so where does that leave us?
You have no evidence outside of the bible that Jesus Christ existed.

None.

=mrhenrik;5280351]I need to research that more. Absense of proof is not proof of absense. šŸ˜‰
Atheism does not explain anything though. An atheist is a person without a belief in a supreme being. There’s nothing more to it. Science might do a bad job describing what love comes from, but it can’t simply choose not to. There’s no such unity. I’m quite sure that if science has not found the answer yet, it’s still looking.

**I’m no scientiest but I can give youthe definitive awswer of where ā€œlove comes from.ā€
It Orginates in our mind, is nutured by our intellect [if I love so and so, So and So may love me back] and is engaged, put into action by our freewills. Amen!**
ntengalia, if it does not involve emotion, what does it involve?
Love is NEVER accidentail, it is always a freewill, mind and intellect choice!
I am, I rely on something logical according to the laws of nature and the scientific research we have done. I don’t change my life according to it though. I claim god cannot be proven - absolutely. Can you prove god?

Yes I can IF you are Intellectually honest? What I can’t prove is that His name is ā€œGod.ā€
**
Are you completely honest with yourself?**

Would you like me to do this for you?

Friend, I await you’re reply.

Love and prayers
Pat
ntengalia, no love in an atheist? That’s just nonsense.
Isn’t it nice that we can agree on something:thumbsup:
