Not really. Could you provide some specific reasons.

Well, people have used the Bible to justify horrible things, but isn’t the fault of the Bible. More specifics here would help as well.

I’m sorry to hear that, but true Christians are not thugs roaming the hallways dispensing what they believe to be justice via physical means. I don’t care what they call themselves, they are attempting to excuse their actions by hiding behind a religion that not only condemns their actions but exposes them for what they are.
The OT shows a brutal god who likes to stone. Stone your children if they do not behave. Stone the nonbelievers! And all of that stuff. I think most everyone would agree with my when I say the OT is brutal.
Wars have been fought over religion. People have been killed. Some Christians are very violent when it comes to their god. Okay, maybe they aren’t true Christians, but they are in fact Christians.

Those “true to heart christians” who are brutal are mentally ill…just using God as an excuse…I am a true believer, I am not violent and if people don’t want to believe, too bad for them, I don’t need to “explain” my belief in Jesus…He is a part of my my life and I feel sorry for anyone who doesn’t have Jesus in their life, because it is a wonderful feeling…I would never go on an atheist website, why do atheists try to make us not believe?..it is an insult…Believe or don’t believe in what you want but please leave us believers alone to worship Jesus…
Atheists try to gather their thoughts and scientific theorys and put it out there and let you decide. Though if you do talk to them you are likely to end up in a debate, which isn’t a bad thing.

Hi Annabea , Although I’m a lot older than you it doesn’t seem so long ago when I was your age. At 12 years old its easy to see faults in your parents.
I saw lots of faults in mine.

Now they’re gone , I thank God for them and I wouldn’t swap them for anyone else.
I hope to meet them again when its my turn to go.

Also to meet again my dear friends who have passed on.
Last and not least to see in Person the Saviour that I love .

Christianity is the religion of hope and the future .

Don’t throw it away for FUTILITY of a narrow existence centred on self and dependant on the affirmation of friends

Atheism offers you ZERO

Nothing comes from nothing…

Pray for wisdom

God bless you, Tonette
Correction:
Christianity is a religion on which the followers rely on an afterlife, if it isn’t there…then they would have spent a 7th or more of their life worshipping something that wasn’t there.
Atheism offers a different look at the world and freedom. Atheists are not limited to what a book tells them what they can and can’t do. They are more self independent. Yet, they are also mature, you do not see atheists coming up in the paper because they are on a mass murder spree. There are so many more Christians in jails than atheists. Yes, there are a lot more Christians, but there are also a lot of atheists believe it or not. And still, it doesn’t even out the charts. The atheists in prisons are more like 0.01% or something and Christians being like 85%. Its crazy.

I think we can all here agree we should try to be good to each other and do that which is right, we may differ on that ut Atheists and Christians and others do have that duty. To make the world a better place then when we came into it.

As for the questioner here that is good, don’t lock into one mindset many people I know do and makes fun of the ULC and my work. Its we that dream and imagine and get inspired from all paths that make a difference as well. So read on all the religions, real philosophy and other materials then make up your own mind and think for yourself. I like to think if there is one supergod overseeing this all he gave us as humans the faculty of reason for a purpose to use it, gave us our imagination to wonder and gave us our fundamental right to act with our conscience - how can he or she or it bame us for then using these to logical ends.

you need to provide some sources for these statistics you are giving here. where did you get this information from?

yes, christianity does rely on an afterlife. what if you are wrong and there IS an afterlife? you could be spending that “7th” of your life working to have a glorious eternity instead of a fiery one.

you are still so young. your mind has been set astray by an anti-God community. they are doing their darndest to brainwash the young and you are falling into their trap quite nicely. as your life progresses you will have your God-moments. we all get them. i just hope and pray that you are open-minded enough to heed the call.

I do not love my enemies. I do not hate them. I don’t hate anyone, I am actually not a grudge holder. I don’t like the feeling of anger.

Actually, I am not here because I have a spark of faith. I belong to an atheist forum that pointed me in this direction because I am trying to get some experience in debating. I also need to learn the Christians side of things before I am to debate fully. So this is a learning experience more than a faith journey. Thanks though.
Personally I don’t think anyone here can give you what you want. God is not something that we NEED to have shown to us. We believe in God simply because we are his Children. We have chosen God because we want to be with him in the next world.

Faith is something that you have inside of you, Its like Love. How can prove Love to someone. If they don’t really believe in it, and you asked someone to prove it to you, it could never been done. They could never do enough.

God gave us a choice. To choose him, or not too, If you choose him, and follow him you will have eternal life in him. Its really as simple as that. I Choose him, and eternal life.

If I am wrong I apologize but all I can see is you wanting to learn about God so you can tear down his word. I personally wlll play no part. I must shake the dust and move on. Hope all others will also.

They aren’t exact, I don’t know the exact figures, but I have seen quite a few pie graphs on that particular subject and it was something around there. Those are not exact or correct, they are simply what I remember, if anyone had an actually pie graph on that subject I would like to see it.
There could be an afterlife, but the chance that it is your afterlife and what you believe in is very slim. There are hundreds of thousands of religions out there, and many of them contain an afterlife. All of the followers claim they feel something of their god, they have just as much evidence as you do, you are the same.
I actually when to that community after I had figured out that I didn’t believe in the supernatural. I have seen debates and so on. As you can see I am spreading myself out and looking at many different theorys. Yet…I found found atheism as the most likely, to me at least.

I am not asking you to prove faith or explain what faith is, I’m asking why you have faith. You may be right, I may just want to learn about your god to only tear him down later. But right now I am trying to learn the workings and beliefs of people around the world. I call it close-minded if you do not open yourself to other religions and see what they believe in. Who knows? I may find a religion I really believe in.

Annabea,
You or anyone can easily learn about my church’s teachings on the internet, including finding a way to have a personal conversation with someone to answer questions, or to just view the beliefs. But I would challenge you to ask God in prayer if He exists and if He really loves you, and then if you will be patient for a few days and keep asking in prayer for a few days, I can assure you that you will find out in your heart that He does exist.

But He will not assert Himself into your life without your asking. He doesn’t work that way. He lets you choose without seeing. I hope you will try this simple approach. You have a seeking heart, and a kind heart, and are intelligent and thoughtful. You could sincerely try this. Have a good day.

whether they are exact or not is not the point, the point is what is the source. provide the news article or website where you found your statistics. references will help support your claims, otherwise they are just a bunch of hot air. you don’t have faith in God or the afterlife. i don’t have faith in your randomly supplied statistics.

Okay, I will. And from your experiences do you just hear a reply inside? Or is it a physical reply? Will I know it if I hear/see/feel it?

Okay then. Do you truly believe that the bible is a reliable source of information to base your life and state of thinking on?

ah, yes, a smart 12 year old - talk to you in 20 years.

Hello Annabea

Christians have no proofs.

I am an Atheist myself. I have been for about 30 years. I have engaged in many debates with Christians.

When all the talking is done, when all the preaching is done, when all the personal stories have been told.

You will not find one Christian in the 2 billion of them that will give you one shread of evidence that their god exist.

Not one.

That says alot about their religion.
Guess what it goes the other way as well the Atheist can not prove that there is no God. As for a shred of evidence to there being A God and Jesus as his son. they nailed him to a Cross buried him and he still got up and walked around for forty days after wards we have eye wittiness testimony to it.

Hi Annabea!

You might find it interesting to know that Catholics don’t believe that God just handed us a Bible and said, “That’s it!”

We believe God created a Church, and led that Church to determine which books belonged in the Bible.

You might also want to think about Pascal’s wager.

God bless you.

❤️ Love is Patient

not really from wikipedia

freethoughtpedia.com/wiki/Percentage_of_atheists

this site give numbers from 1997 and catholic sad to say is 39%

Annabea,
These are very important questions. I would say from my experience that it will be a feeling inside that is comfortable and joyful and peaceful. But if you also ask for other answers such as “Dear God, if you exist, will you help me to know what you want me to do in my life right now?”, then I think you will find that you are guided in specific ways as you study or as others are inspired to come to you, because God does love you and cares about you individually. He just is waiting for you to ask these kinds of questions. Please remember that He thinks about you specifically, and will answer you specifically in a way you understand. Again, thanks for asking such good questions.👍

Okay Annabea I will bite. The reason I have faith is because I know as a human being I cannot do it alone. No matter how much or little you have in this world you cannot obtain complete happiness. Why is that. Simple, You will not and cannot obtain complete happiness in this world. We will never experience it until the day you come into the actual presense and live with our Lord Jesus Christ. That is the real world and that is where there will be no death, no pain, complete happiness forever and ever. The reason we are put on this earth is to do Gods work. Why do I have faith, because without it my soul would be dead. There would be no eternal life to strive for. The reason I have faith is the same reason you work for a pay check. Faith in God is my paycheck, When I am depressed, sad, anxiety of this world takes over I pray to my God. Suddenly the anxiety, depression, sadness leaves. A peacefull bright happiness takes over my soul. Thats faith, that my True Dear Lord Jesus Christ.

Hey Annabea, I’m from the same forums as you. ;p
Here’s a few sources:
harrisinteractive.com/news/allnewsbydate.asp?NewsID=1131
In 2006, 18% of Americans described themselves as agnostic or atheist.

In 1997, 0,201% of American inmates were atheists.

bye
The last arguement of a guy who just lost a religious discussion to a 12 year old. I’m 18 - debate me instead?

Where is this evidence? I sure don’t hope you mean “eye witness accounts” written 200 years after the actual happening.
