I don’t understand. All Christians make up the church.
Yes if you are claiming that Catholic Christians did not write the NT,then tell us to what specific church they belong to? The Souther Baptist? Methodists? Jehovah Witnesses? Mormons? Church of Christ? Assemblies of God? This list can go on and on and on.

Yes by virtue of baptism we are all children of God and belong to His Body, but unfortunately many have divorced themselves from His One, Holy,Catholic,Apostolic Church whether they care to admit it or not.

lol

You actually think that the Apostles would have belonged to the mormon church?

The Apostles were Christians. And as such, belonged to the body of believers.

Claiming the Apostles were Roman Catholic makes about as much sense to me as claiming that they were jehovah’s witnesses.

No offense, but you seem to be dancing around the question being proposed to you- in all honesty. Yes the Apostles belong to the body of believers within the universal church, not separate denominations all claiming: we all belong to the body believers, regardless if we are separated.

LOL! Roman Catholic is merely one rite within the universal church. Different rites all under the Bishop of Rome and follow the same doctrines/dogma.

Is rite another word for denomination?

Nope! Rite derives from ritual or ceremony. Protestants who say the Catholic Church has denominations are confusing and using the term rite incorrectly. No different than different orders within the Catholic Church, but ALL are under the See of Rome. If they are denominations, then why are they all under the Bishop of Rome? Why do they all follow the same doctrines and dogmas? Denominations are exactly that…denominations and many are independent of each other, especially if they are two entire different ones.

*If you studied Church history you would think differently.

Hey Calgar, here’s something you might consider. I know that you probably believe that your own services are akin to those of the early church, right?

Could you take a look at this article on my blog that contains a historical record of what worship was like at that time and compare it to what you know of your own “liturgy” and the discuss it?

What Was Authentic Early Christian Worship Really Like?

Thanks! 🙂

I read the accounts in the blog. It all seems quite familiar. What portion, exactly, do you think we, Southern Baptists, don’t do?

Now, one thing I did notice, is that we generally do communion first, before the reading and teaching.

Just to clarify: my agreement with Cinette is not a negative reflection on Calgar in our PM discussions. Because of some of the responses, I feel like I am failing him–and there are many here who could probably do a better job or at least add to the discussion.

Peace,
Anna
I am sure that you and Calgar have mutually benefited from your PMs. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression.

God bless all
Cinette:)

That is right! We believe what has been taught as orthodox for 2,000 years and out of denial you choose to follow beliefs which came around centuries later.

No, you haven’t “failed” anything. You have given given very good arguments regarding Baptism and the Lord’s Supper that have caused me to give real pause for consideration.

I’m not going to be jumping over any fences soon, but I will be asking a few ministers some questions using some of the evidence you’ve brought up.

As for the PMs. Anna and I could never had this discussion in public. I was able to post some pretty personal stuff with her that would not have been appropriate in public and I was able to focus on the arguments presented rather than 8 other people.

stewstew03 is right. The OP has probably been answered.
And if your ministers can rebuke early church history with sound evidence not just mere opinions, then I will be a Protestant. Oh but guess what? No Protestant ever has precisely why I am a Catholic.

Cinette,
No worries. Calgar and I did have a good conversation. 🙂

Peace and blessings,
Anna
