As others have said, “What a gift”. I’m 33 yrs old and spent some 15 yrs away from an honest participation in Mass. It sounds like you were honestly approaching the Mass so you were already prepared to accept whatever came your way. I have also experienced this and yes it is glorious but relax! Be prepared for more experiences like this. I think if we worship Christ honestly and innocently he will do the same for us. Have you talked with your girlfriend about this? I’ll bet she would like to know about this. I am going to recommend a book called “A Still Small Voice” by Father Benedict Groeschel. It might help you sort through these very special emotions.

What a beautiful experience! :heaven: I started feeling the same way once I really ‘got’ the Real Presence, and although the tears don’t come at every Mass the feeling is still there. Not quite sad and not quite joy, but it’s sort of like this mixed with love, for me.

I second the other poster. Just spend some time near the Tabernacle in prayer, or adoration is just as good, if not better, except it’s more official so you wouldn’t be able to be alone with Him. It’s really incredible that God reached out to you like that! It’s so lovely hearing about how He shows His love to different people.

What a wonderful experience for your first Mass:) When I returned to the Church after being away nearly 30 years I cried during Mass every time I went for the first 4 months. It is still hard to describe what I was feeling at the time. Part of it was incredible joy at being back and part of it was sadness as I realized what I had been missing. I find that my emotions are often close to the surface when I am at Mass.
