Help with debating a Mormon

-It’s far too late to even care. Joey was a con man who put together books of bogus dreams with zero substance. He was in cahoots with other buddies out to make a buck. He had his “seer” stone charade in full gear. There is no other ‘supplemental book’ to the Bible that means a shred of anything; nada; zilch… Anyone with any religious sense realizes that. Someone from upstate NY comes around 1800+ years after the word of God is already etched in stone and says he wants to “restore Christianity”? He is a putz, pure and simple. I don’t know if Joe’s bar beer (he had a bar in his home) was of any note, but he is phonier than any fake prophet of his time.

I just want more info on who first wrote the first pizza, spaghetti, lasagna and hummus recipes. That’s all I need. Those writings are genious!

More great reading HERE…
Yep. As I said in a previous post, the Bible IS IT! Everything we need is in that book.

As for the recipes, you can give thanks to the Sicilians. The Roman legions of the time had Sicilians as their cooks. When they invaded other countries and left a cohort behind, their cook was evidently Sicilian and their dishes became quite popular among the people.Today almost all French, Spanish, etc. quisine is a variation of a typical Sicilian dish. ( Yep, my ancestry and legacy is Sicilian and darn proud of it! ). The dishes you mention, except for the hummus ( garbanzos, lemon, olive oil, salt, garlic ), are all from
Sicily originally.

We can not be hypocritical now, right? Or is Pope Benny okay to write on this board? 🤷
I don’t know about you, but “Pope Benny” gets me to singing “Bennie And The Jets”. Though it doesn’t fit very well, being Bennie is a girl and all. See what you made me do!

Do you ever stop trying to make yourself miserable?

Not to mention, it is beyond hypocritical to believe you can respect Joseph Smith and the Pope, all at the same time. No whyme, I have no, ZERO, respect for JS. Deal with it. The teachings of Joseph Smith are nothing but a con, an evil foisted on the world. Why do you think anyone should respect this?

It is legitimate to reject a false teaching as unsupported and unreasonable in the first instance. It is also legitimate to state that a person like Joseph Smith was a confidence man and a deceiver as long as you are prepared to prove that position.

However, it is quite another thing to taunt a person just because he sincerely entertains a contrary position. Taunting and derision displays a real lack of charity. And in the end it only makes the taunted person feel like a victim and a martyr.

I’ve found it extremely hard to win the hearts and minds of a people while simultaneously taunting them and jeering at them. The result is that they are driven more firmly into their original position. Taunting also gives such people a great excuse to ignore any substance to the contrary position.

Peace,
Robert

Sure, call him Pope Benny in a tone of disrespect. 🤷 I try not to get worked up over such issues, especially after posting on forums where that happens regularly and is allowed (cult, romish popery…
That must be why it smells so good inside a Catholic church…it’s all that popery!

I personally understand how easy it is to get upset and defensive of the things coming from an occult member. You must keep in mind that these occult members who remain in the occult do not wish to embrace the truth that is right infront of them, therefore trying to convince them of the truth is impossible and will only be done by themselves. These are poeple who think one of the twelve tribes came to america and where white skin, blue eyed along with Jesus! they believe God was once a man who serves his own God and that they can become a God themselves! there is enough to know that they are not rational and will not take God seriousely.

Just remember that God deals with disrespectful poeple from the beginning and with deal with them acordingly. Let this be a comfort to you and move on! Yes if there is an occult member who truely wishes to know the truth then abide them! I am proud to say that I have helped twelve different mormons see the light and leave the occult, but you will see quickly which ones choose to remain blind and those do not deserve your time and energy! Good luck!

Nicely put. It stays true to form, when an occult member cannot reinforce their statements with fact they simply resort to deflecting onto secondary issues, in this case the amount of respect that should be given in a post. Classic deflection due to the circumstance of not being able to validate J.Smith, the BoM, the Plates, or the ability to reinforce the beliefs held within Mormon teaching.

I deal with this behavior all the time when my Family visits, or when my “Home Teachers” swing by in an attempt to bring me back to the Mormon faith. People will change when they want to, you can’t force it on them. I try to remember people like Whyme in my prayers, I pray one day he/she can come to the true church of Christ and partake in the fullness of Gods Gospel. I really do.

Agreed. You are right on target.

The poster who would do it on this forum would feel the heat and would eventually be banned. The catholic posters would not tolerate it and report that poster quickly and immediately. Such a character would be hijacking good threads with his or her tone and wording. And if a mormon would do it, I would be the first to call him or her out on it. We all need to be sensitive to one another’s beliefs. And Lawrence getting away with it on this thread and on the other mormon threads shows the character of many catholics on these mormon threads.
Here’s a quarter, now go outside and play.

Gentlemen:

As I’ve mentioned on another thread, talking to a Mormon is like talking to a brick wall.
Nothing penetrates or gets through. No matter how hard you try to make an LDS under-
stand, it won’t work. It’s the “My mind is made up, don’t confuse me with facts” syndrome.
Very sad.

God Bless.

For the record, I have no problem with “Pope Benny.” :D:thumbsup:
I affectionately call him B-16. Like a bomber.
“Pope” is, after all, a term of affectionate origin. “Papa Benny” is just fine 🙂
And I love my German Shepherd. 🙂

Thanks for the info but we are already very aware of that fact. You might say we are on “Mission Impossible”

How true. How VERY true. They’ve either put in ear plugs or turned their hearing aids off.
Dialoguing with the LDS is of no use.

God Bless

Good points in this post but I am afraid that they will go unnoticed by most of the bashers and taunters. But lets have hope that your words will have some effect.

Lets see how this sounds: As I’ve mentioned on another thread, talking to a catholic on this board is like talking to a brick wall. Nothing penetrates or gets through. No matter how hard you try to make a catholic understand, it won’t work. It’s the “My mind is made up, don’t confuse me with facts” syndrome. Very sad.

Now I do think that a mormon could make this case. Right? 🙂

ThuriferAcolyte;5732037:
I believe in showing respect to the Pope and to my fellow catholics.
That’s nice of you to say that.

Too bad Joey Smith, Bring’em Young and the early LDS didn’t think that way. But they were only motivated by power, money and polygamy. Their arrogance, lack of education and lack of religious insight took them down some real dead-end roads. Their bogus approach to religion was started 1840 YEARS after Jesus had died for us. Jesus is God. Such immensely powerful stuff that Joe and his cohorts couldn’t even begin to comprehend.

The most ridiculous (and blasphemous) approach of the LDS “church” is for them to even attempt to call themselves “Christian”.

Best to read the truth on the mormon religion…here…

Don’t forget the Mormon church also refer’s to the Catholic Church as the “great and abominable church” or the “Church of the Devil.” I believe in the BoM they also refer to the Catholic Church as the “Whore of all the earth.”
Thats some pretty harsh ridicule, thats some heavy blasphamy as well. I try to respect them none the less, well as much as they deserve, but being human I can tell you I don’t pull my punches too often especially when speaking of God and his Church.

Sorry randome thoughts…waiting for the morning coffee to kick in.
