I am new to this site and have a question I hope someone can help me with. I am not Catholic but my Fiancee is and we are going through the classes for NFP. I am having a little bit of a problem with this. I fully understand and agree with the need for other options for birth control. I don’t accept other methods either. This seemed like a really good idea but… Well maybe I am just one of those wilting southern women or something but I can’t do the things it’s asking me to do. It’s way to personal. I have no problem with just charting my periods but Mucus testing and Cervical Testing are just out of my area of comfort. Isn’t there other ways of testing when you are fertile. I thought someone told me of a test that you just spit on or something. Anyone know?
I can’t really relate at all to the “Eew it’s too gross…” thing - it is your own body, after all. Not to mention the fact that sex is quite messy - you’ll have to deal with, er, clean up of your future dh’s ‘cooties’, you know. Did I mention that childbirth and babies are rather messy too? If you are grossed out by your own bodily functions, how will you handle it once you are routinely exposed to your (future) dh’s? I say suck it up (but I mean that in a nice way 😉 ) and just do it (er, touch your CM).

Cervical position can be left out of the equation without loss of accuracy, but the mucus symptom is key.

Speaking as a man here, but this is not much compared to seminal fluid, much less the things that follow later like baby burp-up and exploding diapers. Think of mastering this as the first step of turning from a wilting Southern lass into a strong Southern matron; that is the stage of life you are preparing to step off into.

That’s exactly what I was trying to say, but in a more ‘delicate’ way. 😉
