Hi. on this forum I go to there is this 1 atheist person who always shoves a person to a corner. He says all religions are evil and it would be better without them.

I was hoping that one of you would be able to save the faiths of others on this forum from being crushed.

I do not know where else to go to so I was hoping some one would be able to be able to speak to him.

Well I was just watching Fr. Corapi on youtube, and I believe the point he just made can be applied here.

Q. Why does God permit evil?

A. So that a greater good can be drawn out of it.

We cannot know God’s mind in this matter, but there is some graeter Good that is to come out of this person’s postings. Just be sure that you remember what Jesus said:
'Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof".

and don’t let the poster lead you to sin. Pray before every post.

I find that such conversations take a lot more time and effort than I have available - and usually bear little fruit, except that others “listening in” might gain some insight. As to the “agressive atheism” proponent, he is unlikely to listen to any sound arguments against his position.
Secondly - I just can’t quite take a conversation on a website called “nintendo-land” very seriously…But that’s just me.

I will offer to you a few thoughts though based on his post.
He says:
Religion fuels so much of the evil in the world. So many forms of bigotry have their roots in religion.
Homophobia, sectarian violence, suicide bombings and the list goes on.
Correction. SIN fuels these things, not religion.
As if that’s not enough, too many religious people want their views enshrined in law. They don’t just wish to have their religion, they want other people to be restricted like themselves. Religious freedom is great when it’s only their religion and no one is allowed to criticise.
In a free society - such as the United States - the morality of the people is reflected in the laws of the land. This means that people of faith have the exact same right to petition the government, introduce and/or support legislation that fits their world view and concepts of right and wrong as the atheist does.
In this, the desire to have “their views enshrined” is no different than atheists wanting their views enshrined.
The world needs aggressive atheism to get religion out of the courts and to stop people propagating bigotry that’s protected due to their beliefs. We need people to stop funding malicious organisations like the Catholic church. We need to stop religions trying to intervene in politics.
Why? Why are persons who believes in God to be excluded while those who don’t are to be included. Isn’t you desire here precisely the kind of bigotry and intolerance you are railing against the Churches for? It appears that you wish to have your views enshrined in Law so as to exclude those who do not agree with you having a voice.
I don’t know where you live but but if it is in a free democracy, you should recognize that you have the same rights and options as I do. To petition the government, to write to you rrepresentative, to support and promote your beliefs and to vote for whoever you believe will represent you the best and you have thr right to support whatever legislation you believe in.
Now - If you happen to be in a majority then you rview will hold sway. However if you are in a minority, others views will hold sway…This is the nature of democtratic rule.
This is not to say that the basic rights of others are not to be respected, but to ask people of faith to leave theri faith out of politics, or to try and legislate them out of politics is simply UnAmerican.

Just my 2 cents worth…

Your post has been edited because it included a suggestion for other forum readers/members to visit another website for the purposes of apologetic debate.

We suggest that you will be better equipped to deal with the arguments against the Catholic faith if you post here at CAF the arguments that you face elsewhere (without naming names of course) and ask for help as to how to respond.

Also you may find helpful information by searching the Ask an Apologist forum for the topic you need and by looking over the articles in the Catholic Answers Library and using the search feature there.

In an effort to illuminate and explain the Catholic faith, CA makes every effort to provide our participants with a pleasant and informative place on the internet where Catholics and non-Catholics may gather.

It is our hope that respectful dialogue and discussion will lead to better faith understandings. And so in charity, we ask that our forums not be used for encouraging mass visits to other websites. In the past these kinds of efforts, although perhaps well intentioned, leave participants at other websites with negative impressions.

Your cooperation in helping promote these aims of faith exposition, hope for fruitful discussion and charity in implementation are sincerely appreciated.

Very sincerely,

Well, as a former atheist who did that, I actually had better arguments than that. Actually, they were REALLY good on the outside. I will not share for the purpose of screwing with anybody’s faith, that is, unless you want me to. I have counter objections for them. But, according to JRKH’s post (the objections the atheist had that is), they are just silly rantings about religion. It has nothing to do with truth. We admit that the Catholic Church has sinners. Perhaps even the worst of the worst, myself included. But, history shows that the saints are by far the best people to have ever walked the planet.

They will object that they were doing it out of selfishness and they will bring up Christopher Hitchens “The Missionary Position” and attack MOTHER TERESA! I read that book a few months ago and it was horrendously subjective. Yet, at the end of the book, he has the audacity to say that he was being objective. As if making the line between fact and opinion nebulous with hateful rhetoric will prove his objectivity.

They usually give no arguments and if they do, they will give some subjective argument based on the moral law, which they themselves do not believe.

Do not worry about people like that. They cannot and refuse to actually think for themselves. Admittedly, there are many atheists who do not do things things. I talk with many. But, do not bother with people who cannot say something original. If you would like, you can Private Message me. I was one of the worst of the worst. I still am, but now on the Catholic side. 🙂

God bless!
