Last year, I lost an iPod on purpose because I had looked at some inappropriate sites and videos on it. I lost it because I was about to get a new one, and my dad wanted to have the old one. I told them I lost it on accident. I have since gone to confession and confessed purposely losing the iPod, but they don’t know yet. I found out that you have to make reparation for lies by telling the person the truth. Does this mean I have to tell my parents that I looked up the sites and videos on my iPod? The priest in confession didn’t mention having to do that.

You know, you could have just restored your iPod to the original factory settings which would wipe out any music or videos you had put on the device as well as cleared out any browser history.

To answer your lying question, there is nothing that says you have to tell the truth in order to make reparations for a lie. But it sounds like you have a really good conscience.

I was 12, give me a break

Oh, oh. OK. Well, I guess you know for next time, though. 😛

How old are you now?

Are you sure? I thought I had seen something about reparation for lies in the Catechism.
