:hmmm:

ND fan quote: If you’re underlying motive is to help Non-Roman Catholics see the truth **then start by understanding what truths they believe in first. Instead you start by creating threads with titles that are sure to start an argument **and then you try to call yourself an apologist defending the RCC. I’ve never seen a Priest act this way nor do I think that your parish Priest would approve of your conversations. Seek to understand first instead of being understood.👍 :clapping: :clapping:

I hope this clears things up. 😃

No. Protestants don’t sit around worrying about Catholic websites and controlling each other’s internet use. Protestant churches aren’t cults.

If you’re talking to me, First of all, I’m not a Priest or an apologist, I am a regular guy, defending my Catholic Faith, the best I can. I am a lay Catholic.

Second, you don’t know what a Priest would approve of, so stop. I have a regular confessor but I know all of my priests well and I talk to them the same way I post here, except not as “nice” or as “politically correct”…

I think my problem here, is that I’m not a phony and I don’t pretend to be a Saint or say things for the sake of being “liked”.

It seems, that for some here, the more “religious” they get, the more judgmental they seem to be. If that is happening to you, you are going in the wrong direction.

I am a man who has spent his entire life in a man’s world, where people are real, straight talkers, not politically correct and not thinned-skinned, so this has been a real adjustment for me but I’m trying. Yet, there are some here, who won’t cut me any slack…What’s wrong with you people?

There are dangerous, ugly, violent, obscene and offensive things in the world and it ain’t happing here at CAF.

A Catholic Priest has never told me that I had to stop being a man, or stop being me, to be a good Catholic. Soldiers and Policeman are good Catholics too but my guess is that, some of you here would be offended by their personalities as well, if you met them, but that doesn’t mean that Soldiers and Policemen don’t go to heaven. Usually the best ones, are the ones who are the “tough guys” and the “roughest around the edges”.

Some of you here, view the soul as if it were on the outside, well they say that, “beauty is only skin deep”… the soul is even deeper.

Your comments and some others here, are petty, “holier than thou”, judgmental, and condescending and are not consistent with Christian behavior.

This here (CAF), is not important in the big scheme of things. There are young men today, who will be seriously injured or killed protecting us and our freedoms and I hope, if they ever post here, that they don’t run into the same people, who have constantly attack me, because of “how they write”.

Sometimes, when I read a snotty post here that seems be from a college kid, in his twenties, I want to ask him, “Why are you here? Why aren’t you out there, while you are young and healthy, putting your own life on the line for others?..”If you where, this arguing here would seem pretty silly.”

Some here, have totally lost their perspective and have a wrong set of priorities and values …the main priority being, - themselves…me, me, me, me, me, me, me.

I see some people here who pretend that they “put themselves before others” (except Catholics) and pretend to be “Charitable" (except to Catholics), all the while claiming to be “Christian”…

I have also seen people here who have compromised their own faith, for the sake of ecumenicalism and so that they would be, “like” by people who have different beliefs…once again – “me, me, me, and me”.

Go back, and read the posts, where your anti-Catholic “friends” here, have made personal, insulting comments to me…here and on other threads and then we can talk about rude.

Why is it that Protestants never comment to, or about other Protestants here? All of you (36,000 plus denominations), have more differences with each other, than with Catholics.

This doesn’t seem like phony, hypocritical behavior to you?

Many of the Protestants here, I believe, are here for the sole purpose of pulling Catholics away from there own faith and not here to ask or answer questions, shame on you.

It is people like you, O.S. Luke and some others here, who help me know for sure that the Catholic Church is the true expression of Christianity. It has also helped me realize the there are many Catholics here, who don’t understand their own faith.

All other denominations involve hypocrisy.

Take Care.

NO NO NO. Plain and simple. If a Protestant wants to visit them then so be it. I’ve read plenty of Scott Hahn’s rubbish and simply don’t agree with him. But then there are plenty of Catechisms I think are absolutely right on the money and explain things in words that help you understand where the RCC is coming from.

Jimmy if you are so secure in your faith as an RC then why worry about Protestants? If you’re underlying motive is to help Non-Roman Catholics see the truth then start by understanding what truths they believe in first. Instead you start by creating threads with titles that are sure to start an argument and then you try to call yourself an apologist defending the RCC. I’ve never seen a Priest act this way nor do I think that your parish Priest would approve of your conversations. Seek to understand first instead of being understood.
Why would Protestants not want people to visit these sites?

I wish you would stop pretending that you understand how Protestants think.

 Oh my, I don’t agree with any of this and find the tone very odd.

If you’re talking to me, First of all, I’m not a Priest or an apologist, I am a regular guy, defending my Catholic Faith, the best I can. I am a lay Catholic.
So am I. A cradle Catholic, still on the journey and loving it.
Second, you don’t know what a Priest would approve of, so stop. I have a regular confessor but I know all of my priests well and I talk to them the same way I post here, except not as “nice” or as “politically correct”…
Has nothing to do with politcally correct. I am not a liberal, I am not a conservative.
I think my problem here, is that I’m not a phony and I don’t pretend to be a Saint or say things for the sake of being “liked”.
You’re not the hill I want to die on.
It seems, that for some here, the more “religious” they get, the more judgmental they seem to be. yes…I can believe that.If that is happening to you, you are going in the wrong direction.

I am a man who has spent his entire life in a man’s world, where people are real, straight talkers, not politically correct and not thinned-skinned, so this has been a real adjustment for me but I’m trying. Yet, there are some here, who won’t cut me any slack…What’s wrong with you people? Step out of the Ted Nugent box a minute and look at the good in the world. Evil is vain, it likes attention.😃

There are dangerous, ugly, violent, obscene and offensive things in the world and it ain’t happing here at CAF. I agree. CAF is a place to learn, to share, to pray and to teach as Jesus did.

Usually the best ones, are the ones who are the “tough guys” and the “roughest around the edges”.Re: soldiers…I work with Marines everyday. I have a high respect for those who serve our country. My sisterinlaw’s dad was a police officer and was murdered last yr. I do know, Jimmy, I do know.

Some of you here, view the soul as if it were on the outside, well they say that, “beauty is only skin deep”… the soul is even deeper. I am well aware the soul is within. Change, good or bad, comes from within.

Your comments and some others here, are petty, “holier than thou”, judgmental, and condescending and are not consistent with Christian behavior.
Petty, is not a word I would use. More like “curious” as to how your approach will bring productive dialogue between possible converts and/or reverts. And how the entire “Christian” community can benefit.

This here (CAF), is not important in the big scheme of things. There are young men today, who will be seriously injured or killed protecting us and our freedoms and I hope, if they ever post here, that they don’t run into the same people, who have constantly attack me, because of “how they write”. It’s not “how”. You write well, it’s the “tone”.

Sometimes, when I read a snotty post here that seems be from a college kid, in his twenties, I want to ask him, “Why are you here? Why aren’t you out there, while you are young and healthy, putting your own life on the line for others?..Where were you in 1973? 1983? Listening to Zeppelin and having a smoke? Listening to VanHalen?”If you where, this arguing here would seem pretty silly.”I turned 50 this year, I am no kid.

Do your threads “inspire” and beckon others to come in and discuss, or do they threaten and chastise?
I have also seen people here who have compromised their own faith, for the sake of ecumenicalism and so that they would be, “like” by people who have different beliefs…once again – “me, me, me, and me”.
My faith is not compromised. I was blessed with a Catholic upbringing by a Baptist mother. I have seen many good things outside the fishbowl some live in.
Go back, and read the posts, where your anti-Catholic “friends” here, have made personal, insulting comments to me…here and on other threads and then we can talk about rude.
I don’t have any anti-catholic friends, why would I subject myself to the negative?
Why is it that Protestants never comment to, or about other Protestants here? All of you (36,000 plus denominations), have more differences with each other, than with Catholics.
Apparently you have never heard a Baptist and a Pentacostal go after each other. Not good.
This doesn’t seem like phony, hypocritical behavior to you?

Many of the Protestants here, I believe, are here for the sole purpose of pulling Catholics away from there own faith and not here to ask or answer questions, shame on you. If your faith is on shaky ground, it is possible. But beating folks over the head with doctrine, dogma and rules doesn’t work either. The “spirit of the law” works wonders.

It is people like you, O.S. Luke and some others here, who help me know for sure that the Catholic Church is the true expression of Christianity. It has also helped me realize the there are many Catholics here, who don’t understand their own faith.Shouting won’t make easier to understand.
Your understanding and mine are very different…we agree to disagree.
All other denominations involve hypocrisy.
That is your opinion, and as a free thinking American you are entitled to it.
Take Care.
I would like to think at this point, that my anamosity towards you has waned, just by your statements from this post. I am a straight talker too. 😃 So where do we go from here?🤷

Visiting websites of other faiths is actually encouraged in the Protestant Community. There is a course offered in my commuinty called “Perspectives” which studies different religions and cultures. It is actually offered for college credit and is presented over a semester usually at a Protestant church in the area. Protestants feel it is important to understand what other people believe in order to relate to one another better. It builds the community of faith as well as trust. I know my Catholic friends feel much more accepted by me because I understand their faith. In turn they trust me more as well as accept me because they see the love of Christ exhibited in my life instead of intolerance. Actions speak much louder than words.

You just crack me up Jimmy…

First you make the assertion that no protestant (not any - which is why you left out the ‘some’ in your title question) wants anyone to visit the sites you listed.

Then, when told numerous times by many protestants, that we really don’t mind people going to those sites - I do not see one post that concedes that maybe you made an assertion that was unfounded and unnecessary.

Can anyone say, blind? 😦

In fact instead of addressing the many replies indicating that we don’t mind people visiting the sites you focus on how they disagree with you and blame that on them being protestant. Hmmm… Protestants tell you that they don’t mind and yet you have yet to admit you could be wrong. Correct me and show me your apology for the blanket unfounded assertion please. If you have said it and I missed it I would like to know… 😊

As for your ‘question’, as a protestant I have NEVER heard or seen anyone one discouraging someone else from researching their faith and looking to be closer to God. If that comes from the Catholic Church then so be it. So clicking on those links would not be an issue for ANY protestant I know.

But you are going to overlook that last paragraph and just say I am attacking you and going off topic, aren’t you…

"Where were you in 1973? 1983? Listening to Zeppelin and having a smoke? Are you trying to be funny here?

“Where were you in 1973? 1983?” Listening to Zeppelin and having a smoke?

In 1973, If you are telling the truth; turning fifty this year, then you were about 15 years old and in high school; and according to your information here, a high school girl, so what is your point?

”…”I turned 50 this year, I am no kid.

Maybe, maybe not… I don’t know you, but I know there are plently of 50 year olds today, who because, they were or are “pot-heads”, still act like stupid kids.

I am retired…in 1983, my daughter was born.

What does this have to do with this thread?

Why must, so many here, post off-topic-personal-attacks?

Asking me, something stupid and insulting like this -

“Where were you in 1973? 1983?” Listening to Zeppelin and having a smoke?

Come-on…Give me a break and please do not address me personally here. Please stop it, with the personal insults and personal attacks

If you disagree with this thread, explain why and if you have a link that you want to post here then post it.

…Life’s too short.

Peace 🙂

OK, and on the topic (sort of) of links.

Would someone please post a link that all protestants, noncat… -oh heck, all Christians - will want to visit that will tell us exactly how many protestant demoninations there are. I’ve seen 30,000,
36,000, 40,000, 33,000 and other similar numbers. If we can find a definitive number, that would be great.

And yes, this is an attempt at humor. Just trying to lighten things up a little, so everyone can take a breath and remember we are all Baptized into Christ.

His grace and blessings to all of you,
Jon

All it is …it’s a thread title…that’s it…GIVE IT A REST ALREADY…

This is just another, non-responsive, off-topic, personal attack…Why must you and others here make me - “Jimmy B”, the topic? I am not the topic here!

Is this because you and others here, are unwilling or unable to defend you own denomination or religious beliefs…it must be, because I am not a denomination…

My beliefs can be found in the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church. So why don’t you “go after” Catholic doctrine and beliefs that you disagree with?

I get to pick my own thread titles (within the rules) and you can choose to respond or not. You can start your own threads too. 😃

If you have something substantive to say, then say it but do not attack me personally.

Please try to stay on-topic…I AM NOT THE TOPIC!

Stop with the personal attacks already…If you do not like my thread title, then start your own thread.

Thank you

Me too, I have read all of his books. I think that he is an excellent Catholic Apologist and I don’t know why he is not mentioned here more often. One thing I like about him, is that, in his books, he provides a detailed biblical exegesis supporting Catholicism, where he sites Bible verses and puts them in context, using other verses.

Peace 🙂

Moonbat LOL
Christianity is neither “liberal” nor “conservative”, it is the Truth. Although, there are political platforms which support issues, which go against God’s laws and Catholic teachings.

I am “conservative” for that reason and because I support the military… but I am Catholic first.

I read Catholic authors, who are very conservative and orthodox, as well as “liberal” Catholic writers, like Joan Chittister, for example, a person some would consider too liberal.

Excellent information can be gleaned from all of their books, if you are willing to look for those “nuggets” of information and are not “swept away” by one agenda or another.

Peace

Well, lets look at this - shall we…

Thread title: Here are some links that Protestants don’t want you to visit…Am I right?

Within your own title you have stated a question in which MANY non-catholics have responded as NO. If you didn’t want them to respond then why ask the question or post the post anyways? 🤷

I have nothing against your thread title, you asked the question and we answered. You made an assertion in your thread that was not correct and when others (including myself) tried to correct that assertion you claim martyr and scream for people to stay on topic and leave you alone. My point being, stop making assertions that you have no way in proving and apologize when the assertions you do make are proved wrong.

But as I predicted you totally didn’t address my answer, just whined about how you were being corrected about the misconception YOU made clear in your thread title.

You are wrong in what you stated in your thread title but won’t admit it. Way to stick to your guns… Even if they are pointed in the wrong direction.

It would appear the real reason for this thread is not to get at the truth, but to bait non-Catholics and then make fun of them for responding.

Am I right!

At one point the OP asserted that others were not able to defend their faiths…even though other faiths are NOT the topic…at the same time complaining that people were not staying on topic.

Yesterday, while listening to EWTN in the afternoon, Scott Hahn came on with a short bit which referred to Paul’s instructions about sharing the faith with others. He seemed to be addressing the sort of “tactics” used in this thread.

He reminded the listener that the point is to share truth, not to make the “opponent” look stupid, or to score a personal win.

I’ve already been told, on these forums the REAL reason why I am not a Catholic, by someone who, oddly enough, does not know me personally, or anything about me. Apparently, its because I can’t handle the truth.

I thought God was powerful enough to supply me with the grace to do so, but I’ve been told otherwise by people who claim to know Him better than me.

This thread has been very enlightening and will save me lots of time in the future.

Some people create an identity around the assumption that everyone hates and fears Catholicism, and they protect it by acting in a way that will encourage others to respond in unpleasant ways, thus reinforcing their assumption and identity.

But sometimes the “others” wont fall into line, and then the smoke screens start to go up.

Smilies, lol’s, and ignoring valid responses and questions don’t hide agenda’s or lack of depth in a discussion, but they do speak volumes, in their own way.
