From the article:

“What has the government got against the Catholic Church? Has it forgotten the contributions the church has made to the poor and needy for centuries?”
Yes, it has. Like the revolutionaries of the French Revolution, it would like to trample the Church entirely.

Has it forgotten? Or just think it inappropriate or inadequate? In my experience (in real life, and here on CAF), many people seem to think that the private sector isn’t doing enough, so the government must take over where the private sector has failed.

For my part, I think those in government do remember. They just think it inadequate or doesn’t count.

Unfortunately, I don’t think this comparison will convince anyone. I think those who are for the mandate see “religious organizations” as businesses and therefore can not be compared with the Amish people (ie. Amish individuals). If we were to compare apples to apples it would have to be a mandate against Catholic indiviuals (and yes, I know that owners of these businesses are Catholic indivuduals but I’m trying to point out how others see this issue).

The silver lining here is that Medi-Share is still exempt from the mandate, at least for now. It works as a co-op and is just as good as BC/BS was a while back. It gets away from all those corporate ties with politicians. Any Christian is eligible for the program.
