Within the context of the OP question, and Belloc/Chesterton’s position on Jews in English society, it was not that all Jews became successful plutocrats, but that all Jews were a tribe, and their loyalty was not to the nation, first, if at all, Of which tribe, a great number became successful plutocrats, or achieved wealth, power and position, esp. through international finance (say, Rothchilds). Or became successful through insider information, passed primarily along the tribal lines (say, the Marconi scandal).
