I am not at all nostalgic for such a time. “The kingdom of God is within you.” (Lk, 17, 21). And for so long as I continue to allow the Davidic messiah, Jesus, to rule my heart, I know peace in spite of any storm outside.
**Congratulations! You have hit the target of what Jesus meant by the Kingdom of God he used to talk about: Inner peace. But Jesus is gone, my friend, and the Davidic Messiah is what God promised David, which would remain in Jerusalem forever: The House of Jacob, known by the name of Israel, from the stock of Judah. (Isa. 48:1) **

Gee, b. Masada, you failed to respond to the points in the previous post. Why is that? And, as has been explained to you previously, Jesus is not at all gone. I’m sure that many of your lantzmen wish He would just go away, but that can’t happen. He IS.

Only God IS. You are implying Greek Mythology where a man can be god or demigod.

Of course you neglect the substance of the post and refuse to respond to the points made. As for the last line, I used it very specifically. Read Jn:8,58. He is God’s eternal knowledge of Himself, the Word of God made flesh, the God whose delights, according to your scriptures is to be among men.

The Word of God was made flesh in the People of Israel. Read Psalm 147:19,20.

“He issues His commands to Jacob
His statutes and rules to Israel.
He did not do so for any other nation.
Of such rules they know nothing. Hallelujah!”

That we do know of these statutes and rules and how they are fulfilled in the New Covenant only indicates that we are the new Israel.

Thanks again for ignoring the points I have made with a pointless rejoinder. Does the phrase intellectual fraud mean anything? I will have no more to do with you.

Your indication that Christians are the new Israel, only translates Replacement Theology, which has been classified as a type of Antisemitism.

ryanoneil;5314184:
I don’t think you are being accurate in your understanding of Galatians 4. In that Pauline allegory, Paul compares the Sinaitic Covenant made with Israel to Hagar, the slave woman; and the Christian “New Covenant” to Sarah, who is free Jerusalem. Then, at the end, He urges to throw away the slave woman with her son. He means, the Sinaitic Covenant with Israel because of the establishment of a new order. That’s in two words, Replacement Theology.
I don’t think so. You’ve said on a number of occasions about gentiles following the Noahide Law. Paul is telling the formerly pagan Galatians that they are not required to observe the liturgical calendar of Israel and the ritual ordinances of the Mosaic Law (which the Judaizers demanded). All that is required of them is observance of the Moral Law (ten commandments).

**The heir of David is not an individual but according to God’s promise to David, he is Judah, the People, which would remain forever in Jerusalem. Judah, according to I Kings 11:36. **

That is talking about Solomon who is an individual. Of course the people are included but it doesn’t only apply to the Jewish people as a whole.

**Too hypothetical. Especially because that would happened only if Israel ceased as a People before the Lord forever. (Jer. 31:35-37) **

That is another way of saying the New Covenant will last forever.

**You are still being hypothetical. The Gentiles have been included since God decided to spare Israel for the sake of David. (I Kings 11:36) **
And God’s covenant with David is made to renew and fulfill the promise to Abraham. And Abraham is called to be “the father of a host of nations” not just one nation (Genesis 17:4; 22:17-18). God’s purpose is to bless the human race, transforming into a single family of God, to make each individual what Adam was intended to be - a son of God the Most High, heir to the kingdom of heaven, a ruler of creation, a “priest” who sees his or her life as a work of worship and thanksgiving, a sacrifice of praise.

Ben Masada – it seems that you are more interested in attacking Christianity than searching for an answer to a legitimate question.
correct.
He makes it abundantly clear in thread after thread, after thread, that he does not think Jesus was the messiah. Near as I can tell, perhaps he doesn’t even give Jesus credit for being a nice guy.
So what is the question ? There is no question here.

**"…he does not think!" I am sure Jesus was not the Messiah. For 33 years of his life he was part of Messiah. That’s all. The Messiah, according to Isaiah the Prophet, is collective in Israel, the People. If you believe that the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53 is the Messiah, all you have to do is to see how Isaiah identifies that Servant with Israel by name, so that you don’t have to assume that he was Jesus. Read Isaiah 41:8,9; 44:1,2,21; 45:4.

I give Jesus much more credit than you do by acknowledging him for what he really was and not for what you claim he was not. What you guys tell about Jesus is character assassination. So much so that it has become hard to distinguish if Jesus was Jewish or Greek. **

The problem you face is Christ’s quote about Himself, “Before Abraham was, I am”.

In brief , we are liars?

I have enough of what it takes to know that you can answer that without 15 pages of scripture.

The problem you face is Christ’s quote about Himself, “Before Abraham was, I am”.
Jesus could have never said that for two reasons: The first is because he was Jewish, and that’s not Jewish to say that. And second, because he was not crazy. A Jew has first to turn crazy to say that and mean it. And when you claim that for him, you are introducing Greek Mythology into Judaism and distorting the image of Jesus’ Faith before the world.

You are then faced with CS Lewis’ paradox - “Either Christ was a lunatic, on a level with the man who thinks he is a poached egg (“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, I sent you the wise men and the prophets”, “You will see the Son of Man coming in great power and glory on the clouds of heaven”, “I will rebuild this temple (his body) in three days”, “Before Abraham was, I am”), or a magician or something worse (demon) or else He was who He claimed to be, the Son of God. *(I’m trying to recall the quote off the top of my head, so it’s probably not fully correct.) *You can either mock him as a mad-man, spit at him as a demon, or fall at his feet and worship Him as the Son of God. But let us not come with any condescending nonsense about HIs being a great teacher. He did not leave that option open to us - He did not intend to.”

You have forgotten a third option: He simply was not Jewish, that’s all. Perhaps he was a Greek man who, peradventure was in Israel where he spent almost four years and got involved with subversive action and the Romans crucified him.

If you’re going to play fast and loose with the Scriptures, you may as well go and write your own Bible. And why stop with the New Testament? Go the whole hog and write your own Old Testament as well, and change the details to suit yourself.
