A chap from the other night asked the question if the Holocaust actually happened. For the most part it sounded like he was responded to negatively. I think what he was asking about more specifically was the topic of Holocaust denial or revision.
I missed the topic and can’t find it so I thought I’d continue from last night.
This is something I stumbled upon only recently and find the topic very interesting. Holocaust deniers don’t dispute the fact that concentration/labor camps existed throughout Europe, but where they don’t agree is whether Jews and others were systemically exterminated in gas chambers then crematoriums. While researching this topic I came across this mini documentary that looks at the hard facts of what today is known as the Holocaust. The producer raises some very interesting facts i.e there were no traces of zyclon B gas found at the supposed gas chambers, as opposed to the high concentrations in the delousing chambers (where they cleaned close from lice):

In addition to my research I came across “The Last Days of the Big Lie” - this exposes Steven Spielberg’s movie claiming the survivors stories were far fetched if not out right lies, like the one soldier who claimed to have liberated one of the camps, only to later have been discovered that official documents said he was nowhere near the camps at the time of liberation. If that sounds crazy you should here the ladies stories.

And for kicks here is Herman Rosenblat another apparent survivor of the Holocaust who claimed a mystery girl would throw him food over the fence to keep him alive at a camp, only to later have coincidentally run into her in NY City and got married. Hollywood was to make a movie out of this remarkable love story that even put Oprah to tears. Only problem is it was fabricated and only in Herman’s imagination, which was brought to light after someone stepped up and claimed there is no way anyone could have got near the camp fence to throw apples over. Seems like anything for money, as Herman’s son tells:

Anyway, I don’t know what to make of all this 🤷
Whose right whose wrong

It’s an awkward topic that most seem to think it’s crazy, like me until I saw the videos and did some of my own research as opposed to taking everything per verbatim as history and books dictate. Any (name removed by moderator)ut?

The thread was deleted - or at least it is no longer in my subscribed folders since I posted in it.

I’ve seen archival footage from WWII.
I wish I hadn’t.
I can’t imagine Hell being any worse.

I haven’t watched the links yet, but I guess there are always some things you have to keep in mind. Some people always will make up stuff, just so they can be in the spotlight for a time. But if some of these specific stories are untrue, that doesn’t mean that these kind of things things didn’t happen, in general. Some people just want credit for things they didn’t do or places they where they were not.

There has been a lot of revisionist history concerning the Holocaust. The Shoah Foundation has documented the experiences of thousands of survivors from the extermination camps who bear witness to the atrocities they endured.

The Holocaust is the most documented crime in the history of mankind. I find no evidence that it did not occur or was not as “serious” as reported to be absolutely unconvincing and pretty horrendous, frankly. Rather than watching conspiracy theory videos of less than stellar sources, maybe reading the actual documentation the Nazi’s kept of the records of Jews they killed and/or listening to survivor stories would be a better way to learn the truth of this horrific time period.

Nazis may have killed up to 20m, claims ‘shocking’ new Holocaust study
telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/germany/9906771/Nazis-may-have-killed-up-to-20m-claims-shocking-new-Holocaust-study.html
The millions disappeared into a Nazi imprisonment and killing machine that covered a bloody swathe of Europe and appears to have been far more deadly than has been thought.
Up until now, the Holocaust is thought to have consumed between five and six million Jews, with an estimated further six million other people also murdered by the Nazi regime.
The new figures of 15 to 20 million, which have astonished some Holocaust historians, come after thirteen years of painstaking study at Washington’s Holocaust Memorial Museum. Historians at the museum brought together and studied the huge amount, and often disparate, files and research on the Holocaust.
“The results of our research are shocking,” Geoffrey Megargee, the director of the study, told The Independent newspaper. “We are putting together numbers that no one ever compiled before, even for camp systems that have been fairly well researched - and many of them have not been.”

I have realised that I need to keep copies of my posts here at CAF too.
I always did that at atheist forums (fora) but I forgot that the same thing might happen here too.

I posted a (brilliant) rebuttal about Zyclon B and Rudolph Hoess in the deleted/hidden thread. 😃

Pope says Holocaust denial is 'intolerable … unacceptable’

VATICAN CITY (CNS) – Denying or minimizing the Holocaust “is intolerable and altogether unacceptable,” Pope Benedict XVI told a group of U.S. Jewish leaders.

“This terrible chapter in our history must never be forgotten,” the pope said during a Feb. 12 meeting at the Vatican with members of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

The papal audience came less than three weeks after the Vatican announced the pope had lifted the excommunication of several traditionalist bishops, including Bishop Richard Williamson, who has said reports about the Nazi slaughter of the Jews have been exaggerated and who claimed no Jews died in Nazi gas chambers.

The Vatican later published a statement saying that Bishop Williamson would not be welcomed into full communion with the church unless he disavowed his remarks and publicly apologized.

Telling the Jewish leaders he wanted to make his own a prayer by Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict prayed,*

*“God of our fathers, you chose Abraham and his descendants to bring your name to the nations: We are deeply saddened by the behavior of those who in the course of history have caused these children of yours to suffer and, asking your forgiveness, we wish to commit ourselves to genuine brotherhood with the people of the Covenant.”

The prayer was the text of the note Pope John Paul left in Jerusalem’s Western Wall, one of Judaism’s holiest sites, during a March 2000 visit.

Pope Benedict also told the Jewish leaders about his own visit to the Nazis’ Auschwitz death camp in 2006.

“As I walked through the entrance to that place of horror, the scene of such untold suffering, I meditated on the countless number of prisoners, so many of them Jews, who had trodden that same path into captivity at Auschwitz and in all the other prison camps,” the pope said.

“How can we begin to grasp the enormity of what took place in those infamous prisons?” he asked.

The pope told the leaders, "The hatred and contempt for men, women and children that was manifested in the Shoah was a crime against God and against humanity.

“This should be clear to everyone,” the pope said.

"It is beyond question that any denial or minimization of this terrible crime is intolerable and altogether unacceptable," Pope Benedict said.

The German-born pope repeated what he had said during his visit to Auschwitz: “The rulers of the Third Reich wanted to crush the entire Jewish people, to cancel it from the register of the peoples of the earth. Thus the words of the psalm, ‘We are being killed, accounted as sheep for the slaughter,’ were fulfilled in a terrifying way.”

***The pope also told the Jewish leaders that the Catholic Church “is profoundly and irrevocably committed to reject all anti-Semitism” ***and to build good and lasting relations with the Jewish community.

Reaffirming the importance of remembering the Holocaust, the pope said, “it is my fervent prayer that the memory of this appalling crime will strengthen our determination to heal the wounds that for too long have sullied relations between Christians and Jews.”

Rabbi Arthur Schneier of New York’s Park East Synagogue, which Pope Benedict visited last April, told the group it was “a trying moment in Catholic-Jewish relations” because Bishop Williamson’s excommunication was lifted.

The 78-year-old Austrian-born rabbi told the pope, “As a Holocaust survivor these have been painful and difficult days when confronted with Holocaust denial by no less than a bishop.”

“The Shoah claimed the lives of 6 million Jewish men, women and children, including my own family in Auschwitz and Terezin,” a camp in what is now the Czech Republic, he told the pope.

Addressing the 81-year-old pope, he said, “Your Holiness, we and so many others, who have seen man’s inhumanity to man, how can we but revolt at Holocaust denial?”

“In our autumn years,” he told the pope, “we must transmit ‘never again’ through Holocaust education to future generations.”

After posting this thread, and the youtube links, and discussing your research, I can only hope that you and your family will sit down and watch them all in their entirety. You certainly deserve to know the truth.

A good book on the history of the holocaust is;

“Nazi Terror The Gestapo, Jews, And Ordinary Germans,” by Eric Johnson.

The author went to Germany to study how the holocaust could have happened, and how
much were the ordinary German people responsible. He planed a 2 year stay in Germany to study the issue, and ended up staying 10 years.

One of the things he noted in his research was that the Germans were very good at documenting the events of the holocaust, including the arrests of Jews, the ordinary people who turned them in, their deportation to concentration camps and the systematic slaughter of those interned there.

There is no doubt about the reality of the holocaust and it’s the incriminating documentation the Nazi’s themselves kept, which was their own indictment.

Easy I’m not trying to pick a fight with anyone, just stating what I found interesting. I’ll read your stuff when I have a chance as you should watch mine. But isn’t this just the point I’m making, there are so many sources out there how do you know who is right and wrong. I’m aware that the Holocaust is so entrenched into everyone since it was taught in school and there are so many books on the shelf about it, and movies of course, that anyone who steps outside popular belief is run over, like when people who believed the earth was round not flat. All I’m saying is the topic is interesting and gets you thinking and searching for truth.

I’ve seen that drivel, and a ton like it. Written by small minded self aggrandizing men with no real intellect and an ax to grind.

If they are so good at documenting then how come it was believed 4 million Jews died in Auschwitz alone, later that number was revised down to half, and later again revised to under a million. And this is from the Holocaust museum. And there are many more beliefs that later became untrue - like there were gas chambers in Dakeau (or however you spell it) only to be later rebuttal-ed as there were never any there at all.

In the course of my research I was warned numerous times about survivor “testimonies”
Herman Rosenblat is just one example. And listen to the second video I posted.
These are all actually “survivors” who were caught in the act of flat out lying.
What is a man to think after that?

One day I would love to see it. However lets not forget the argument is about whether there were chambers using zyclon b to mass murder Jews and others. I’ve seen the gripping images of skeleton like people who were obviously starved, but this does not prove gas chambers.
