Vatican City, Feb 10, 2010 / 11:05 am (CNA).- After today’s general audience, the Holy Father met with a delegation from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) in which he expressed hope for the “continuing Lutheran-Catholic dialogue.”
The Lutheran delegation was led by the ELCA’s Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson, who is also President of the Lutheran World Foundation, the global Lutheran partner to the Catholic Church since the Second Vatican Council.
The Holy Father addressed the delegation in English, saying that he hoped “the continuing Lutheran-Catholic dialogue both in the United States of America and at the international level will help to build upon the agreements reached so far.”
I pray for the reunification of our seperated brothers in Christ. As the Chasm between this world and Christs Church becomes wider and the persecution of all of Christendom becomes greater. More of our seperated brothers and sister will secure themselves to the barque of Peter.
An important thing to note here is that these are not Luther’s Lutherans. Whereas Catholics and Protestants, despite theological division, usually have seen eye-to-eye on most social issues, the ECLA (the largest protestant denomination in the U.S.A) recently slipped into Liberalism in regards to pre-marital sex, homosexual acts, homosexual unions/marriage, homosexual pastors and pastresses, female pastresses, etc.
Yes James, I’m sure you are correct. I am also hoping that there are many followers of this denom that are against all those things you mentioned and can see that their church has indeed chosen to follow the wrong path to perdition. Just like the TAC, and maybe because of the new constitution for the TAC that these seperated brothers and sisters will begin to see The Barque of Peter Anchored between imovable pillars while the secular world rages against it. I pray that more and more of these seperated brothers, Just like the TAC continue to anchor themselves to “THE CHURCH”.
