Until then, I do not believe you.
Can you hear that?

Shhhhh?

Listen???

Can you hear???

That sound is the sound of just how bothered I am whether you believe me or not

There is no scale in existence that could measure how little I care.

You are a total stranger to me, who, within their first few posts on joining this forum, fixated on my posts :hmmm:

You know nothing of what my life has been like, how I got to where I am, and what I’ve been through.

But hey, you’re doing a great PR job on the qualities of character expected from Roman Catholicism. Keep up the good work
you shouldn’t be blaming God for it either.
I don’t blame God for anything.

I never have.

Ever.

Why would I :hypno::hypno::hypno:

That wasn’t a literal remark or challenge for you to prove it personally to me, just more of a rhetorical comment.

And how is me posing a question to you and stating my disbelief in your claims not consistent with being a good Roman Catholic?

Is anyone who you don’t agree with who calls you out on your claims and makes you uncomfortable automatically labelled as a person of bad character to you? Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

I guess the next time I’m backed into a corner I’ll resort to sarcastic remarks and childish behavior, perhaps then the person engaging me in the conversation won’t notice and may still think of me as a competent, credible individual too 😊 And here you are claiming that the Catholic Church makes claims and doesn’t back them up LOL.

Sure you did. Go back to the part where you didn’t understand why if God was so loving, he’d allow evil into the world.

My Brother,

I am going to ask you to sit down, put your feet up, read your first post and take a deep breath. I ask you to read all the rest of your posts…sit and think a little bit…and then after you have done that…ask yourself the following question…How am I doing here on the CAF…then I ask you to do me a favor and ignore Athiest Girl for a while. You know I asked her a question awhile back…about Adam and Eve and how bad I thought the situation was…she still hasn’t answered me…I suppose she has lots on her mind…

Anyway see how it goes after you take a breath…I will wait for Sarah to answer my posting on how bad I thought Adam and Eve did the thing they did and see how she handles my posting…OK:)

In order for faith to be sincere, it must be tested. God wants to test us and our faith, but obviously he also wants us to prosper and ultimately choose to be with him, through thick and thin.
Yes. As Blaise Pascal said (paraphrasing): God gives us just enough light so that those who seek him will find him, but not so much light that those who don’t really want to find him don’t have to.

perhaps then the person engaging me in the conversation won’t notice and may still think of me as a competent, credible individual too 😊
I doubt it, until you mature enough to engage adults in adult conversation, and not make personal remarks and unfounded accusations, rhetorical or otherwise, to a complete stranger you’ve never spoken to before.

Try having a little bit of manners and lose the snippiness and see how that works out for ya.

LOL

I quoted what the Church itself says. No more.

LOL

LOL

For the purpose of engaging in conversation with believers of all sorts, I agree at times to agree their Deity exists. This enables an interesting conversation to develop and to allow me to highlight the problems I would have, were I to believe such a Deity exists and allows us together to explore issues.

I have stated in numerous places here, I do not see enough evidence to believe a Deity of any kind exists, and by extension, I do not blame any Deity of any kind for any so called evil in the world today.

LOL

Sarah! I did not know you were pro-life! :hug1:
I don’t know how you didn’t know, as I’ve stated my position on abortion many times on this forum, including:

There are other’s I’m sure but that will do for now.

I’m surprized you missed so many references to my prolife status.

kind of stinks of it is your fault God…and how many of us don’t own up to our own responsibility and blame God…on the other hand for you you not believing in God as I understand it would not do it…however this is how I see it
Right, in real life, I don’t blame God for anything, as I do not see enough evidence to believe there is any such Diety.
.by his own admission he took implying the will to act and then he goes and blames poor eve…
It’s been ever thus. 🤷

I wasn’t in dialogue or lurking on any of those threads you cited (I only checked the first 3 you cited, but, at any rate, I’m quite certain that I would have noted that you were pro-life if you had mentioned it in any thread that we were conversing in.)

Anyway, love you for that! I knew you were good people.

Now, for your explanation for evil—natural evil, not moral evil.

Excuse me?

Now for my explanation?

I’ve made several references to my understanding of the basis for natural evil in various posts.

You claimed to have a phenominal memory.

forums.catholic-questions.org/showpost.php?p=9392095&postcount=255

and a ‘‘special ability’’ to remember what you read

forums.catholic-questions.org/showpost.php?p=9393936&postcount=270

I’ve already refered to my understanding of this in this thread.

So either you don’t have such a phenominal memory or you don’t read my posts, in which case, I see no point in answering you.

Either way, this has nothing to do with the OP and is way off topic.

Sheesh. Again with the hostility.

I retract my word “now.” Could you please offer (or re-state) your explanation?

I have indeed a phenomenal memory (and a gift for spelling the word correctly, too).

I have missed your posts which explain how you understand the existence of natural evil.

If you could direct me to that, please.

Also, if it offends you that I made a reference to your misspelling, I retract that, too.

You should practice what you preach in regards to manners. You come off as sarcastic and condescending right from the get-go with no reason, other than me getting the general vibe that you are insecure and are not confident in your own belief system or lack thereof.

Without knowing a person, or engaging them in conversation, I don’t call them a liar with my first exchange with them. That is the height of bad manners, not to mention judgemental.
You come off as sarcastic and condescending right from the get-go with no reason,
No, you gave me good reason
other than me getting the general vibe that you are insecure and are not confident in your own belief system or lack thereof.
How Judgemental and presumptious of you again.

And so totally wrong.

And with that - I no longer see you posts 😃

Sorry, but I’m not buying this and I think you know better too, but I applaud you trying. I wasn’t calling you a liar, I said I don’t believe you. Huge difference.
How Judgemental and presumptious of you again.

And again, that is not me being judgemental but rather me expressing my opinion on how I perceive you to be, based on your posts.

In any case, I suppose that will save us both the trouble. And with these responses of you running away from these questions and topics, shows the type of character that we are dealing with here. One who runs and purposely chooses to live in ignorance.

Good day.

Sarah! I retract my reference to the you-know-what error.

I apologize profusely!

Seriously.

I did not mean to offend.

Sometimes you take things in the bonhomie and good natured ribbing that often accompanies posts.

This offended you today. On another day it might not have? Am I correct?

Friends? :flowers:

Good day.
I will stand up and say on this public forum and attest to the good character of Sarah!

She is a good egg.

I would much rather have her “have my back” than some of the Christians on this forum (present company excepted, simply for the fact that I don’t know you at all :))

As far as living in ignorance, I doubt that she does. While I disagree vehemently on her position that there is no god, I wouldn’t say she hasn’t examined the issue.

I wasn’t referring to you though. I was referring to atheistgirl, who said she will continue not to accept God and assumed she would be saved just because she does good deeds. I was simply informing her that it does not work that way. Where is all this judgement talk? How about getting all the facts down first before judging me? 😛
Apologies. I try to keep my comments most often in a general vein without referring to specific members - I TRY! …and can fail. Apologies once more.:o

Sarah! I retract my reference to the you-know-what error.
Forget it.
I did not mean to offend.
You didn’t offend.

You annoyed.

I have a manger who does this. He has no original ideas, his strategic thinking leaves a lot to be desired; in the middle of a lively and productive meeting, where he’s contributed little to nothing, he’ll suddenly interrupt and pull someone up on their grammar  🤷

Sure, grammar is important, but there’s a time and place, and when your contribution to a discussion on launching a new line has been exactly zero, that’s not the time or place to start teaching people how to speak English!

I was pulled up here for writing Catholic as catholic. I accepted the correction no problem, and even thanked the poster, as I can see how not using a C could be seen as offensive to some people here, on a Catholic forum.

It was an important point and I accepted it as such.

I’m pretty sure I make spelling mistakes in just about every post I make. Like ‘phenomenal’, it’s not important (to me) as the point being made gets across and is understood, which *is *important - unless you’re obsessed with poor grammar and misspelling, in which case a public forum is possibly not the best place to hang out!

I don’t have the same approach off forums, and I accept to some that attitude would not be acceptable. But when I’m on the forums I enjoy, I don’t fuss over spelling or check as I type. It’s not an issue for me. The point being made is what’s important, and should be the focus, not a misspelt word.
Sometimes you take things in the bonhomie and good natured ribbing that often accompanies posts.
I do indeed. And I accept also my sense of humor has been misunderstood by others too.

I said before and I happily admit when I’m tired, I get grumpy. I’m not tired.
On another day it might not have? Am I correct?
No it annoys me every time, and if you look back at other posts where people have focused on spelling to make a point, (and it comes across as a cheap point to make to me) I’ve responded in kind. See here for example.
Friends? :flowers:
Get out of here
