I actually have some before and after pictures of the altar I have at my parent’s house (where I say Mass on my days off)… This one was taken before September 14, 2007. Tomorrow, I’ll try to upload pictures of the post-September 14, 2007 altar. (I’m sure you can all guess at what the difference is…)

My dad built the altar (mensa), and I have an altar stone in the center.

God bless,

Fr. Boyd
I looked at the pictures before reading your actual post or your member name and my immediate thought was along the lines of “Wow, looks like his Shrine is setup just incase a Priest needs to say Mass” 😃

It’s very beautiful Father. It has that simplistic touch yet is still quite a sight.

Just in the interest of accuracy, I would point out that the SSPX is a priestly society and therefore does not include the laity. There are not “SSPX laypeople,” only Catholics who attend SSPX Masses. Though if they have a schismatic mindset, I suppose they are themselves schismatic, although simply attending SSPX Masses does not make on schismatic in and of itself.

Too True,
But if people refuse to go to any mass that is not said by a SSPX priest (or “independent” priest), then they are SSPX people in my mind, though they may not be officially. There is also a SSPV (V=fifth) group, but they are much smaller, just more conservative even than the SSPX. 🤷
Thanks for clearing that up for people. 👍

Margarite

I’m sorry it took me so long to get pics… and then to learn how to attach them… seems like we may have gotten off topic a little! lol but here are my pics! I have enjoyed the others!

tpraines, that is gorgeous! What is the thing beneath the altar/table part, though? Is that a painting of a church, a screen of some sort? It looks really cool, whatever it is. 😛

Fr. Boyd,

Wherever did you find your statue of St. Teresa of Avila?

Thank you,

Mis
The EWTN calalogue… which is where I also found the crucufix and the statue of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. The statue of St. John of the Cross I purchased from Leaflet Missal.

I like it. It is simple yet says a lot. I think it shows a respectful piety. May I ask is that a multi-purpose room, or is it just for that? I think it’s nice. Many people, myself included tend to go overboard (at least I would if I had the money 😃 ) with too much stuff.
Thank you! It’s actually an extra bedroom (which isn’t used as bedroom), so it’s really only used as a private chapel (there is no bed in the room).

So here is the chapel today. My dad and I extended the mensa (with two boards, one on each side), because it was too short for the TLM.

How lovely!! I would love to have a room like that! You must spend a lot of time in there. I would!😃

Yes, I can see, It’s nice to have a room just for prayer. Some Baptist friends of mine had prayer room as well. 🤷

O.k. Today I made myself a portable shrine for vacation, summer camp, visiting away from home, etc. I got a box (about the size of a shoebox) and put a small plastic Mary, a crucifix, and a rosary. On the outside there is a copper pannel with a ship (paul’s journey) and 3 sticker I put. They say Jesus, pray, and believe. I will have pics tommorow.

Father, I find it very interesting that you and your parents have a private chapel for you to say Mass in. What a privelige! Do you ever have special Masses for family members in there?

Thank you!
You’re welcome. The expansion of the Altar for the EF keeps it’s charm as well. Do you have a preference for your private Masses, or do you say either Form?

If I might asked, what relics, if any, are found in the Altar stone in the Altar that you mentioned? I bet there’s a good story behind that.

Since September 14, 2007, I have said the EF, except for two days when I was not feeling well, I said the OF, since it is simpler.

The altar stone was a gift from a priest, who inherited it from an old priest whom he said always used it when he offered Mass away from a church. I’m not certain what relics are in the stone itself, but I have placed some additional relics between the bottom of the stone and the mensa: St. Katherine Drexel (2nd class), St. Therese (3rd class), Padre Pio (3rd class) and Ven. Solanis Casey (2nd class). The rubrics of the TLM presume you are offering Mass at least on such an altar stone with relics.

My parents normally join me for Mass in the chapel on my days off. I guess there have been some special Masses as well, such as for the Solemnities of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. Teresa of Avila (I am a Secular, or Third Order, Carmelite, so they are Solemnities/Feasts of the I Class for me).
