I think it looks good and is a good reminder of the BVM. If I may offer a suggestion for your shrine, you should add, in that empty spot in the middle of the shrine, a large crucifix or a large statue of Our Lady (of Graces, of Fatima, &c.,)Mine is more of a Marian shrine. It is in my bedroom. Sorry my webcam is very blurry.

No you are not . An altar is for the celebration of the Eucharist .I am in the process of making myself a home alter.
Petronus, what if SacredHeartfan’s bishop comes to visit and grants himself permission to celebrate the holy sacrifice of the mass on it? Then it would become a real altar forever. For now, then, we have to admit it’s at least a potential altar. No you are not . An altar is for the celebration of the Eucharist .
Whatever you are making is not an altar . Please read the link below .

To nuture your future wishes, how about finding something like this below? They come in various designs with all kinds of images. Easy to use, move or pop into a drawer if you need to be discreet. No need to deny yourself a beautiful image to inspire you with things like this around!Wow, I was brought up in a church where there was nothing except a plain wooden cross and candle sticks and they were changed to brass cross and candlesticks for services, things at home were not encouraged and sometimes frowned apon, admittly it was an Anglican church but I always dreamt of having a cross and a picture of Jesus at home to guide my thoughts and prayers. At one time, in my teenage years, I had a palm cross and attacted it to the wall above my bed
, although my mum collected these all up and gave them back to the Vicar the following year.
This thread has brought back lovely memories and future wishes. Thank you.
