Ok, does your priest EVER mention Satan and/or Hell? Or what causes us to go there?
Serious question.

Yes, and interestingly enough he preached about the dangers of Satan when I was in the focal point of temptation.Ok, does your priest EVER mention Satan
The homily should be based on the readings of the day and whatever feast or memorial the day might be (if any). There are plenty of Biblical passages on hell and how are behavior influences if we end up there, so yes, our priests preach on it. I wouldn’t expect to hear a ‘fire and brimstone’ sermon at a Catholic church just for affect.Ok, does your priest EVER mention Satan and/or Hell? Or what causes us to go there?

How about sometimes? No, he doesn’t and I must confess that I really do not care to hear fire and brimstone every time I go to Mass.
No, but I do like it better when the homilist speaks directly to references to Gehenna in Matthew or the lake of fire in Revelations or whatever. I don’t think it does anyone any favors to just pass over language that strong. It has to be explained, directly and honestly. No, he doesn’t and I must confess that I really do not care to hear fire and brimstone every time I go to Mass.
