I’m 31 year old male and I am living with my male partner and we are both practicing Catholic’s. We are living together for a year now and we are both concerned about saving our souls, and decided to live and practice chastity for the rest of our lives together. We are totally align with the catholic church’s teaching on homosexuality, I mean we neither support nor encourages gay marriages and pro choice issues, and due to this we are getting the heat from our friends, relatives and neighbors and often accused of being hypocrites for being a gay couple and not supporting gay rights.

Our situation is like this, we live together , we both love each other very much, we are in a monogamous relationship, we practice our faith like receiving the sacraments like confession and the Eucharist, saying the rosary and divine mercy chaplet, devotion to the saints, we have sacramental like holy water and the scapular etc. But we are also both homosexual in a homosexual relationship, but we do abstain from sex and avoid occasion of sin as much as we can and God is the center of our lives. One thing though is I really love him very much and our relationship has gotten to that point where its not centered in sex which most homosexual relationships are, but its more on companionship and faith. Personality I cannot imagine to continue life without him, but I don’t want to go to hell either, and I am not sure if the chastity thing (like abstaining from sex and other sins of the flesh like masturbation, pornography etc.) would be enough to save us, or are we still condemned for eternal damnation when we die unless we both end the relationship and live on our separate ways? We are striving to avoid every mortal sin possible and stay in the state of grace as long as we can. I am having a hard time to find a compassionate ear about this, usually the things that I see is that we either separate or burn in hell irregardless if we are practicing chastity or not, the mere fact that we are in a homosexual relationship is wrong, immoral and would lead our souls to hellfire and we would see each other in hell. At this point though, I am very certain about myself and also about my partner that I would want to spend the rest of my days here on earth with him, to be separated from someone you love so much is like suicide.

Your enlightenment is much appreciated ☺️

I think atheism would solve your problems. 😉

No, you are fine. Don’t listen to the haters, Jesus loves everyone. Your souls seem fine to me, I don’t think you have anything to worry about. I hope (and pray) one day the love in the world will finally destroy the hate in this world, and you can marry the love of your life.

good luck and Christ be with you.

Have you discussed this with a priest? The two comments so far are not exactly from a sound catholic standpoint, I’m sorry to say.

God bless and good luck.

You have to lend a dull ear to those who tell you to fall away from God. Same sex attraction is in itself not a sin. In essence you and your partner are living as two brothers would. Remain in a chaste relationship, continue to follow the teaching of the CC, partake in the Sacraments to stay in a state of grace. You have nothing to fear.

You mention you are both frequenting the Sacrament of Confession. What does the priest say about this? You don’t have to answer, it’s rhetorical. If you are living chastely, and not giving scandal to others, it sounds like you are making a heroic effort to live with a heavy burden.

The OP knows that the highlighted portion is against church teaching, and as a Catholic you should too. Marriage can never be re-defined!

I just want to say how much respect I have for the two of you. It can’t be easy but I admire so much that you’re trying to live your faith honestly rather than do what many do and turn away from the Lord. God Bless you!

Talk to your priest/confessor. He will be able to understand your situation better and give you sound advice.

Personally, I think you two are fine if you stay chaste. The problem is that each of you is a possible near occasion of sin for the other. If living together, the chance of a strong temptation to sin is likely. Do speak to a priest. Annonimity in confession is possible, but do talk to a priest. A couple married outside the Church can remain together if they promise to live as brother and sister, so I see no reason that you can’t live with the person you love under similar conditions.

No I have not, I’m afraid that he might ex-communicate me or deny me absolution when I go to confession.

both of us are filled with fear that the Lord might say “Be gone…” when we face him. Sometimes I feel discouraged, but thank you for your incite, it made me feel better though 🙂

My brother in Christ,

Your post breaks my heart. I wish, hope, and pray that you find peace with the Church and with your relationship.

Can you live a chaste life with your partner?

You, and your partner, are in my prayers.

You wouldn’t be ex-communicated. Make an appointment with your priest, perhaps bring your partner with you and you can discuss your concerns and the priest can help you identify any problems with your current arrangement and help you resolve them.

You have a very heavy cross to bear. It appears you have accepted this cross and are living a chaste and holy life. There is nothing wrong with living with a brother you love. Avoid sin, keep the sacraments, stay close to God and the rewards of heaven will overwhelm you. Help each other gain your eternal reward in heaven and don’t listen to those who want you to take earthly pleasures that would separate you from God. Put your trust in God! Sometimes he sends us horrible burdens but by faithfulness we show our love for Him. Who pleases God more? the man who has had an easy life of the one who conquers a heavy burden?

Thank you, I would like to someday but since the Church is against it I accept that and I support the church and have accepted this cross to bear for the love of Jesus and just hope and pray that God will have mercy on our souls as well as everyone that has the same cross that we are carrying. We pray for the salvation of souls who are afflicted with homosexuality, we include this in our novena and hope that God in his infinite wisdom would hear us and save us.
