Homosexual ‘Mix It Up’ day - Is your child’s school on the list?
Radical Southern Poverty Law Center behind gay indoctrination program
October 1, 2012

On, Tuesday, October 30, over two thousand schools across the nation will be observing “Mix It Up” (MIU) day. MIT is a nationwide push to promote the homosexual lifestyle in public schools. A strong focus is directed specifically to elementary and junior high grades.

MIU is a project of the fanatical pro-homosexual group, Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). This is the same organization that launched hateful and malicious rhetoric toward the Family Research Council just prior to the August shooting of a security guard by a SPLC sympathizer.

There were 71 chosen best schools last year - one being Immaculate Conception - Columbia, Illinois and another being Mercy Vocational school - Philadephia, PA.

I looked at the SPLC web page but couldn’t find any reference to homosexuality:confused:

AFA is a pretty good group so there must be a reason -could be just because it is sponsored by the infamous Southern Poverty Law group or maybe they have footage of last years events?

I know they have" no name calling" week and each year the" silence no more" GBLT campaign takes place in April in most schools.

I’ve been searching for the topic “EcoJustice Education” on this forum. But I can’t find it. However, this is close enough to get the converstation going. I’m a graduate student getting certified. A revamped course received a grant to revamp the Diverse Population’s course. Well, when they say “diverse” they really mean it. I strongly recommend everyone locate a book that we’re using in college. “EcoJustice Elementary” by Martusewicz. (2011).

This required course is for all teacher certifications. If expanded as I’ve seen already will change America’s youth to think radically different. This is seriously liberal to the point of bringing everyone down to Satan’s level of morality in my opinion. It’s exactly what everyone kept saying to be warned about, it’s coming. It is coming and is will not be pretty if allowed to drag the rest of society down. Mean old white men suppressing women are to blame for all the injustices in the world. Woman is subject to man and must go through her man to get to God. These are some examples provided. In fact, the only reason men and maculine and women act feminine is due to this deep rooted oppression that has been perpetuated in our culture that has been excluding the environment, more over ecology. Though some aspects are correct, the author takes it to an extreme and is citing sources I’ve never seen. I hope this isn’t againt the rules but the links:

Oh, and let me add. This is a vile attempt to capture the minds of our children. I watched a 1996 production of this and the teachers want this required without parental approval. Most of the students that were included in the production were saying things like “why shouldn’t the be able marry” They’re not hurting anyone. It was obviously played up. The teachers were exciting and dynamic, including the day they had gay people form various professions and normal lives come in to show the kids they’re normal. I am not a bigot on any level. I have friends that identify themselves as gay. I respect them and know much about them. But including this kind of program in schools should alarm parents. The government is NOT looking out for what’s best for family and our future generations. I foresee much mental illness coming from this down the road as people test and try new things, sexually and whatnot. They’ll live and regret, some will commit suicide, others’ will leave God behind…

Looking on the page describing the event (tolerance.org/mix-it-up/what-is-mix), it doesn’t seem like there is anything specifically pro-homosexual about it. It looks more like it’s getting kids to sit with people that they usually wouldn’t sit with and perhaps learn something about a different group of people. Doesn’t seem specifically pro-homosexual. Am I missing something here?

Be very careful about what is being pushed by University Schools of Education. They were the ones who pushed word recognition instead of phonics in teaching reading, and the new math in the late e1960’s and 1970’s. They were able to make this teaching manditory by school systems in several states. As a result, these states ended up with a couple of generations of young adults that were functionally illiterate and couldn’t do basic math!
Some of these “experts” also wanted to have textbooks using ghetto dialect English and Spanglish to use in minority school systems-particularly in Detroit and other cities with large “minority” and Latino populations.
Of course, any student who openly confronts their professors about any of their pet theories- no matter how outlandish they may be- will not pass the course with a decent grade…such is the politics of college! And anyone who tries to thwart these people with the local School Boards will be branded as a bigot or a reactionary. In the meantime, they end up hurting children and society at large, all the while progressing in their academic careers.

I agree. I think the American Family Association (AFA) is way off-base in these accusations.

My first thought was that the AFA site had been hacked, because normally they are more rational than they claims they made in that alert. But I see the alert was dated October 1st, which was long enough ago for them to remove any malicious content.

Something is wrong at the AFA, I think.

I don’t see anything wrong with having days when students sit with different people. I’ve worked in high schools for several years, and just like when we were in high school- some of us less recently than others:eek:- kids are cliquish in their lunch seating.

I agree. I haven’t heard of AFA before this, but from what you and others are saying, this is very out of the ordinary for them.

Perhaps they have proof from years past that this was, in practice, actually very pro-homosexual. I doubt it, as I’ve never heard of anything like this before.

Whoa, paranoid much? The “Mix it Up at Lunch” day seems like it is geared only toward sitting with someone different at lunch. I’m not really seeing the “homosexshul” agenda here. Maybe it’s got something to do with “Al Kayda” or the “illegals” takin’ all our jobs!

Seriously, this is really irresponsible “reporting”.

The AFA and the Family Research Council are identified as anti-gay hate groups by the SPLC. I’m sure this is just a reaction to that.

It’s not a new program. According to one article this" mix it up" day has been in the schools for 11 years. Saw a video from Saint Joe’s catholic high school done in 2008. There are many catholic schools that participate.

Girls are dancing with girls and hugging but it’s got to be more than that.
Saw this - article from the Daily Mail:
"“The Southern Poverty Law Center recently added the American Family Association - which describes itself as acting to ‘restrain evil by exposing the works of darkness’ - to its national list of active hate groups, which also includes neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers.”
AFA which was founded in 1977 around the same time as National Right to Life And Americam Family Life. It sent out a newsletter with companies to boycott because of abortion. The AFA was there at the beginning of the abortion struggle so I have a lot of respect for it.

I don’t see the AFA as a reactionary group that would promote boycotting this day just because they are put on hate list.

Gay Marriage did not become a real subject matter until Vermont voted in civil unions in 2000. Yes there was Anita Bryan but she lost her job and everything seem to be quiet for many years. The public schools became involved with the" silent no more day" around 2000.

Now, now…let’s not ruin a good opportunity for “righteous outrage” by spreading facts! 😛

Like it or not, when children get out into the world of college and work, they are going to be exposed to people that are different from them in many ways and the sooner they learn to find the ways to get along-the better.

We have created a society that is so polarized that we can’t solve our common problems. It’s not enough anymore to disagree, we have to become mortal enemies. We’ve separated ourselves into armed camps that can think of the “other” only as intent on the destruction of everything we hold dear.

Maybe there is hope that today’s children can learn to find common ground with others and realize that you don’t have to agree on everything in order to work together.

I do not think so. They are very liberal group with a specific agenda. from their website:

Toolkit for ‘Therapy of Lies’
Conversion therapy is ineffective at best, harmful at it’s worst. I have friends that have been through it-one was even sent to a psychiatric hospital and given electro-shock “therapy” to “cure” her homosexuality. Another was sent to a “Christian” center where he was told to masturbate to the point of agonizing pain. I know a few who went to the Exodus sponsored programs before even that group admitted that conversion therapy doesn’t work. None of the folks I knew are heterosexual now, and what is even sadder-none of them are Christian.

Is God able to change someone’s sexual orientation? Of course-if it is His will. Can anyone force that change? No.

Can someone be led to Jesus and can He change their hearts so that obeying Him is all they want? YES. Perhaps we should be trying to convert people’s hearts instead of their orientation?

The SPLC is an anti-Christian group. It seems to me a good number of its supporters are anti religion. So I find it very interesting that this ‘tolerance’ day encourages the use of the Golden Rule in government schools. From this page: (tolerance.org/activity/getting-know-each-other-lunch-day-mixer
The 3rd-graders answered the jail question in a particularly intriguing way because they wanted to know why the person was in jail; in their minds, a tax-evader was a better option for a friend than someone who committed a violent crime. Since they judged violence so harshly, this activity served as a beautiful illustration of the Golden Rule, which challenges us to treat others the way we want to be treated.
After the discussion, we recite a poem together, often with special hand motions:
Code:
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
You gotta give it, to get it,
Yeah, that's the key!
We live by the Golden Rule, you see,
At Westwood Elementary.
Last of all, I give each student a gold-colored bracelet embossed with the word “Respect” to remind them to respect differences and live by the Golden Rule. After the lesson, one 1st-grader made it a point to tell me he was “wearing the Golden Rule.”
I’m not someone who wrongly thinks the first amendment ever meant that this country could not celebrate and promote Christianity in or by the government. But these people do usually believe this. So what is their goal here in supposedly teaching the Golden Rule? Keep in mind their idea of the Golden Rule is most likely perverted. The Golden Rule is only golden if used by a well formed conscience. As an example I mean the Golden Rule does not mean that all judges should let all criminals go free. A judge with a well formed conscience would realize that justice must be had. If he were the criminal he would still respect justice and expect reparations. Misapplied by poorly formed consciences the Golden Rule can be used to promote homosexuality with the wrong argument that if you were the homosexual you’d want others to celebrate and promote your lifestyle. What would be missing is the well formed conscience that understands that homosexual behavior is itself wrong.

“Boys aren’t princesses,” she blurted out matter-of-factly and started to chuckle.
There, out loud and clear, was a thought I had hoped to preempt. But already she had formulated the idea, based on observations from the world and animated films, chats with other 4-year-olds or, perhaps, snippets of conversation overheard from grown-ups.
I tried to disguise my surprise and concern over the ramifications of this statement. I had wanted to open a discussion to introduce a broader, more accepting world. A world that could embrace boys who wanted to be princesses, wear pink, jeans and tiaras.

They are an extreme leftist group.

I do not want to deny psychologists and psychiatrists any treatment that may help. This issue is heavily infused with propaganda from both sides. As we see from this leftist group they have an agenda. It is obvious.

Looked at their web page for “mix it up” and typed in a state and blogging from teachers seem to talk about gay issues so maybe it is their web page that is also of concern to AFA.

In 1967 the Supreme Court ruling on Loving v. Virginia went a long way toward making marriage a right that more Americans could exercise. In Loving, the court decided that laws prohibiting African Americans and white Americans from marrying violated the Constitution. The Loving ruling said, among other things, “Marriage is one of the ‘basic civil rights of man,’ fundamental to our very existence and survival.”
