MILAN, May 26, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – One of Italy’s most outspokenly dissenting Catholic priests, Domenico Pezzini, has been arrested for abuse of a male teenaged victim. Pezzini, a 73 year-old priest of the diocese of Lodi, was arrested Monday in Milan. Police also revealed that a large quantity of child pornography had been found after a search of Pezzini’s residence.

In keeping with mainstream media coverage of clerical sex abuse, the Italian media is presenting the abuse as a case of “pedophilia,” or the abuse of a child. Nevertheless, police have made it public that the victim was not a child, but a minor adolescent, between 13 and 16, at the time of the alleged abuse, over three years ago.

Aurelio Mancuso, former president of Arcigay, the country’s leading homosexualist activist group, was quoted saying, “In these hours is strong discouragement among many gay Catholics who have known Don Mario Pezzini personally or through his actions and deeds.

“We have always enjoyed a journey of pastoral listening and defending the dignity of homosexuals within the Catholic Church. All this cannot overshadow the accusations made against the prelate that seem to be precise and detailed: violence and sexual abuse of children.”

Well, well another case of "pedophilia."The problem isn’t heterosexual pedophile priests its a minority of homosexual hebephile priests.

I wonder how many of these “pedophile” cases are really cases of gay men having affairs with gay teenagers? I think the newspapers should be ashamed of themselves for covering up the facts.

When will all this end? 😦
When we go back to being Catholic. And that is happening right now.

You shouldn’t despair. The “Sexual Revolution” is over. It failed. Liberalism is dead in the water. The culture of the West may have fallen to paganism, but the Church will endure and we will return to our traditions.

I think there are probably only a few deviants left in the Church. Time and mortality will take care of them.

“The focus of pedophilia is sexual activity with a child. Many courts interpret this reference to age to mean children under the age of 18. Most mental health professionals, however, confine the definition of pedophilia to sexual activity with prepubescent children, who are generally age 13 or younger. The term ephebophilia, derived from the Greek word for “youth,” is sometimes used to describe sexual interest in young people in the first stages of puberty.”

It’s excusable that newspapers side with the courts, given that the technical term ephebophilia is hard to pronounce, and especially as in this case the police “also revealed that a large quantity of child pornography had been found after a search of Pezzini’s residence.”

Is that a get-out-of-jail-free card - praise the Lord, it’s just them pesky gays again?

Did you mean to say “for reporting the facts”?🙂

What is this term “homosexualist”? I have never heard this term.

What is this term “homosexualist”? I have never heard this term.
I googled it…this is what I came up with:
I mention this by way of explaining a point that has puzzled many of my readers this past three or four years, and to the elucidation of which it is high time I gave over a column. Here’s the point: In passing comment on the “gay rights” movement, I have sometimes used the word “homosexualist,” and I have had many e-mails asking me what the difference is between a homosexual and a homosexualist. Don’t these two words have the same meaning?

The answer is: Only if you are a careless writer. Gore Vidal, for example, who is a careless writer, although often a very amusing one, uses these two words synonymously. I don’t. I use the suffix “-ism” to indicate the presence of an ideology. A homosexual is a person who is erotically attracted towards persons of his or her own sex. **A homosexualist is a type of ideologue — which means, someone who divides the human race into two fundamentally opposed categories, the Elect and the Damned, Lenin’s “Who” and “Whom.” For a homosexualist, the Elect are homosexuals and those who “celebrate” them, the Damned are homophobes like me, who, for various reasons, and with various intensities of feeling about the matter, decline to join in the celebrations. **

As usual with ideologues, homosexualists make no distinctions among the Damned. Differences of degree cannot — must not! — be admitted. That would open up cracks in the ideological edifice, through which might seep the deadly poisons of charity, understanding, compassion, compromise, and the three dreaded h-words that act on the ideologue like garlic on a vampire: humanity, humility, and humor. A mild, tolerant homophobia like mine is precisely as bad, as “sickening,” as demonic, as that of a booted thug who goes out on a Friday night with brass knuckles and a length of lead pipe looking for pansies to beat up. “Mild, tolerant homophobia” is, to the homosexualist mind-set, a plain oxymoron, as “mild, tolerant capitalism” would be to a Marxist. I am accused of “gay-bashing” all the time, though I am an inoffensive and pacific person who would never bash anyone that hadn’t first bashed me, or someone I care about. But there, of course, I am using the actual meaning of the word “bash.” Ideologues are deeply hostile to the notion that words have actual meanings. Ideology is the sworn enemy of language; George Orwell patiently explained all that to us 60 years ago.

Yep it’s that MINORITY of pesky Gays again who can’t keep their hands off of post-pubescent boys or young men-Hebeplies in other words.

I cannot BELIEVE the intellectual contortions that Liberals go through to convince themselves and others that these acts are committed by heterosexuals-it must actually cause physical if not spiritual pain.

When will all this end? 😦
When this generation of priests passes on to their reward.

I am NOT saying that all of the priests of this generation are to be blamed–far from it. But a disproportional percentage of that generation, say 60-80 year olds, seem to be involved. I can not imagine the pain of good priests of that generation (a majority).

A new generation of orthodox priests is in the way, praise Goid

98.8% of this generation of priests are innocent, not impeccable,as NONE of us humans are except Mary.I’m not counting Jesus because He is also Fully God-hypostatic union and all that.
My parish priest has saved souls and is the epitome of a living Saint as are hundreds of thousands of other priests his age-65.I realise that you are not saying that all are culpable but be careful in your hope for a “new” generation of priests as they will still be sinners.Hopefully the seminaries will be cleaned up first-ask any priest about the “Lavender Mafia”,in certain seminaries.

A few posts come close to excusing faults in the Church by labeling people.

The priest molested a teenager who was below the age of consent. His sexual orientation, how the story was reported, what we feel about liberals or the reputation of the Church, etc., are irrelevant. The priest sinned.

Two more labels (paraphrased):
  • Christianists are ideologues who put God in a box earnestly believing that He somehow needs their protection.
  • Catholicists are ideologues who seek to minimize wrong-doing in the Church for the sake of marketing spin.
There is another way to deal with these issues. [BIBLEDRB]Matthew 5:29[/BIBLEDRB]

Or in other terms - RAPE. Let’s start calling this what it is. If a priest sexually abuses either a young boy/girl or teenage boy/girl, is there really a difference in the severity? I know that we would all like to pin this on the fact that the priest was gay but really, it has more to do with the mismanagement in the church (pope included). Either way, both actions are control orientated in nature and should be considered rape.

The saddest part of this is that the really good priests (and I have worked with some AMAZING PRIESTS!) get chucked under this sick bus too. The ridicule and jokes must be awful to hear.

Actually, this would have ended A LONG TIME AGO had the popes and bishops had these sexual deviants and rapists ARRESTED instead of hiding them, threatening victims with excommunication, and sending these rapists to different parishes. So, instead of waiting another 30-40 years for “this generation” to die off, let us find and prosecute the guilty and all who covered up/enabled these horrendous crimes (the very small percentage that we speak of).

I have worked with many amazing, holy, and devout priests in my life. The longer we let this scandal ride out, the worse it is for the ones who are actually doing great things for their flock.

Actually, I cannot believe that the pope has skated this far without being tossed into prison. Someone has done a lot of covering up for those “pesky gays” as you call them. Once the enablers are thrown into prison, I think we’ll see and even more dramatic decline in these stories.

It’s not irrelevant at all. The problem is that the Church allowed gays to be ordained. We never wanted these gay priests in the first place. Get rid of them, and the problem of gays molesting teenagers and younger boys is solved. They shouldn’t have been ordained in the first place.

Some of them even got to become bishops. I suspect that has something to do with the coverups.

Well, in a way, it’s irrelevant. The common denominator with this scandal has more to do with the covering up, enabling, and mismanagement in the Catholic Church leadership than it does about homosexuals. Had the management not covered up these crimes and tried to hide the problem and instead, dealt with the problem sooner, we could have avoided a lot of pain and lost innocence. Very sad.

Say what you will about homosexuals, this has more to do with the failure to react on part of the pope, bishops and other church leaders. They allowed and enabled these monsters to hurt children and minors and sadly, will have to deal with this stain on their credibility for a very long time now.

It is irrelevant to the victims and their parents, who are in the process of being forgotten.

Harm was done, and the Church is responsible.
How would YOU know.Of course it’s relevant to the victim’s and their families-I’ve never heard a claim more utterly ridiculous and contemptible.

They are hardly being forgotten.

No,individuals with a homosexual affliction(a minority if homosexuals)were responsible and those Bishops who thought they were doing the right thing by sending these sick men for"treatment",then reassigning them, and covering up their misdeeds.

The Catholic Church is a Divine Institution instituted by Jesus Christ 2000 years ago.The Church is guilty of nothing. Some of those within it are.Just like Judas was with the Apostles.

The mess IS being cleaned up.I suggest you google Baptist sex crimes

When will all this end? 😦
When we finally concede that recognized having sex with any child is seriously demented. If a priest has sex with a man, he should get the boot. If he has sex with a teen, he should get the boot, excommunicated and spend the rest of his life in prison. If he “have sex” [as if that is possible] with a pubescent child, he should be stripped literally of any and all rights as a human being and put to sleep slowly utilizing St. Thomas More’s method of purging the soul. Just an honest opinion from a victim of a sex crime committed by one of our very own. Oh, and I wasn’t gay. I was vehemently disgusted by it and he knew. But I guess he thought he could recruit me along with some of the others. I finally discovered that my seminary actually purged homosexuals from the school, but it took them too long to do anything about it and left me wondering in a desert most of my life. It cost me my livelyhood and family. it cost me my faith in God and returned only when I accepted another organizations claim to the throne of being the one true church, and attempted to convert others. That’s why I was a fundamentalist for so many years before having to eat crow realizing that the Catholic Church was in fact the first church. It took learning about other scandals that helped me deal with mine. And then it was like someone cut out my intestines just to say “YES, Lord, I’ll come back home”. And then to see so many “Catholics” being so wishy washy and frankly cruel, not only on this forum, but in real life. I loath anyone’s action that does not enable those of us trying to teach truth, even if it sounds uncharitable because Catholics are not used to being taught to stand up for their faith. I endure much loathe towards me now in my family and general comments by others when I say we’re Catholic.

Just yesterday a security guard at my son’s high school asked me if I was a minister. I told him I’m in the process of becoming a deacon. The first thing out of his mouth was about Martin Luther King and his night life. He said it’s everywhere. Just the fact that that is the first thing people think about Catholicism is enough to warrant positive change…but change in behavior of our bishops who allowed this to go on, some of whom were just as guilty and therefore one of my reasons for believing that maybe we do not deserve celibate priests. We, the laity, also played right into it turning our backs of those of us who claimed we were abused. We were told to shut up or keep it to yourself, or that we are mentally ill or something…even by family. Try living in hell unable to talk about it. Even priests acted like we weren’t trusting in the grace of God as if it were our fault. Shame on everyone that thinks this way. What a horrible message we’ve sent our children.

Just harsh words coming from the heart. Now for the backlashes from moderators and posters. I don’t know about them but I believe in the God of mercy and if the offenders are truly sorry they’ll have nothing to fear with the just punishments administered to them.
