It’s not irrelevant at all. The problem is that the Church allowed gays to be ordained. We never wanted these gay priests in the first place. Get rid of them, and the problem of gays molesting teenagers and younger boys is solved. They shouldn’t have been ordained in the first place.

Some of them even got to become bishops. I suspect that has something to do with the coverups.
But then we still have the issues of those that fall into child molestation or heterosexual misconduct and rape. A teen is not allowed to give consent and an adult knows that, thus being automatically guilty of rape. If a priest has a problem he needs to bring it up with his spiritual director immediately. Keeping it a secret is not healthy for anyone. The problem is sexual misconduct is shameful for most anyone. And if they feel trapped what are they to do. I would suggest that its possible for a significant number of priests to have sexual urges that are extremely difficult to control. So much so that in certain vulnerable situations they too become vulnerable. Still no excuse though. There simply may be some argument to allow a certain order of married clergy now. It’s ashamed though. I really love the celibate priesthood. But I’ve recognized clearly that some of them simply do not believe they too can remain celibate and it comes out in so many bad ways. A priest that is happy may be a priest that can serve with more confidence and loyalty. Women or men won’t tempt some of them quite as much. But, predators will always exist no matter what we do. There is no straight or easy answer, no pun intended.

We, as men, must help priests be men. We must not allow us to be reduced to as “only a lay man”. This is what Pope Benedict is really talking about. Men need to stand by priests and bishops to help them remain strong in their state in life. Guys, you know, just like me, that it is always a struggle even when you’re married. Why? Because women go through cycles that impeded the marriage act. We too suffer much, though not as much as priests. So in many ways we should be able to relate our struggles with fidelity as a result. It is very difficult to abstain for, I’d say most, men. However we manage to do it. But I’m sure no one would be so quick to admit their failings, whether in the mind or especially in the act. Priests are men, graced by God. However, so are we, through the sacrament of Holy Matrimony. We must move towards helping priests realize that they do not need to live separate and apart from faithful Catholic men. They should be one of the guys. Though based on personal opinion and observations I think I may be on to something others have shared with me.

Any constructive and criticism on my thoughts?🤷

eucharisteo - I agree with a lot of what you say (perhaps omitting the bit about being burned at the stake).

One practical way to help a priest is that, whenever he must conduct a meeting with a minor, he should do it in a corner of the church or in a room with internal windows, while you watch from a distance. He and the child then have privacy (they cannot be overheard) whilst both know that they are being protected.

When I compare my life with yours, I cannot begin to know what you have been through. If it means anything at all then for all your days [BIBLEDRB]Numbers 6:24-26[/BIBLEDRB]

It is irrelevant to the victims and their parents, who are in the process of being forgotten.
On being forgotten - count the posts up to that point about the victims.

On irrelevance, it’s natural for any organization to want to protect its workers, but it appears that in some cases the Church got the balance badly wrong. What is less understandable is to stereotype these offenders. Christ taught that God loves us all. A first step in trying to follow that teaching is to discard and rebuke prejudice, whether against blacks, women, or self-defined labels like “homosexualists”. There should surely be a difference between our attitude to the sin and to the sinner (and if that isn’t Church doctrine then perhaps a moderator would intervene to correct me). The victims were harmed, and that harm cannot be diminished by wordsmiths.
The Church is guilty of nothing.
There is a difference between guilt and responsibility. Priests are ordained by the Church, employed by the Church, and represent the Church. The Church needs better recruitment, better oversight and better support. Crucially, it cannot move on without acknowledging past failures and changing attitudes, both within its hierarchy and within the flock. If that isn’t done energetically and wholeheartedly the danger is that fewer people will come to Christ, in my church and in yours.
I suggest you google Baptist sex crimes
These issues affect us all, none of us can afford complacency. The last thing anyone needs is kids running in terror from Christians.
