Homosexuals Hijack Christian Fish Symbol

Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles endorses move

BUDAPEST, Hungary, Jan. 8 /Christian Newswire/ – The Christian fish symbol is an ancient and sacred symbol for the persecuted Christians in the 1st century, as well as contemporary believers in Christ. But that symbol which showed that Christians identified with each other in their obedience to follow Christ is taking on a whole new meaning. The Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, as one of their ministries, ‘Ministry with Lesbians and Gay Catholics’ decided to make the sacred fish symbol into a rainbow fish symbol pin.

As most people know, the homosexual community has long used the rainbow as a symbol of their solidarity with the movement to legitimize homosexuality in their communities. From the Diocese’ own website, it states “See in the fish pin a sign of recognition of our lesbian and gay sisters and brothers. The pin signals solidarity with all people of faith who promote justice and inclusivity for every person in their faith communities.”

Phil Magnan, the Director of Biblical Family Advocates, a Christian ministry to promote biblical morality had this to say in response, “I was somewhat stunned that such a large Catholic Diocese which represents millions of Catholics would ignore the mandates of their own faith, which says “The Catholic Church thus teaches: "Basing itself on sacred Scripture, “homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.”

Yep. First they hijacked the rainbow, which is bad enough. I don’t like the implication of a Catholic diocese using/approving of the symbol. It implies acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle.

As the author says, reaching out in compassion to those with SSA is correct, but you have to call the sin a sin.

This is outrageous! The fish symbol is an ancient and holy symbol of Christ! How dare they pervert it! :mad:
 
Please don’t get me wrong… I am in no way a fan of Cardinal Mahony, but in his statement regarding the mission to gays and lesbians, I was surprised to find the following: “MLGC chooses to follow a prudent pastoral course, accepting people where they are in their discipleship with Jesus Christ, and their membership in the Church, and challenging them to live out fully the call of Christ and the teachings of the Church” and “MLGC supports movements for homosexual and lesbian persons that are consonant with Church teaching, especially those which safeguard human dignity and promote human rights.”

Yes, but he doesn’t say what that is on that page, and I can’t find any mention of Chastity and Homosexuality together on his website.

It’s a SSA website. I doubt they’ll advocate chastity and purity at all. They are sexual active homosexuals who don’t want to live a pure and chase life.

What we need to do as faithful Catholics and Christians is to keep using the fish symbol and NOT let them have it. I’m keeping my fish wallet, ring and necklace!
 
It sounds to me as though the Cardinal Archbishop HANDED the fish over to them. Sad.
 
There is a car in my town with a fish with little legs on it, and underneath it says “Darwin”.

A human being is also an ancient and holy symbol of Christ (and much more) and look how we treat them! That’s a bigger scandal, in my opinion. 🙂

Catholics need to take back both the rainbow and the fish!!
 
Let’s not get our bowels into an uproar over this.

The fish symbol has been parodied often enough that it hardly means anything serious. And, it’s not a “Catholic” symbol. The Fundamentalists were the first to use it as a bumper sticker. Which is why I’d never display the thing. I’m a Catholic, not a Christian Zionist Evangelical.

BTW, the 1st century Christians did not go about displaying the fish from windows and banners. It was a secret sign employed to identify individuals as Christians and shown covertly.
 
This is simply another ploy by gay rights activists to blur the distinction between what is good and holy with what is profane and evil in the goal of gaining wider mainstream normalization/acceptance of the gay lifestyle.

My problem isn’t as much with the gay rights activists using the “rainbow fish,” as it is with the LA Archdiocese using it on their outreach site.

It also seems to me that they got fed up with the “Rainbow” "
and decided to subtly attack another biblical symbol.
These are the OH so much maligned marginalised group, innocents, who have it hard and want to have their union legitimsed so life is easier for them.
No no no no its totally about assault of all that is Godly and Christian.
