Can an unmarried heterosexual couple do that? No.
Furthermore, I don’t think it has to be all out sodomy to be sinful. Any actions that are homosexual in intent and nature would be a sin, in my opinion.

Two person NOT MARRIED and living together would have to be considered living in a state like being a brother AND sister OR 2 brothers OR 2 sisters living together.

THAT MEANS, Seperate Bedrooms. No physical contact beyond that of a ‘traditonal’ family member would do.

I have a gay friend and we were close, when I do see him, I act toward him like a ‘real brother’ as in like being MY OWN brother. The friendship has blossomed further being in a ‘brother’ relationship. Take from one WHO KNOWS.

someone brings up a good point here–lets say they are Catholic ad they sleep in seperate bedroomsbut are in “love” but do not engage in sexually activity–at what point does their activity become sin?

Again, this would be inappropriate for heterosexuals in the same position. It is an occasion of sin.

Only for those who are unable to control themselves.

Well, it might be scandal either way. I would also say it might be prideful to just assume one will be able to control one’s self in that situation. Always good to be on the safe side. Why get as close to sin as possible?

Why are all of you obsessed with what Homosexuals do? Or how they live? I’m waiting for your answers

This the moral theology forum, where we discuss morality. Homosexuality is one of the bigger moral issues in our culture today.

Yes Genesis but it just seems there are a lot of people on this who are OBSESSED with homosexuality. Not sure if they are hiding something…Think about it…

You know, if they are going to hug and kiss in there own house with no one else, the temptation is like so huge that I don’t think any living man or dead man with those attractions could ressist them. And hugging and kissing on the cheak is probably a sin when they do it for homosexual reasons.

Genesis, What about the pope who did NOTHING to thwart pedophile priests? Where is the “morality in that”? I know you won’t be able to answer that question…

Two people who are not “interested” in each other can coexist nicely enough in a home.

In my experience, it would be a major trial if not a disaster if they were “interested”. Even if you figure out how to not on occasion get to “close”, I think it is basically impossible not to be otherwise intertwined like lovers if you live together for a long time.

For many, this would be hell. I don’t think you should live with someone as your spouse (even without the sex) if they are not your spouse. The relationship would have to stay brotherly in the way they talk over breakfast, glance across the room at the other, wait for the return of the other if gone a long time, etc.

If they are going to be spouses of the heart on account of the living together, then it is a bad idea. This is my current opinion.

My post is not specific to gay men, btw.

This is oldest canard in the book. “If someone has a problem with homsexuality. they must be latent homos themselves.”

Drivel. Grow up.

Any expression of homosexuality is a sin. It doesn’t matter what kind of expression it is.

Occasion of sin. Playing with fire. A very, very bad idea, whether for homosexual or heterosexual people. Deliberately putting oneself in a situation so fraught with temptation would be foolish even for a saint. Why not starve someone for a week, than spread out a banquet and forbid them to eat it?

Guess again:D

It was the bishops job to punish these people. They were the ones culpable for covering it up. The pope couldn’t thwart anything himself. The bishops should have defrocked the pedophiles immediately. There was nothing the pope could do about it because he didn’t know about it until after the fact. What do you suggest he should have done? Believe me, if the pope screwed up, I would have no problem talking about it. I’ve talked about past popes who have sinned quite often (Alexander VI comes to mind.) Remember popes speak infallibly under certain conditions; they are not personally infallible or impeccable.

This is one of those questions where moral absolutes don’t apply. There is no INHERENT sin in living in a house with someone, of the same or opposite sex. The absolute moral values creep in when we discuss their behavior with eachother.

That being said, I agree with those that say if there is interest between them, then they’d be playing with fire. I would NOT want to live with someone I was attracted to but not married to. Talk about begging Satan! Talk about playing chicken with a train! :bigyikes:
