Gay activists in Berlin are already mounting opposition to Archbishop-elect Rainer Maria Woelki, because of the prelate’s public statements against homosexuality.

The new archbishop, who was appointed last week, will not be installed until August 27. But secular leaders in Berlin have questioned whether a Church leader who “openly has a problem with gay people” can survive there, and have denounced his “backward” religious beliefs.

What is truly backward is the belief that a homosexual can commit homosexual acts and get married without also committing a grave evil. Unfortunately, that is what many homosexuals and homosexual rights advocates believe.

The article doesn’t give much in the way of details. Did homosexual activists really think that the pope would appoint an archbishop who favored homosexual activity? If there was even a chance of that happening, then it is the Catholic faithful who should be protesting.

There used to be a saying: “Is the pope Catholic?” It’s no longer funny if you actually expect a pope–or an archbishop–who is NOT Catholic.

Gays probably expected the archbishop to simply remain silent, whatever he thought. Obviously, the Pope didn’t agree, or he would not have made him archbishop.

The gay agenda is very powerful on a global scale. They are well financed and politically supported everywhere. May AB Woelki remain strong and faithful and not be the first “martyr” in this cause.

One the one hand there is the global gay agenda. On the other is global economic crisis. Far more worrisome than the prospect of a few degrees of global temperature rise.
