are you suggesting the Vatican will be erring in protecting the Truth? that’s a big accusation.
 
The regime in Beijing is atheistic; its tenets are inimical to the Catholic faith.

Cardinal Zen understands this.
 
Catholics in China have for years in a dilemma. Should they go to the official church which is not recognised by Vatican? Surely not. Should they go to the underground church and risk persecution? Well that’s a hard ask. For those who wish to answer yes, I wonder if they are willing to go to ISIS head quarters and proclaim the Truth?

So if a deal will make the Catholic Church legitimate and I can’t imagine the Vatican will compromise on dogma then what’s the problem?
Unless you also suggest the Vietnam deal is a compromise on Truth? Whilst Catholics in the west are declining, the church in Vietnam is growing. In fact they are exporting priests to the west where there are shortages.
Could not the same happen in China?
