Sorry, your Project Veritas “proof” is just anecdotal and opinion-based. Certainly not enough to throw serious doubt on the deaths caused by covid-19.

The federal government is classifying the deaths of patients infected with the coronavirus as COVID-19 deaths, regardless of any underlying health issues that could have contributed to the loss of someone’s life.
That is totally appropriate in those cases where, if covid-19 had not been present, the person would likely have survived with his underlying health issues.

Dying WITH and OF COVID-19 are often 2 entirely different things.

When the cause of death is something other than COVID, the death should never be listed as a COVID death.

Ok…
Personal experience.
My wife’s uncle died of a heart attack.
He smoked, he drank like a fish, he was morbidly obese. His lifestyle finally killed him.

A week later we find the cause of death listed as covid.

I disagree. If covid-19 pushed them over the edge, then it should be counted. If covid-19 had absolutely nothing to do with it (as in that infamous motorcycle accident) then it should not be counted.

With the information you have provided one cannot tell if it should or should not be listed as attributed to covid-19. That is up to a medical examiner or coroner to decide. You say his lifestyle finally killed him, but do you know for sure he would have died that very day even if he did not have covid-19?

There are deaths wrongly being attributed to corona virus.

The average age of people dying without corona virus = age 80 approximately (78 from 2017 stats if I recall correctly).

The average age of people dying with corona virus = age 82.

Corona virus may be a smaller factor than we ever realize. More work needs to be done.

And people need to quit falsely attributing deaths WITH incidental corona virus, as deaths FROM corona virus.
That is up to a medical examiner or coroner to decide.
Not necessarily.

Deaths in our family have never been signed out by the coroner. Just our physicians taking care of the people when they die. I’m pretty sure when my aunt died recently her oncologist signed her death certificate and she had no autopsy.

But usually that is true if the deceased patient goes to autopsy (most do not).

One caveat. The pathologist doing the autopsy may not be “the medical examiner”.
Frequently not in fact.

I see no reason why Johns Hopkins would want to falsify the numbers.

He was never tested.
Then you will have to ask the hospital how they concluded it was covid-19. They have information that I (and possibly you) don’t have. And even then, we are still talking about anecdotes.

The family did.
The hospital backed off of the diagnosis.
Claimed it was just a paperwork error.

Of course we did have a lawyer in the family letting them know they needed to be very careful with their responses.

And even then, we are still talking about anecdotes.
The problem is LeafByNiggle, is significant amounts of “anecdotes” concerning studies pretty soon tell you they are sham numbers.

The deathcount that the media gleefully reports nightly are sham numbers.

The left has decided they wanted to make corona virus about politics. (People are on to this game.)

Who can be surprised.

They make EVERYTHING about politics.

Sham numbers Leaf.

Way too many “anecdotes”.

San Diego Supervisor Says Only 6 Of 194 Coronavirus-Recorded Deaths ‘Pure’ Coronavirus Deaths World News
Over in Colorado a man who obviously died of alcohol poisoning was signed out as corona virus (which sounds like it may have been incidental). Someone suggested that was only “one” incidence (here). Well here in San Diego there is more than one. (It sounds like this default coding as a corona virus death is a nation wide phenomenon. A nurse told my wife and I that a couple of weeks ago too.) Horowitz: One chart exposes the lie behind universal lockdowns associated with Corona Virus World News
. . . . “This simple fact makes a world of difference both to our targeted response to the virus and also to the degree of panic that should and should not be infused into society so as not to keep people away from hospitals when they are experiencing other potentially dangerous medical conditions” . . . The average age of people dying WITH corona Virus in the US? About 82 years old. The average age of people dying WITHOUT corona Virus in the US? About 82 years old (actually closer to 77% if…

It already has.
We know the numbers are wrong.
Great point.

I added an edit to this post to affirm just what you are saying.

Here are the numbers you are going up against:

Total deaths due to covid-19 in the US so far: 137,922

So far your anecdotes have cast doubt on 3, maybe 4 of these deaths. But lets suppose that you were able to find 1000 mis-classified deaths? Even then you would only take the total down to 136,922. That is hardly much better than 137,922, is it. Look, we all know that statistics like this that are gathered during a crisis and bound to be less than perfect. But that does not mean they are not important - not until you can establish some sizable fraction of them are misclassified. That is not likely.

Let’s also address the “pure covid-19 deaths” nonsensical objection. Much is being made about counting covid-19 deaths for people with underlying conditions. There is nothing inappropriate about that. A large fraction of the population has underlying health conditions that might be life threatening. Their lives are just as important as those in perfect health. It is nonsense to count only those deaths of people in perfect health - not to mention very un-Christian.
