My humble suggestion: If someone is truly being unchristian, vile, etc. report them to the moderators. Otherwise its just rhetorical grandstanding.

You support their killing Christians. You were so unconcerned for Joel in Afghanistan. I was the one who started the thread to encourage support. You support them because you blindly ignore the threat and refuse to call them to account. Let me guess. You think it’s all Bush’s fault. You are just another America bashing liberal who finds it convenient to create a conservative fiend then to deal with the real fiends. I have met many like you.
Please post the words of mine wherein I support killing anyone at all.

Please post where I have said anything at all about George Bush, the liberal agenda, or anything similar.

This is really just going off into space now…where are you coming up with these accusations?

I think that is a very good suggestion, but personally I feel that we have to respond to a Priest who is being rude/insulting/advocating the use of nuclear weapons, especially on a board where people of other faiths come to read what Catholics have to say.

Letting that go by in private is sending the message that we don’t care if a religious authority figure says these things, and that’s not the message we should send to other faiths.

That’s the problem. No words at all. Joel is facing death and you say nothing. Sins of omission.

Anyone facing death, including the first-named folks you post, deserves to be spared and whoever would kill him incurs the punishment of God.

Now, where is your piece?

Scott, what is vile is that he knows I can do nothing to hurt anyone. Cest is not a nuclear power and I have no authority to launch any weapons. But he refuses to condemn or call into question those who do. I am the scapegoat whereby he can say he is “doing something” but not really doing anything.

How about advocating doing justice on those who would kill them? Isn’t that the job of the State? I say down hunt the terrorists who kidnapped the journalist. That is not unchristian it is justice.

You are a Priest. Parishioners are supposed to listen to what you say, and take your advice in what they choose to support.

We live in a Democracy here in America, so when you support and encourage others to support violence, you are indeed hurting people.

But please, explain to me why you can’t justify your sentiments based on Catholic teaching. Why do you keep ignoring this issue? Here’s an opportunity for you to explain to us how nuking muslim holy sites fits the Christian mission in the world…let’s hear it

Let’s hear how ignoring terrorism and excusing it even when it martyrs fellow Christians somehow spreads the gospel.

It doesn’t.

Now, how does claiming that muslims are “morons”, that they are terrorists if they follow their religion, that anyone who challenges that notion is a terrorist, and finally that nuclear weapons should be used on muslim holy sites…how do all of those things spread the Gospel?

This thread is now closed.

Thanks for your participation.
