2.-It’s not so much that I go “looking for evil”. You have to understand that evil is present lots of places. Just because the Devil is in Hell doesn’t mean he can’t spread his evil throughout many places of the world. He already has. God has let him do so because He gives everyone a free will. So God won’t necessarily prevent him from throwing evil messages into some songs.

3.-Rock and roll is the #1 type of music that contains Satanic messages. I’m not saying all rock songs do, but there are quite a few rock songs out there that do contain such messages. If you play Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” backwards, you can hear the lines “All hail Satan”. You may think that’s just a rumor too, but if you have that song see if you can find a way to play it backwards. **You can’t say Satan can’t possibly throw evil messages into songs when he already has. **Proof is all over the internet, look it up.
These two points I agree with wholeheartedly, however… simply because Satin is lurking around in hopes of perverting whatever human undertaking happening to be in his path, does not mean that the undertakings itself is the root of the evil, nor that one cant appreciate the works in a prayerful and focused manner and have it be giving glory to God. If I’m at a youth conference and some kids sneak out back to smoke some dope… does it mean the conference was concieved in a Satanic manner? Or that the entire conference should be thrown out because Satan managed to pervert that part of it or those participants? I think not.

Have you ever tried to write or record a song? Its so difficult to make a great song in and of itself, I really doubt these musicians have the capability or the inclination to write them in such a way as to allow these little snipets of “purported” satanic content to be there when played in reverse with the palance set so, and the bass and trebbles set such… if Satan managed to sneak in his message such that the hordes of the masses out there listening to Led Zepplin backwards are reveling in their satanic celebrations… well, granted thats scary, but its probably more appropriatly placed in one of them movies Tom Hanks has been making about the history of christianity and our church than it is place cneter and foremost on our minds when there are so many wholesome and redeeming thoughts we could be sharing. I suppose since Zeplin makes mention of Tolkein we should burn them books too? Surely the satanic thread must run through all things right?

My point is, where would we stop… should we alos banish folks from commenting on the forum who read the tolkein books? Maybe I’ve been seduced by that satanic thread connected to Zepplin, and thus Stairway to heaven, and if I could ever figure out how to rewind in my mind and hear it backwards… the purported “satanic” phrase you mention. (by the way, as a kid we were curious and tried playing it backwards to hear that famous verse… its a tremendous stretch of the imagination to claim it clearly states that… but go ahead and believe all the internet bloggers contented to pass on for truth what they’ve only heard thirdhand if you choose.)

God is good, and while Satan is indeed a factor in this world I still believe that God blesses the works of his people, and that while many embark on the numerous paths to the right and to the left of the “narrow way” God always leaves open a path bringing us back to it… even when a whole generation takes the path to the left as seems to have happened in American since the 60s. I happen to believe many of the greatest love songs written which we hear on mainstream stations were place in peoples hearts by the Lord himself… they just most often get expressed as being written to or for another human, who after all is supposed to have been made in the very image and likenes of God himself… And much as I cringe at the many times Satan has made it into musicians hearts to the point where evil pervades their music, and at the times our songs have affronted our Lord, I believe that overwhelmingly over time, the songs are uplifting as comapred to the opposite.

Ummm…if you look it up, it’s not about the church of Satan. Just because a few crazy people have come up with a theory doesn’t make it’s true. BTW The line you misquoted is actually “You can check OUT any time you want, but you can never leave”. According to the snopes.com link another poster offered, the song is about the hedonism and greed that were so prevelant in southern California in the early 70s. One of the Eagles, Don Henley, said of the song, it “sort of captured the zeitgeist of the time, which was a time of great excess in this country and in the music business in particular”.
Missed a word! 👍

“you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave!”

So, based upon your exhaustive and objective research on the Beatles, what were they talking about?
I don’t know yet. I’m still trying to do more research on that. I think I actually read what they were talking about, but I forgot. I only remember that they were not talking about Mary, the Mother of God.

Let me try to be as clear as possible on some of my points here.

1.-To say God listens to music by the Beatles I think would be an insult. **God is all knowing…and aware of the Beatles and their music…**The fact is, you KNOW the Beatles have hidden messages in their songs, whether it’s reffering to getting “high” in the song “A little help from my Friends” (which really isn’t a hidden message, it’s a message very easy to notice), or whatever else yet you continue to listen to their music anyway. **It has been awhile since I have heard a Beatles song…yeah, one can get high with a little help from friends. Not my thing…it’s a song.**You must understand that you can’t do something that could be sinful just because you don’t think it is. Do you think God would tell you something like this… “The Devil is in Hell, there’s no need to worry about him, he can’t do anything to you or anyone else on this earth as long as they have faith in Me, the Beatles are fine, listen to them as much as you want”. No. John Lennon himself admitted he was against Christianity. That video says so, and it’s not a rumor, Lennon publicly admitted it. How can you trust a band like that, a band that claimed their music was bigger than Jesus? You need to find better friends. You Tube is “fringe” at best.

2.-It’s not so much that I go “looking for evil”. You have to understand that evil is present lots of places. Just because the Devil is in Hell doesn’t mean he can’t spread his evil throughout many places of the world. **I’m sure evil is out and about…for me…I don’t give evil the time of day. Remember Lucifer is vain…loves press.**He already has. God has let him do so because He gives everyone a free will. So God won’t necessarily prevent him from throwing evil messages into some songs.

3.-Rock and roll is the #1 type of music that contains Satanic messages. **Says “you”.**I’m not saying all rock songs do, but there are quite a few rock songs out there that do contain such messages. If you play Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” backwards, you can hear the lines “All hail Satan”. **Stairway to Heaven is in my top 3 favorite songs…I don’t play records backwards…sounds really stupid.**You may think that’s just a rumor too, but if you have that song see if you can find a way to play it backwards.Again, why would I want to ruin a classic original album by doing something stupid like that. I have the original Led Zeppelin IV,…which Stairway to Heaven is on it. You can’t say Satan can’t possibly throw evil messages into songs when he already has. Proof is all over the internet, look it up.
Ah the internet is the new Bible, huh? Come again? The internet is a vast wasteland of popular and unpopular information. I think you need to grow-up a bit and experience the “real world” and decide for yourself. It is threads like this that take folks down the wrong path…by scaring them. No one is perfect…the human factor prevents that.

For the record, “Let it Be” is about Paul McCartney’s deceased mother, Mary McCartney appearing to him in a dream when he was going through a difficult time, telling him to relax and that everything would work itself out. How horrible!

SS - you say that people wouldn’t make up a story about John Lennon & his wife sacrificing an animal to Satan. Why not? People make up stuff all of the time. Especially people who have it out for rock music who want to “prove” it’s all of the devil. There is no evidence that this alleged sacrifice ever took place. None.

Also, the only “hidden” message you have presented as evidence for the Beatles’ Satanism is the line, “I get high with a little help from my friends”. Don’t you think a reference to marijuana use is a long way from worshipping Satan?

And, lastly, to get back to the actual subject of the thread, the Eagles “Hotel California”… The song does not seem to be referring to the people and situation in the “Hotel Cal” in a positive light - it paints a picture of desperate, lonely people battling addictions and other problems. If the song was actually about the Church of Satan, and the Eagles were actually Satanists as alleged, wouldn’t it be portraying the situation as a more positive one?

I never said the internet was the new Bible.

And to not want to “ruin” your Led Zeppelin album or whatever seems selfish to me. I really expected better from someone who is Catholic than to not care that they may be listening to music that contains evil messages. But whatever, I can’t convince you apparently.

Stairway To Heaven lasts for about 8 minutes; why would anyone waste their time listening to it backwards to hear “all hail satan?” It sounds much better going forward than backward.

In any event, I always thought that Jazz was supposed to be the “devil’s music;” did he give it up when rock started???

I doubt you’d have to play backwards that far into the song to hear it.

And Satan will like to mix things up a little. Today though, I’d say rock is the most likely to have evil messages.

I never said the internet was the new Bible. You did state that is your source for information.

may be…you said it yourself. 😃

You have no control over me or what my value system is as a Catholic because I do not share your paranoia.

But we should be concerned about what we could be listening to. You can’t do something that could be wrong just because you don’t think it’s wrong. The fact that I could be (and most likely would be if I did listen) listening to music with evil messages contained in it creeps me out to the point where I don’t even want to hear one word of the song. You don’t seem to care. I never said I have any controll over you, but I am trying to warn you about the music you are listening to without care. It just seems you’d rather get enjoyment out of listening to music even if it could be bad than playing it safe and avoiding it.

Looks like another “crystal ball” moment. You “know” that evil likes to mix things up a little.:hmmm:

Rock is “most” likely to have evil messages. Interesting…Hotel California is evil…but rap songs about the demoralization of women and killing is ok. Country music,…about cheating…drinking and raising hell…is not evil. I am at a loss…truly…🤷

I never said rock was the only type of music that could be evil. And please stop bringing up the “crystal ball”. Crystal balls are also associated with evil.

All right, that’s just silly. “Crystal ball” is a phrase that has long entered the English lexicon with no “evil” connotations. You’re getting close to being like the Jack Chick devotees who claim that IHS stands for Isis-Horus-Set, when it clearly does not.

thanks Lujack. Sanity prevails. This young person needs to get to his/her parish priest as soon as possible and discuss these issues. Paranoia reigns supreme. Now if I were a betting gal…wouldn’t that be in the top 10 of what evil likes to perpetuate among people? Paranoia is more than likely the top 3. I don’t a crystal ball to tell me that.😃

Confusion is something else that you may want to put in your top 3, and you clearly are confused. You refuse to consider the strong possibility that the music you are listening to is evil and instead continue to listen to it so you can get your enjoyment. I really expected better of a Catholic than to not care about what kind of music they’re listening to. Music like that doesn’t praise God. Music that praises God is music you hear at a Catholic Church, which is the only type of music you’ll find God listening to. This isn’t about any problems I have. You keep bringing that up to dismiss anything about you and what music you listen to. I’m beginning to wonder if you would keep listening to that music even if the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, or some other band you listen to came out and admitted their songs contained evil messages. You seem to need 100% proof right in front of your face that the music you’re listening to is wrong before you accept that. That’s not how things work. I think you need to talk to a priest yourself about the music you listen to and see what he says. I’m finished arguing with someone who just doesn’t seem to get what I’m saying.

Unfortunately, the problem is that those who have been posting here DO get what you’re saying. They just don’t accept your unsupported premises. Unfortunately those caught up in conspiracy theories, in general, are the ones least able to see how caught up they are and how irrational those theories are.

It is the easiest thing in the world to cook up such theories and then find “evidence” to support them. The internet is riddled with such sites on everything from the lunar landing to Area 51 to the various 911 theories to theories about the Jews seeking world domination. We have whole religions that are even based on selectively taking isolated passages of the Bible to find that everyone but that select few who adhere to some special secret formula is damned.

It is indeed virtuous to hold on to truth even when all around you are living in lies, but there is no virtue in clinging to manufactured truth that is not even supported by the Church, much less in condemning others for failing to support you in such irrationality. Yes, it can be a fine line at times discerning whether one is actually on the side of “truth” but when in question one should be turning to the Church rather than internet conspiracy theory sites.

Peace,
