It seems to me that if you insist on building in a 100 year flood plain that no insurance should be available. If the home is pre-existing, already insured and destroyed, any settlement should include s caveat that you leave the floodplain…if not, you’re on your own.

The same logic should apply to ocean front, etc. A little bit of logic would go a long way to reducing the cost of these storms…get back from the water or pay for the view yourself.

By that reasoning, since 100% of people are “virtually guaranteed” to get sick and need care at some point in time…
Thats what actuaries are for. Surprising enough even though everyone is virtually guaranteed to get sick and file claims on their insurance people claim the insurance companies make too much money.
