My bishop was a former auxiliary for the Houston archdiocese (before it was raised to the dignity of Metropolitan Archdiocese).
From the looks of the pictures, this should be the “poster-child”, if you will, for future church buildings. It does combine both modern and traditional elements. Too bad LA couldn’t do theirs all over again based on the Texas model. This cathedral makes me proud to be a Texas Catholic.
I guess my only caveat, and this is with modern stain-glass windows, centers around how sharp and angular the images are. I do miss the traditional, more rounded approach. The faces in the traditional windows are much more beautiful and more human. The angular and sharp images are too strern and they just don’t seem to convey any warmth to them.
