How are we saved?

Perhaps I missed it; will you reference a post number, please?
I am happy to oblige. My initial question to you was on post number 164. To which, you thought was not realistic. Your reply to my post was on number 168, which confused me since it sounds very confusing, based on what you say later on…
In post 172 you spout utter nonsense.
You can not ask for forgiveness of sins you have not yet committed.
So, let me ask you again- you say unlike moondweller that you do ask God for forgiveness of sins, but what’s the point of that ( you even say- when they are forgiven anyway?)
Why ask for forgiveness at all?
Why not forget John the Baptist?
Why even bother with any of it?

None of what you’ve listed.
Gee, you sure could have fooled me.

Regardless, whatever the magical answer is doesn’t have much chance of being a better strategy then seeking the sacrament of Reconciliation, which is the perfect means to humbly restore one’s will with the will of God.

All the priest does is release the grace that we have in Jesus. The only thing that can come from denying formal confession for personal understanding is pride and laziness.

Moondweller is even denying the need to confess to God for sins current, let alone a priest acting with God in love.
He outright denies the need for forgiveness once you “believe”
In what, I don’t know yet.

Someone who fails to see the need for Confession is in a perfect position to go through life arrogant and delusional.

In confession we say, :Bless me Father, for I have sinned…"

NOT ‘forgive me…’
How silly to hide the fact that you will (hopefully) be absolved of your confession(s)

You seen to be not very honest with the non catholic here.

There is no sacrament of reconciliation.

Obviously I confess my sins, after all, I’ve confessed on this thread that I do, or have you forgotten that, or do you dismiss that because of your belief that the only true confession occurs in the CC “sacrament of reconciliation?”

ISTM, that the arrogance and delusion is within your heart, not mine. 🙂

OK. I looked at your profile. Do you have any “church” background, or, are you completely new to all of this, either Catholic, or Protestant theology?

To acknowledge that I’ve sinned, even though I’m forgiven all my sins.

There is no sacrament of reconciliation.
:bigyikes:

But what about “whose sins you forgive they are forgiven them?” -Jesus

and what about “confess your sins one to another and you shall be healed.”-St. James

Lets all drop 2000 years of the greatest Saints and take your word for it. After all you are an individual and everyone knows that an individual is the most qualified to interpret Scripture on his own

Fixed*.

I possibly don’t qualify for having “church” backround. After all, I was raised by atheists that so called christians called millitant athiests…

I was not hostile to the idea of God. I just never saw him in the branches of christianity I was in company with.

Long story short, I am here now.

But this is not about my profile, or me. I am asking you to back up your claims as I read the bible and do not see what you do.
I like to know how you conclude what you do, and how you do based on the very same bible I have. And, I have non catholic and catholic versions. And commentaries. But, what confuses me, is why you never answer a direct question and then try to re-direct.

What branches are those?

Indeed.

What do you see in the Bible that you think I don’t see?

I am not a christian yet.
I don’t know about that—you might just be, and not know it. Why do you think that you’re not yet a Christian?

notsmart:
Mostly fundamentalists. Only one mainline protestant Lutheran that is not practicing.
Except for the not practicing Lutheran, how do you know that you didn’t see God in any of the fundamentalists? What were you looking for? What did you suppose God looked like, at that time?

(Edited)

It’s easier if you just copy and paste the post with which you’d like to begin; that way, I don’t have to go searching back through, unless asking you to do that is too much for me to ask of you?

🤷 If that’s the case, we can end this here and now.
