Athough I am not a traditionalist, I would like to know more about the Tridentine Mass, and the Traditionalist liturgy and spirituality. I was thinking one might know a traditionalist priest I can talk to. Here, in my contry there’s no traditionalist priest and I can’t find all the information I need on the internet, maybe you can help me with an e-mail of a tradionalist priest.

Thanks!

You would do better to find an FSSP or ISCK priest.

Since SSPX is not in regular communion with the Church, and twice Pope Benedict has said that it has no canonical status and its clergy do not exercise a legitimate ministry in the Church, they cannot be considered traditional at the present time.

If you are truly a traditional Catholic, then all you have to do to find out about the Tridentine Mass is to search the internet. There’s a wealth of information there. You could also try going to a local reference library.
As regards FSSP clergy, then in you are determined to follow your schismatic route (because that’s what it is!) then again, search the internet! There is a great long list of pseudo-Roman-Catholic churches out there just waiting to lead you down the rosy path to schism.

@Marcus Aurelius

I realized that on this forum when someone cannot really help turns into a polemic style. I aware of the relationship between the Holy See and the SSPX. Honestly, I doubt that all the necessary information can be found online, or in the local library. If someone is truly interested in the matter he goes to the source. That’s why I was asking for a traditionalist priest. Not because I am traditionalist! If I were, I wouldn’t have asked for such information on this forum.

So, I ask again, if anyone can help me somehow, please do!

Thank you, all!

I attend a Tridentine Mass which is said by an FSSP at my church every Sunday morning. Even though the Mass starts at 7:45 am and I’m not a morning person I find this worth getting up in the morning for. The FSSPs have a schedule with the days of the week and times they have Mass as well as the locations, names, and phone numbers of the priests. This should be on the site I just gave you.

I just visited the site for Ecclesia Dei and clicked on the schedule for the Latin Masses. It doesn’t say which ones are FSSP and whom the other Masses are said by. I did find the one I go to on there minus the address and the name of the priest. I also saw another one which I know is FSSP since it is at the other church that our priest says Mass at. (At least it’s “FSSP” some of the time since we have an older diocesan priest there who sometimes says the Mass.)

For some of these Masses you may have to use the phone book, Mapquest, or some other source.

Yes, sorry! I was talking about SSPX!

And I live in Europe. In my country very few even know about the existance of traditional catholics…

I think I’ve seen those 2 pages you provided links for, Tedster. I guess I was too “lazy” to look them up to give to “Priestly Vocation” like you just did for me. As far as finding any more traditional Masses for me to attend, I’m ok now but If I move out of town or travel, they’d be great sources of information on finding another Mass to go to. I do think the priest that says our Mass is a wonderful person, but he lives a ways away from us and is usually only here on Sunday so it may mean he might not have as much time for us as if he were here all the time. Hopefully as more FSSPs are ordained, we’ll have one here full-time. But for now we have to “share.”

Be careful with the FSSP and the ICK. They will not be allowed to compare where the Novus Ordo and modern spirituality may lead you away from the beliefs the church has traditionally held, particularly the True presence, even though they may personally believe it. That is the price they pay for “full communion” until it is all resolved in the upcoming doctrinal talks. Thus, they are more superficially traditional with an attachment to the TLM, as opposed to those clergy who took issue with modernist seminary formation and spirituality at the introduction to the Novus Ordo.

Let me see if I understand you.

FSSP is in full and regular communion with the Roman Pontiff, but to go to one of their churches is to take a “schismatic route.”

I could go mad, in a nice way, trying to figure this one out.

Poppycock, I heard the same scare tactics when I was in the SSPX Seminary. They even tried to defame the FSSP seminary by telling us that they were seminarians who defected from the SSPX were promised Cable TV in all their rooms, and would never be ordained. They told us within five years any FSSP priests who may be ordianed would be forced to say only the NO.

On the other hand the FSSP priests I have met and spoken to, including a couple of priests who I knew both from my seminary days and former SSPX priests now FSSP, have been more than charitable when it comes to the SSPX, saying things like, One day we will hopefully see full communion, and that the SSPX, while misguided, and having a fortress mentality, is attempting to do good, as they understand the situation. They also say that we should spend less time making attacks at the SSPX, and praying for unity among all Catholics, including SSPX, and restoring a Catholic ethos.

SSPX, in a document released by the Vatican this year is considered ‘separated’ from the Church and its priests ‘execute’ their ministry in an illicit way.

And please, return to the subject!

Thank you!

What country are you in, may we ask?

There’re some good FSSP sermons in the links below. 🙂

Double poppycock,

I wasn’t talking about cable TV, only what they are allowed to say/question/dispute. But, truth be told, if you are telling me that an FSSP priest can refuse a request by the diocesan Bishop to say the NO regularly or even occasionally, then you didn;t spend enough time in any seminary. And if you are saying that a Bishop would never make such a request, then triple poppycock!

I’ll let this be the last reply to the SSPX propoganda on this thread. As the OP does want information and not polemics. And I’m sorry that my crystal ball is in the shop, so I can’t see into your history. Suffice it to say that my time in the seminary was not short, and I keep the intention of the eventual reunion of the SSPX with the Holy See as a daily intention. The mention of the cable TV was never posed as yours. What it does however show is the tactics that SSPX will use to frighten and belittle anyone who is not SSPX as having the wrong motives, or not holding the Catholic Faith full and complete.

Both from the documents of the FSSP, it’s founding and it’s consitution, no priest of the FSSP can be forced to offer the New Rites. No priest I know of in the FSSP has been forced into or commanded by a local ordinary to offer the NOM. Some FSSP priests did request the faculties to offer both, they are in the minority.

The NOM, (not my cup of tea) is a valid rite, authorized by the Holy See. If I did have to assist at the NOM, I’d rather go to one offered by a FSSP priest, as they would more than likely offer it with dignity and in the manner envisioned by Pope Paul VI and the Church. Rubrics would be followed, and I doubt E.M. or female acolytes would be used.

I hope this thread won’t turn into a pro-SSPX thread. My only intention is to find someone who can tell me more about the traditional Mass, and the tridentine liturgy entirely. To be honest, I kinda dissapointed that all turned into a debate, which is not the case of this thread.

And maybe, I am an ‘in pectore’ traditional roman-catholic, and all I want to know is about the roman-catholic heritage.
