How can I know God is real

I remember watching Father Spitzer talking about the evidences for God. He is pretty good. Just google it.

My two favorite ways to know beyond reasonable doubt are the Five Proofs of Thomas Aquinas and miracles.

The Church teaches that one can know with certainty of the existence of God by the natural light of human reason. This statement is surprising to many Catholics and non-Catholics alike. Aquinas is an excellent source, starting with “Summa contra Gentiles”. William Lane Craig, though not Catholic, speaks a great deal about this, check out his videos. And check John Paul II’s “Fides et Ratio”.

EDIT: Somebody else mentioned Fr. Spitzer, and I feel stupid for not including him. Definitely another good resource.

Evidence that God is real can be gathered by your actions. If you turn to God in the Sacraments and in Scripture, you should be able to better comprehend God’s work in your life (grace).

Without God life is meaningless. If we are destined to be cosmic dust only, then no matter what you do or don’t do in this life, so no morality and no direction. Only with God does human life have purpose and meaning.
